Pachappa Hill

Jesus Santiago Duran (July 26, 1948 – February 17, 1977) was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, and a recipient of the Medal of Honor.

Victoria Hill is a hill in the city of Riverside, California which is the seat of Riverside County, California. It has an elevation of 1,005 feet (306 m) and is located half a mile (0.6 km) east of California State Route 91, at around postmile 19, which is south of intersection with California State Route 60.

California Southern Law School (CSLS) was a private part-time evening law school in Riverside, California. It admitted its last entering class in Fall 2016 and closed after the Spring 2020 semester. It is registered with the California State Bar Committee of Bar Examiners (CBE), but is not accredited by the CBE or approved by the American Bar Association. As a registered law school, CSLS graduates may take the California Bar Examination and upon passing the Bar, they are authorized to practice law in California.

Riverside Plaza is a 475,000-square-foot (44,100 m2) outdoor mall in Riverside, California originally anchored by a 205,000-square-foot (19,000 m2) Harris Company (later Harris’/Gottschalks) department store along with Montgomery Ward. It was the city's first mall and was originally an outdoor mall and then remodeled to an enclosed indoor mall then again remodeled to an outdoor mall. After a $12-million renovation in the early 2010s, the center features walkways, fountains, decorative lights and courtyard seats. Today it is anchored by a Regal Cinemas, Forever 21, Trader Joe's, Marshalls, JoAnn Fabrics & Crafts and Nordstrom Rack. Forever 21 opened first in the empty Harris’/Gottschalks building space, but relocated in 2013 to a space that Borders Books vacated.

Pachappa Camp (also known as Dosan’s Republic) was founded in 1904 and is one of the earliest significant Korean settlements established in the United States. It was founded by Ahn Changho (also known by his pen name Dosan), one of the earliest Korean immigrants to the United States and a prominent Korean independence activist. Located in downtown Riverside, California, the original address of the site was 1532 Pachappa Avenue but has since been changed to 3096 Cottage Street. The settlement was active until 1918 and at peak season hosted nearly 300 people. Pachappa Camp is labeled the first Korean settlement in the United States by several historians and the Riverside City government, but this label is disputed by historian John Cha. On March 23, 2017, the Riverside City Council designated the Pachappa Camp site as a “Point of Cultural Interest.”The camp is also notable as being the site of where Ahn founded the New People's Association (also "Sinminhoe"), one of the earliest and most significant Korean associations in the United States. It is also where Ahn formulated the idea for the 1913 Young Korean Academy ("Heungsadan").

Riverside Polytechnic High School is a four-year public high school in Riverside, California, United States, and part of the Riverside Unified School District. The current facility, located on Victoria Avenue, was opened in September 1965; the traditions of the school go back to 1887, then known as the Riverside High School, making Riverside Polytechnic the oldest high school in the city.

Riverside Unified School District (a.k.a. RUSD) is a school district headquartered in Riverside, California, United States. The district serves a large portion of Riverside as well as Highgrove and Woodcrest, unincorporated areas in Riverside County.

The California School for the Deaf, Riverside (CSD-R or CSDR) is a school for deaf children located in Riverside, California. The school educates children from all over Southern California. Its companion school in Northern California is California School for the Deaf, Fremont (CSD-F or CSDF).

The De Anza Theatre is an office building and former theatre with approximately 800 seats located at 4225 Market Street in Riverside, California in the United States. The De Anza was designed circa 1937 by Fox West Coast theater architect S. Charles Lee and constructed circa 1938 by local Riverside builder T.C. Prichard. Southern California-based Lee had "one of the most celebrated and prolific careers" in the history of theatre design; the De Anza is the only Lee building in Riverside. Architectural photographer Julius Shulman shot the Streamline Moderne-style building at the time of opening; Shulman "did not merely document significant architecture, but interpreted it, becoming one of the most important and influential architectural photographers in history."The De Anza is one of two surviving historic theater buildings in Riverside (the other being the former Fox Riverside). In 2013 the De Anza Theatre building was deemed eligible for listing on the California Register of Historical Resources as an architecturally significant local landmark. However, the building's state of preservation was deemed inadequate (it lacked "sufficient integrity") for it to be listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The Riverside County Transportation Commission (RCTC) is the County Transportation Commission for Riverside County, California, United States. It is an association of local governments in the county, with policy makers consisting of mayors, councilmembers, and county supervisors, and is the funding agency for the county's transit systems, which include Corona Cruiser, Riverside Transit Agency, SunLine Transit Agency, Pass Transit Agency and Palo Verde Valley Transit Agency. It also provides funds for city transit in Corona and Riverside and is one of Metrolink's five governing agencies. It is additionally the planning agency for the Coachella Valley–San Gorgonio Pass Rail Corridor Service.RCTC is also a member of Southern California Association of Governments.

Riverside–Downtown station (officially the Joseph Tavaglione Riverside Downtown Station) is a train station in Riverside, California, United States. It is served by three Metrolink commuter rail lines – the 91/Perris Valley Line, Inland Empire–Orange County Line, and Riverside Line – and Amtrak intercity rail service on the Southwest Chief. The station is owned by the Riverside County Transportation Commission.

The Riverside County Administration Building is a 14-story glass-curtain tower located in downtown Riverside, California. It was built in 1974 and designed by architect Herman O. Ruhnau. [1] Ruhnau also designed the nearby 7-story Riverside City Hall. The building serves as the main headquarters for Riverside County. The building is the tallest in the city of Riverside by height though the Mount Rubidoux Manor has two more floors.
