Farranfore

Farranfore railway station serves the village of Farranfore in County Kerry, Ireland. It is located a short distance away from Kerry Airport.

Currans (Irish: Na Coirríní) is a small village in County Kerry, Ireland. It is 8.5 km southwest of Castleisland and 4.7 km west of the neighbouring village of Currow.

Kerry Airport (Irish: Aerfort Chiarraí; IATA: KIR, ICAO: EIKY), often called Farranfore Airport, is an international airport in Farranfore, County Kerry, Ireland. It is 7 nautical miles (13 km; 8.1 mi) north of the Ring of Kerry and 8 nautical miles (15 km; 9.2 mi) southeast of the county's capital Tralee. Passenger services are operated by Ryanair and more recently French airline Chalair . In 2022, Kerry Airport handled 355,043 passengers; a decrease of 4% since 2019.

Firies ( officially Firies; Irish: Na Foidhrí) is a village in County Kerry, Ireland in the barony of Magunihy. It is situated midway between the hub towns of Killarney (14.5 km), Tralee (16 km), Castleisland (16 km) and Killorglin (13 km). It is on the R561 road between Farranfore and Castlemaine. The population at the 2016 census was 558. There are two principal rivers, namely the Maine and its chief tributary, the Brown Flesk.

Currow (Irish: An Currach / Corra) is a rural village in County Kerry in south west Ireland, located approximately 12 km from Killarney and 18 km from Tralee. Currow is situated on the Brown Flesk River, a tributary of the River Maine.

Edenburn House, formerly 'Magh House' or 'Rockfield', is a house and demesne in the parish of Ballymacelligott, County Kerry, in Ireland. Built in the late 18th century, it is situated between Tralee and Castleisland. Formerly the home of the Hussey family, from 1937 to 1968, the house was used as a sanatorium for tuberculosis patients. Later becoming known as Edenburn Hospital, from 1968 until its closure in 1988 the building was a convalescent home and hospital, catering mostly for orthopaedic patients and elderly patients.

Maglass (Irish: Magh Glas) is a townland in the parish of Ballymacelligott, which is situated between two towns, Tralee and Castleisland, County Kerry, Ireland. Ballymacelligott is the biggest parish in Munster. Maglass is a farming area, with the nearest shop and post office is approximately 1 mile from Maglass in Ballydwyer. The nearest church is a further mile in Clogher, where there is also a National School.

Aghadoe Cathedral was a church that may have been the seat of a bishop at Aghadoe, Ireland (later joined with the Bishopric of Ardfert). The now ruined cathedral overlooks the Lakes of Killarney from Aghadoe, a few miles from Killarney. Aghadoe may have been the site of a church as early as the seventh century, but extant remains are of a stone structure built in the eleventh and twelfth centuries. Scottish journalist Charles Mackay visited Famine Ireland in the summer of 1849 and traveled to Killarney. He comments extensively on the grounds around Aghadoe Cathedral and how they were being used as a burial site for famine victims from the local workhouse. Mackay notes that within the one-acre church grounds surrounding the cathedral, only a small corner was used for workhouse burials. He estimates that over the past three years, from 1846 to 1849, approximately 2,000 workhouse famine victims were buried here. Forty Years Recollections Charles Mackay, p. 2:89–93.

Coolgarriv (Irish: An Chúil Gharbh) is a townland on the outskirts of Killarney, County Kerry, Ireland. It is located on Madam's Hill, overlooking Killarney in the nearby valley. It is bordered by Aghadoe and Knockasarnett townlands. Coolgarriv is part of Fossa parish, in the Diocese of Kerry.

Ballymacelligott (Irish: Baile Mhic Eileagóid) is a civil parish in the north of County Kerry in Ireland. It is situated 7 kilometres (4.3 mi) east of Tralee in the historical barony of Trughanacmy.

Castleisland (Irish: Oileán Ciarraí) is a town and commercial centre in County Kerry in south west Ireland. The town is known for the width of its main street. As of the 2016 census, Castleisland had a population of 2,486.Castleisland was described by one of its citizens, journalist Con Houlihan, as "not so much a town as a street between two fields".

Kilcummin is a Gaelic Athletic Association club from Kilcummin, near Killarney in County Kerry, Ireland. The club, which was founded in 1910, fields teams in Gaelic football only, with no hurling played. Together with 12 other football clubs, they form the East Kerry Division of Kerry GAA. The East Kerry board runs its own competitions for clubs within the division, including the East Kerry Senior Football Championship and the East Kerry Junior Football Championship.
