John Ruskin College is a further education college in South Croydon offering full-time vocational courses and apprenticeships as well as part-time courses for adults. In 2019, following a merger with East Surrey College incorporating Reigate School of Art, John Ruskin College became part of Orbital South Colleges. John Ruskin College is located on Selsdon Park Road (A2022), close to the A212 roundabout. The College is accessible by tram via Gravel Hill tram stop, as well as various local bus services.

Addington Palace is an 18th-century mansion in Addington near Croydon in south London, within the historic county of Surrey. It was built on the site of a 16th-century manor house. It is particularly known for having been, between 1807 and 1897, the summer residence of the Archbishops of Canterbury. Between 1953 and 1996 it was occupied by the Royal School of Church Music. The school converted to academy status in September 2010 in partnership with Coloma Convent Girls' School. Previously it was a community school under the control of Croydon London Borough Council, and it continues to coordinate with the council on admissions. The academy offers GCSEs and OCR Nationals, and sixth-form students can choose a range of A Levels. Roy Hodgson, ex-manager of the England national football team, was a teacher at Monks Hill Comprehensive in the 1970s.

Bramley Bank is a 10.3 hectare local nature reserve in Upper Shirley in the London Borough of Croydon. It is owned by Croydon Council and managed by the London Wildlife Trust.The site has acid grassland, woodland and a pond. Flowers include common violets and enchanter's nightshade, and there are displays of bluebells in the spring. The woodland is mainly oak, ash and sycamore. The margin of the pond has yellow flag and flote grass. Wildlife includes nuthatches, song thrushes, purple hairstreak butterflies, yellow meadow ants and pipistrelle bats.There is access from Riesco Drive and Broadcombe.

Shirley High School is a co-educational academy school in the London Borough of Croydon, which first opened in 1954. The school has around 1100 pupils aged 11–18. The school was awarded specialist status as a performing arts college. The school opened a sixth form block for the 2014–2015 academic year.

Selsdon Wood is a woodland area located in the London Borough of Croydon. The park is owned by the National Trust but managed by the London Borough of Croydon. It is a Local Nature Reserve. The wood has a Friends group - the Friends of Selsdon Wood (FSW) - who have their own website.Sir Julian Huxley (a zoological scientist) was one of the main backers of the Selsdon Wood Nature Reserve.
