Saint-Laurent-des-Eaux (French pronunciation: [sɛ̃ lɔʁɑ̃ dez‿o]) is a former commune of the Loir-et-Cher department of France. In 1972, it was merged with Nouan-sur-Loire to form the new commune of Saint-Laurent-Nouan.The Saint-Laurent Nuclear Power Plant is located here, it comprises: Two UNGG reactors, now closed. These entered service in 1969 and 1971, and were closed in 1990 and 1992. Two PWRs, each of 900 MWe, which entered service in 1983.

Saint-Laurent Nuclear Power Plant

The Saint-Laurent Nuclear Power Station is located in the commune of Saint-Laurent-Nouan in Loir-et-Cher on the Loire — 28 km (17 mi) upstream from Blois and 30 km (19 mi) downstream from Orléans. The site includes two operating pressurized water reactors (each 900MWe), which began operation in 1983. They are cooled by the water of the Loire River. Two UNGG reactors used to exist at the site, which were brought into service in 1969 and 1971 and were retired in April 1990 and June 1992.The site employs approximately 670 regular workers.

Battle of Beaugency (1870)

The Battle of Beaugency took place during the Franco-Prussian War between the army group of the Grand Duke of Mecklenburg, and the French Armée de la Loire, won by the Prussians. It lasted from 8 to 10 December 1870 and occurred on the left bank of the river Loire to the northwest of the town of Beaugency. Due to the large area over which it was fought, it is also known as the Battle of Beaugency-Cravant or the Battle of Villorceau-Josnes.
