William H. Turner Technical Arts High School

Miami Central Senior High School is a secondary school located at 1781 NW 95th Street in West Little River, Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States. Its current principal is Raymond Sands. Miami Central opened in 1959. Its school mascot and colors were chosen in honor of NASA and the inception of its space program, which was an event at the time of the school's opening. In the early 1990s, the school acquired a computer science magnet program, placed as part of the district's initiative to devote school space to certain magnet programs so as to attract minority students to less diverse schools. The school serves most of the northern fringes of the city of Miami, as well as parts of North Miami, Opa-locka, the village of Miami Shores, and the village of El Portal.

It also is accredited by Florida Association of Academic Non-Public Schools, Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools and Board of Regents of the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists. The population was 14,927 at the 2020 census, up from 11,535 in 2010. Gladeview was originally a neighborhood of the city of Miami when it was annexed in 1925. Northside station is a station on the Metrorail rapid transit service in Gladeview, Florida. This station is located near the intersection of 79th Street (SR 934) and Northwest 31st Avenue, opening to service May 19, 1985.

On November 15, 1937 an estimated 200 Ku Klux Klan members stormed the popular LGBT-serving nightclub, La Paloma, in an unincorporated area of Dade County, Florida, ordering patrons to leave and shutting the nightclub down for the evening.

Jumbo's was a restaurant in Miami's Liberty City neighborhood, in the U.S. state of Florida. The restaurant was named one of America's Classics by the James Beard Foundation in 2008. Jumbo's was opened in the late 1960's. Jumbo's was one of the first white-owned restaurants in Miami to employ and serve Black people. It closed after nearly 60 years in business during July 2014.

The archdiocesan charities include homeless shelters, legal services for the poor, an HIV/AIDS ministry, and the Missionaries of Charity and Society of Saint Vincent de Paul ministries to the poor. Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Miami is a separate non-profit organization operated by the archdiocese.
