It was founded in 1968, following a four-year demonstration project, and is funded through property taxes and timber taxes.

Northwest Christian High School (NCHS) is a private school in Thurston County, Washington. It is part of Northwest Christian Schools of Lacey, Washington, which also includes Northwest Christian Preschool and Northwest Christian Academy (Lacey, Washington) (for pre-school and K-8 students). In the 2006-2007 school year, it provided education for 206 students in grades 9 through 12. Its motto is "Developing Christian Leaders." In 2019, the school’s nickname changed from the Navigators to the Wolverines (a nickname that now includes the Preschool and the Academy). Saint Martin's University is a private Benedictine university in Lacey, Washington. It was founded in 1895 as a boys' boarding school run by monks of the Benedictine Order. Saint Martin's began offering college-level courses in 1900 and became a degree-granting institution in 1940. The college became coeducational in 1965. In 2005, it changed its name from Saint Martin's College to Saint Martin's University. There is a Benedictine monastery on campus grounds and some members of the monastic community serve as professors.

Saint Martin's Abbey is a community of Roman Catholic Benedictine monks who follow the Rule of St Benedict in Lacey, Washington, United States. First founded as a priory in 1895, the abbey is part of the American-Cassinese Benedictine Congregation and the Benedictine Confederation. As of 2020, the monastic community had 20 monks.

The Hale House, also known as the Hale Residence, is located at 902 Tullis St, NE Olympia, Washington. The house is an American Queen Anne style Cottage and was built in 1882 for Captain Calvin Henry Hale and Pamela Case Hale. The house was placed on the National Register of Historic Places January 12, 1984.
