Baynton House

Coulston (until 1934 called East Coulston) is a village and civil parish in Wiltshire, England, five miles northeast of the town of Westbury, just north of the B3098 road. The village lies under the north slope of Salisbury Plain and the parish extends south onto the Plain. The parish has an elected parish council called Coulston Parish Council. Coulston has a mix of old and new houses, about sixty-five in all. The number of buildings listed as of architectural or historic importance is thirteen (all listed Grade II). There is no shop or surviving public house.

Erlestoke is a village and civil parish in Wiltshire, England, on the northern edge of Salisbury Plain. The village lies about 6 miles (10 km) east of Westbury and the same distance southwest of Devizes. Erlestoke Prison, the only prison in Wiltshire, is within the parish.

The Wessex Ridgeway is a long-distance footpath in southwest England. It runs 136 miles (219 km) from Marlborough in Wiltshire to Lyme Regis in Dorset, via the northern edge of Salisbury Plain and across Cranborne Chase AONB. The footpath was opened in 1994. At Marlborough, the footpath meets the Ridgeway National Trail which continues into Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire. Two further long-distance footpaths extend to Hunstanton in Norfolk; together, the four paths are referred to as the Greater Ridgeway.

HM Prison Erlestoke is a Category C men's prison, to the east of the village of Erlestoke in Wiltshire, England. Erlestoke is operated by His Majesty's Prison Service, and is the only prison in Wiltshire.

The Senior Officers' School was a British military establishment formed in 1916 by Brigadier-General R. J. Kentish for the training of Commonwealth senior officers of all services in inter-service cooperation. It was created as part of a wider attempt by the British Army to create a coherent training plan for its officers. At first at Aldershot, the school was at Erlestoke, Wiltshire, from 1939 until its closure in 1961.

Great Cheverell Hill (grid reference ST966520) is a 33.2 hectare biological Site of Special Scientific Interest at Great Cheverell in Wiltshire, notified in 1971. The site consists of unimproved species-rich chalk grassland on the edge of Salisbury Plain, parts of it with over forty plant species per square metre, and supports some uncommon butterflies. Its slopes of the Lower Chalk mostly face south-west, and there are two combes. The sward is notable for upright brome (Bromus erectus) and sheep's fescue (Festuca ovina). Other plants include quaking grass! crested hair-grass, Bird's-foot-trefoil, dwarf thistle, small scabious (Scabiosa columbaria) and hoary plantain (Plantago media).

Marston is a small village and civil parish 4 miles (6.4 km) southwest of Devizes in Wiltshire, England. The parish lies south of Worton, away from main roads. Much of the boundary with Worton follows the Bulkington Brook, a tributary of the Semington Brook. Marston and the adjacent Worton were tithings of Potterne parish. In 1852, after a church was built at Worton, the tithings became a chapelry of Potterne. Worton and Marston later became separate civil parishes, formalised in 1894.The population of the parish peaked in the mid-19th century, reaching 190 at the time of the 1861 census. A decline followed, with a low point of 96 in 1931, after which numbers gradually increased to reach 177 in 2011.The parish elects a parish council with five members.There is a village green, with a Methodist chapel nearby. The nearest pub is the Rose and Crown in Worton, the Plough Inn at Marston having closed sometime before 1987. The nearest shop is the Post Office in Potterne. The local Anglican church is Christ Church, Worton, which was built in 1841 near the boundary with Marston in order to serve both villages.In 2014 Good Energy applied for planning permission to create a 4.9MW solar energy installation near the village.

Edington is a village and civil parish in Wiltshire, England, about 4 miles (6 km) east-northeast of Westbury. The village lies under the north slope of Salisbury Plain and the parish extends south onto the Plain. Its Grade I listed parish church was built for Edington Priory in the 14th century. Tinhead is the former name of the eastern half of present-day Edington, towards Coulston along the B3098 Westbury to Market Lavington road. Tinhead is labelled on the Ordnance Survey map of 1945 but not on the 1958 map. Today the combined settlement is Edington and the name survives only in Tinhead Hill and Tinhead Lane.

Edington Priory in Wiltshire, England, was founded by William Edington, the bishop of Winchester, in 1351 in his home village of Edington, about 3+3⁄4 miles (6 km) east of the town of Westbury. The priory church was consecrated in 1361 and continues in use as the parish church of Saint Mary, Saint Katharine and All Saints.

Bratton Downs (grid reference ST925522) is a 395.8 hectare biological and geological Site of Special Scientific Interest in Wiltshire, England, near the villages of Bratton and Edington, and about 3 miles (5 km) east of the town of Westbury. It was notified in 1971. The designated area consists mainly of chalk grassland, as well as some ancient woodland, and supports a diverse range of native flora and fauna. It overlays notable geological features—principally landforms created by glaciation in the Pleistocene.

Bulkington is a village and civil parish in the county of Wiltshire, England. The village is about 4.5 miles (7.2 km) west of Devizes and a similar distance southeast of Melksham. The northern boundary of the parish is the Summerham Brook, and the Semington Brook is the boundary to the west and south. Bulkington was one of the villages featured in the 2003 BBC2 television documentary A Country Parish.

Great Cheverell is a village and civil parish in Wiltshire, England, 5 miles (8.0 km) south of Devizes. In some sources the Latinized name of Cheverell Magna is used, especially when referring to the ecclesiastical parish. The parish includes Great Cheverell Hill, a biological Site of Special Scientific Interest consisting of unimproved species-rich chalk grassland on the northern edge of Salisbury Plain.
