Gigondas AOC

Gigondas (French pronunciation: [ʒiɡɔ̃das]; Occitan: Gigondàs) is a commune in the Vaucluse department in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region in Southeastern France. In 2021 it had a population of 430.

The canton of Beaumes-de-Venise is a French former administrative division in the department of Vaucluse and region Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur. It had 5,519 inhabitants (2012). It was disbanded following the French canton reorganisation which came into effect in March 2015.

Domaine Raspail-Ay is a French wine winery in the southern Rhône wine region of France. It carries the Gigondas AOC appellation and is located in the commune of Gigondas, in Vaucluse. The red wine blend bottled at the estate is 80% Grenache, 15% Syrah and 5% Mourvèdre, and is generally 14%-15% alcohol. Domaine Raspail-Ay is a small estate of just 40 acres, and produces no more than 8,000 cases each vintage. The wine is dry, with medium/full body. Being a little brother of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Gigondas AOC is moderately prestigious and can age well when treated with care.

Vacqueyras is a French wine Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée (AOC) in the southern Rhône wine region of France, along the banks of the River Ouvèze. It is primarily a red wine region with some white and rosé wines being produced. Being a little brother of Châteauneuf-du-Pape and, arguably, Gigondas, the wine is moderately prestigious and can yield pleasing results when treated correctly.

The Dentelles de Montmirail are a small chain of mountains in Provence in France, in the département of Vaucluse, located just to the south of the village of Vaison-la-Romaine. They are foothills of the highest peak in Provence, Mont Ventoux, which is situated just to the east. The dramatically jagged shape of their peaks was formed by horizontal strata of Jurassic limestone being folded and forced into a nearly upright position and subsequently eroded into sharp-edged ridges and spikes. The highest peak of the Dentelles is St-Amand, at 734 m (2,400 ft). The range, which is about 8 km wide, offers over 600 trails for walking, rock climbing, and mountain biking. The foot of the Dentelles is surrounded by vineyards of the Rhône Valley.
