Tyneham

St Mary's Church is a former Church of England parish church in Tyneham, Dorset, England. The church, which is a Grade II listed building, has 13th-century origins, with later additions, alterations and restorations. It is now under the care of the Ministry of Defence and is used as a museum and monument.

Gad Cliff is a south-facing cliff face, immediately to the east of Worbarrow Tout and Pondfield Cove, on the south coast of the Isle of Purbeck in Dorset, England. Behind it is Gold Down, part of the Lulworth Ranges.

Povington Priory was a Benedictine priory in Tyneham, Dorset, England. It was established as an alien priory of the Abbey of Bec. This term could mean simply an estate and does not necessarily imply the presence on the property of even a small conventual monastic house. In England Bec possessed in the 15th century several priories, namely, St Neots, Stoke-by-Clare, Wilsford, Steventon, Cowick, Ogbourne, and at some point also Blakenham Priory. St Neots Priory was particularly large. In Wales Bec also had Goldcliff Priory, in Monmouthshire. The London suburb of Tooting Bec takes its name from the medieval village's having been a possession of Bec Abbey. Wool and English ewe's milk cheese produced at Povington were shipped to the Mother House via the docks at Wareham.Following the dissolution of the alien priories, the lands were granted to St Anthony's Hospital, North Cheam.

Povington Hill, at 198 metres (650 ft) high, is one of the highest points on the chain of the Purbeck Hills in south Dorset on the southern coast of England. Its prominence of 107 metres (351 ft) means it is listed as one of the Tumps, although map sources suggest this honour should go to Ridgeway Hill further east. Povington Hill lies within the danger area of the Lulworth Ranges and is out of bounds during the week, but becomes a popular viewing point and picnic site at weekends and public holidays. From the top there are good views of Worbarrow Bay, the abandoned village of Tyneham, St. Aldhelm's Head, Swyre Head and the English Channel beyond Gad Cliff to the south. In good visibility Portland Bill may be seen. To the north the view extends over the firing ranges on the Dorset Heaths. The hill is largely treeless, being covered in rough pasture and scrubland.

Brandy Bay is a small secluded southwest-facing bay, with an oil shale and shingle beach immediately below Gad Cliff and Tyneham Cap, to the east of Worbarrow Bay and to the west of Hobarrow Bay on the south coast of the Isle of Purbeck, in Dorset, England.

Tyneham Cap is a prominent, grassy knoll, 167 metres (548 ft) high, on the South West Coast Path in Dorset, England. It rises above Brandy Bay and has extensive views along the Jurassic Coast across Kimmeridge Bay towards Swyre Head and St Aldhelm's Head to the east, and across Worbarrow Bay to Bindon Hill above Lulworth Cove to the west. It is classified as a TuMP thanks to its local prominence.

Pondfield Cove is a small, secluded, south-facing cove immediately to the east of Worbarrow Tout and west of Gad Cliff on the south coast of the Isle of Purbeck, in Dorset, England. It is about 12 kilometres (7.5 mi) south of Wareham and about 16 kilometres (10 mi) west of Swanage. The cove is only accessible when the Lulworth Ranges are open to the public. It can be reached either by a 1.4-kilometre (0.9 mi) walk down an easy track alongside Tyneham Gwyle, from the car park alongside the ghost village of Tyneham, or alternatively via the South West Coast Path.

The Lulworth Ranges are military firing ranges located between Wareham and Lulworth in Dorset, England. They cover an area of more than 2,830 hectares (7,000 acres), are leased in a rolling contract from the Weld Estate by the Ministry of Defence and are part of the Armoured Fighting Vehicles Gunnery School based at Lulworth Camp. The ranges were established in 1917.

Worbarrow Tout is a promontory at the eastern end of Worbarrow Bay on Isle of Purbeck in Dorset on the south coast of England, about 6 kilometres (3.7 mi) south of Wareham and about 16 kilometres (10 mi) west of Swanage. Immediately to its east is Pondfield Cove. Worbarrow Tout ("tout" means lookout) was originally part of Gad Cliff to its east, but sea erosion has virtually separated the two completely.

Hobarrow Bay is a small secluded southwest-facing bay, with an oil shale and shingle beach to the southeast of Brandy Bay and to the southwest of Kimmeridge on the south coast of the Isle of Purbeck, in Dorset, England.

Flower’s Barrow is an Iron Age hillfort, built over 2500 years ago, above Worbarrow Bay in Dorset on the south coast of England.

Lulworth Abbey was a Trappist monastery at East Lulworth in Dorset, England, established as a priory in 1796 by Thomas Weld for refugee French Trappist monks moving on from temporary shelter in the abandoned La Valsainte Charterhouse in Switzerland. The monastery at Lulworth was raised to the status of an abbey in 1813 by Pope Pius VII. In 1817 it was abandoned, as the monks were able to return to France, to the newly-re-established Melleray Abbey near Nantes.
