Locust is an unincorporated community located in Carroll County, Kentucky, United States. Its post office is closed. Locust is located west of the Little Kentucky River and southeast of Hunter's Bottom. The Hopewell Methodist Church was built in 1842 on land donated by Henry Wise. The Locust Baptist Church was constructed in 1866 along Locust Creek. It served as the commercial, religious, and educational center of northwest Carroll County from 1880 to 1940. The Locust General Store was originally at the forks of Locust Creek and flooded regularly. By the time owner James Mosgrove died in 1882, the store was purchased by John and W. Harvey Conway and expanded its agricultural supplies. In 1902, the store was moved to higher ground and a creamery and icehouse were added. The Locust School was built in 1895; the community also supported a high school, which closed in 1938. During the Great Depression, many farmers in Locust went bankrupt due to the failure of the tobacco market. Locust has always been a small community, with a peak population of about 60.

Hunter's Bottom Historic District is a 2,810 acres (11.4 km2) historic district in Kentucky's Carroll and Trimble counties, spanning the area known as Hunter's Bottom. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976. The listing included 21 contributing buildings and a contributing site. Hunter's Bottom runs seven miles along the Ohio River, with the river forming the north boundary, and with the base of hills forming the south boundary. The district stops on the east at Locust Creek in Carroll County, and on the west at Canip Creek in Trimble County.

The Little Kentucky River is a tributary of the Ohio River, approximately 37 miles (60 km) long, in northern Kentucky in the United States. It rises in southwestern Henry County, approximately 30 miles (48 km) northeast of Louisville. It follows a winding course generally north across Trimble and Carroll counties. It joins the Ohio 2 miles (3 km) west of Carrollton, and approximately 1 mile (1.6 km) west of the mouth of the Kentucky River.

Lamb is an unincorporated community in Craig Township, Switzerland County, in the U.S. state of Indiana.

Mathias Wolf Farm is a historic home and farm located in Madison Township, Jefferson County, Indiana. The farmhouse was built about 1854, and is a 1+1⁄2-story, central passage plan, vernacular Gothic Revival style limestone dwelling. Also on the property are the contributing smokehouse, outhouse, transverse-frame barn, and shed. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2016.

Prestonville is a home rule-class city located at the confluence of the Ohio and Kentucky rivers in Carroll County, Kentucky, in the United States. It lies across the Kentucky River from Carrollton. As of the 2020 census, Prestonville had a population of 171.

The Kentucky River is a tributary of the Ohio River in Kentucky, United States. The 260-mile (420 km) river and its tributaries drain much of eastern and central Kentucky, passing through the Eastern Coalfield, the Cumberland Mountains, and the Bluegrass region. Its watershed encompasses about 7,000 square miles (18,000 km2), and it supplies drinking water to about one-sixth of the population of the state. The river is no longer navigable above Lock 4 at Frankfort, as concrete bulkheads have been poured behind the upper lock gates of Locks 5–14 to strengthen the dam structures. All fourteen dams are managed by the state-run Kentucky River Authority. The primary importance of the locks today is to maintain a pool that allows the city of Lexington to draw its drinking water from the river. Although the Lexington area receives well over 40 inches (1,000 mm) of precipitation annually, the limestone karst geology of the area allows little natural surface water. The cities of Winchester, Beattyville, Irvine, Richmond, Lancaster, Nicholasville, Harrodsburg, Wilmore, Versailles, Lawrenceburg, and Frankfort also draw water from the river for their municipal water supplies. It is estimated that more than 700,000 people depend on the river for water.

Lemuel Allen Farm is a historic home and farm located in Madison Township, Jefferson County, Indiana. The farmhouse was built in 1877, and is a 1+1⁄2-story, central passage plan, vernacular Italianate style brick dwelling. It features a side-gabled roof sheathed in slate shingles with triple-embedded and diamond patterns in red on either side of the front-gable on the façade. Also on the property are the contributing privy and large, transverse-frame basement barn, built around 1877, and a silo, the workshop, the granary, the garage, the feed shed, and a tool shed, all dated to the 1920s. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2016.

The Carrollton–Prestonville Bridge is a continuous truss bridge that carries U.S. Route 42 and Kentucky Route 36 across the Kentucky River between Carrollton and Prestonville, Kentucky. It carries approximately 9,640 cars a day as of 2009. The bridge is located just south of the confluence of the Ohio and Kentucky rivers. The original bridge was toll bridge that opened in 1900. In 1952, it was replaced by a new bridge just a few feet downstream. The piers and eastern approach of the original bridge remain.

Stone House on Kentucky River is located in Prestonville, Kentucky. It was built in 1835 and added to the National Register of Historic Places on January 8, 1987. It is located on Kentucky River. It is a five bay, two-story, central passage, dry stone house, about 22 by 46 feet (6.7 m × 14.0 m) in plan, built in about 1835. It has a two-story, two bay ell built at the same time. It is one of two known dry-stone houses in Carroll County. It was deemed notable as "a good and rare example of the transitional Federal/Greek Revival period."

Monitor is an unincorporated community located in Trimble County, Kentucky, United States. Monitor was once a vibrant community, with a school, post office, general store, and black smith in the early 1900s.

The House on KY 1492, near Milton, Kentucky, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984. It was built between 1800 and 1820 and was deemed notable as "an outstanding example of the Federal style" in Trimble County. It was described in 1982 as a one-and-a-half-story brick house, with brick laid in Flemish bond. Its facade had four bays including a pedimented entrance pavilion. The house was in deteriorated condition in 1982. It was located off Kentucky Route 1492. The house appears no longer to exist.
