Whitehorn, Calgary

Rundle is a residential neighbourhood in the northeast quadrant of Calgary, Alberta. It is bounded by 32 Avenue NE to the north, 16 Avenue NE (Trans-Canada Highway) to the south, 52 Street NE to the east and 36 Street NE to the west. The Sunridge Mall is located immediately west of the neighbourhood. Rundle is home to a large Lebanese group. Rundle was established in 1973 and was named after Robert Terrill Rundle, a missionary who worked in Western Canada in the mid-19th century. (Rundle is actually one of four communities built in the 1970s in NE Calgary. These four communities together are known as "The Properties", and all four were named after nearby mountains: Mounts Rundle, Pineridge, Whitehorn and Temple). It is represented in the Calgary City Council by the Ward 10 councillor.The community is served by the Rundle station of the C-Train LRT system. The postal code in this area is T1Y.

Calgary-Cross is a current provincial electoral district in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Created in 1993, the district is one of 87 districts mandated to return a single member (MLA) to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta using the first past the post method of voting. The district was created in the 1993 boundary redistribution from Calgary-McCall and Calgary-Montrose, and present boundaries covers the neighbourhoods of Whitehorn, Temple, Pineridge and Rundle in northeast Calgary.

Whitehorn station is a CTrain light rail station in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. It serves the Northeast Line (Route 202). The station opened on April 27, 1985, as part of the original Northeast line terminus until another extension, McKnight-Westwinds first opened on December 17, 2007. The station is located in the median of 36 Street NE, immediately to the north of Whitehorn Drive. The station is 9.8 km from the City Hall Interlocking. The station serves the community of Whitehorn and is adjacent to Horizon Industrial Park. 824 parking spaces are also included at the station. A small bus loop is located on the west side of the station, and was a major hub for bus routes connecting Calgary's far northeastern communities to the CTrain prior to the 2007 extension to McKnight-Westwinds. As of November 2018, this bus loop is no longer in use. Pedestrian overpasses connect the station to both sides of 36 Street NE. Stairs, escalators, as well as an elevator provide access down to the center-loading platform. As of 2011, there is now a grade-level access at the South end of the platform as well. In 2005, the station registered an average transit of 17,400 boardings per weekday.Whitehorn station has undergone renovations to accommodate 4 car trains and add a second platform entrance at Whitehorn Drive NE as well as upgrades to the station interior. Construction began in the Summer of 2010 and was completed in August 2011.

The station is located in the median of 36 Street NE, to the north of the intersection of 20 Avenue NE/Rundlehorn Drive, right in front of Sunridge Mall. The station is 8.4 km from the City Hall Interlocking. Pedestrian overpasses connect the station to both sides of 36 Street NE. Stairs, escalators, as well as an elevator provide access down to the centre-loading platform. The station serves Rundle and the Sunridge Mall with 350 parking spaces are included across the station. As part of Calgary Transit's plan to operate 4-car trains by the end of 2014, all 3-car platforms are being extended. In addition to a platform extension, Rundle station had upgraded station furnishings installed. Construction was completed in Fall 2013.In 2005, the station registered and average transit of 11,600 boardings per weekday.On January 20, 1993, a 4-year-old child, Michael MacIntosh, got his jacket sleeve stuck at the bottom of the escalator after straying from his family. Bystanders helped him stay conscious until paramedics arrived and free his injured left arm, this was later seen on Rescue 911 on May 4, 1993, on CBS.

Peter Lougheed Centre (PLC) is a 506,000 square foot hospital in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. It is under the auspices of Alberta Health Services, formerly the Calgary Health Region, providing medical and surgical services to Calgary but also Southern Alberta. The PLC has a 24 hours emergency department, an intensive care unit (ICU), and offers ambulatory care. It was named after Peter Lougheed, who served as premier of Alberta from 1971 to 1985. The hospital opened in 1988 with 500 beds, and today contains over 600 beds. The new East Wing was completed in 2008 and includes 140 inpatient beds, as well as a new intensive care and coronary care unit. It was also designed with a new roof-top helipad for emergency services.

The Village Square Leisure Centre is a 5.5 acre indoor leisure centre situated in the Pineridge community of north east Calgary, Alberta. The multipurpose recreational facility was built at the same time (although additions and redesigns have been made since) as the surrounding neighbourhood and is one of two leisure centres owned and operated by the City of Calgary. Attached to the leisure centre are a library, high-school, shopping centre, food court, and small professional centre. A skywalk pedestrian walkway similar to the +15 connects the leisure centre to the neighbouring high school, Lester B. Pearson. The walkway is used by staff and by day camp participants from the leisure centre who take advantage of the unused school gymnasiums in the summer.

Lester B. Pearson High School is a public senior high school located in Calgary, Alberta, Canada administered by the Calgary Board of Education. The school is named for Nobel Laureate and Canadian Prime Minister Lester B. Pearson. The school has offered the French Immersion program since 2003 and in the following year of September 2004, Lester B. Pearson became a fully accredited International Baccalaureate World School Lester B. Sunridge Mall is a major enclosed shopping mall in Calgary, Alberta containing 830,599 square feet / 77,165 m² of retail space. It is in the city's northeast quadrant, located at the corner of 36 Street NE and 20 Avenue NE, adjacent to the Rundle LRT station, sunridge Spectrum Movie Theatre, and the Peter Lougheed Centre. Sunridge Mall is owned and operated by Primaris Management Inc, a division of H&R REIT. Originally opened in October 1981, Sunridge Mall completed a $50 million renovation and expansion program.

Temple is a neighbourhood in the northeast quadrant of Calgary, Alberta. It is bounded to the north by McKnight Boulevard, to the east by 68 Street E, to the south by 32 Avenue N and to the west by 52 Street E. The land was annexed to the City of Calgary in 1961 and the neighbourhood (then named "The Properties" was established and development begun in 1977. "The Properties" were subsequently divided into Temple, Pineridge, Rundle and Whitehorn. It is represented in the Calgary City Council by the Ward 5 councillor.
