East Jefferson High School

Ridgewood Preparatory School was a university-preparatory school located in Metairie, an unincorporated community in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana. It included grades PreK-12.Ridgewood was approved by the State Department of Education and accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Ridgewood's diverse student body came from six parishes as well as from countries around the world. In 2007, fifteen percent of students were foreign citizens coming from nations as far-ranging as Argentina, Nigeria, Norway, Japan, Vietnam and Egypt. The school was organized as a primary, middle, and high school. The academic year consisted of two semesters, each divided into three six-week grading periods. The school was operated as a non-profit corporation aided by an advisory board. The school closed in January, 2023 due to “persistent low enrollment” and financial issues.

St. Martin's Episcopal School is a diocesan private college preparatory school in Metairie, Louisiana, a suburb in Greater New Orleans. It is affiliated with St. Martin's Episcopal Church and the Episcopal Diocese of Louisiana. The school also operates George Cottage, an early childhood program for infants and children up to age 3, after which they may opt to join the main school.

Saint Christopher School is an elementary school located in Metairie, Louisiana. The school teaches children from kindergarten to seventh grade. Saint Christopher is recognized by the United States Department of Education as a National School of Excellence and was named a Blue Ribbon School for the 1993–1994 school year.

Gold Mine on Airline, formerly Shrine on Airline, is a 10,000-seat stadium in Metairie, Louisiana, a suburb of New Orleans. It is home field for the New Orleans Gold team in Major League Rugby. Known as Zephyr Field when built in 1997 as the home ballpark for the New Orleans Zephyrs (later New Orleans Baby Cakes), the stadium was renamed when the Minor League Baseball team's name changed from Zephyrs to Baby Cakes in 2017. Shrine on Airline had been an unofficial name for Zephyr Field used by the public address announcer since the stadium opened and it became the new name.Minor league baseball left New Orleans at the end of the 2019 season, when the Baby Cakes relocated to Wichita, Kansas, where they continue as the Wichita Wind Surge. Initially, the city of New Orleans hoped to bring a Double-A Southern League team to the city and continue operations as the Baby Cakes. However, due to Major League Baseball's reorganization of Minor League Baseball, the league ceased operations in 2021 and the campaign ultimately failed. With the departure of the Baby Cakes, the stadium was repurposed with a rectangular field for football of all codes, with a more thorough renovation scheduled for late 2024.The facility hosted the 1998 and 2001 Conference USA baseball tournaments and the 1999 Sun Belt Conference baseball tournament. Shrine on Airline was also the site of the Class 5A Louisiana High School Athletic Association (LHSAA) baseball tournament in 2004 and 2005.

Tulane–Lakeside Hospital is a hospital in Metairie, Louisiana that specializes in woman's health services. Since its opening in 1964, the hospital has delivered over 1,000,000 babies and treated over 300,000 patients. It is a part of Tulane Medical Center. Tulane University and LCMC announced on October 10, 2022 that LCMC would purchase Tulane Medical Center (along with Lakeview Regional Medical Center, and Tulane Lakeside Hospital) from HCA for $150 Million.

The Jefferson Performing Arts Center is a 1,041-seat live event venue located in Jefferson Parish in Metairie, Louisiana. The venue was designed to host grand operas, musicals, symphonies, choral concerts, ballet and private or corporate events. The venue is currently managed by the Jefferson Performing Arts Society. The $54.5 million performing arts center features an acoustically designed interior, a 51-ft. proscenium arch stage with a mechanical orchestra lift, a theatrical fly rigging system, four star-dressing rooms and six ensemble-dressing rooms. The theater inside the arts center is named after former Louisiana State Senator Ken Hollis, who helped secure funding for the theater.

Riverdale's attendance boundary includes several communities. They are Jefferson, Harahan, Elmwood, and River Ridge. In addition the school serves portions of Metairie.

Shrewsbury Cemetery, historically known as Camp Parapet Cemetery , is an old burial ground near New Orleans, Louisiana, on the site of a Confederate military camp during the American Civil War. The cemetery is the burying ground of Ross Church and First Zion Church, both located nearby. It is also sometimes known as First Zion Cemetery.

Jefferson is part of the New Orleans–Metairie–Kenner metropolitan statistical area. The population was 11,193 at the 2010 census, and 10,533 in 2020. It is often known by locals as "Old Jefferson" (to distinguish itself from the rest of Jefferson Parish), but should not be confused with Old Jefferson in East Baton Rouge Parish, Louisiana.
