Deer Park is a village in Lake and Cook Counties, Illinois. Per the 2020 census, the population was 3,681. The village is one of the few left in the Chicago area that enjoy a green belt which is bordered by two large natural areas providing outdoor recreation and open space. The village is home to popular shopping and dining destinations: Deer Park Town Center and the Town Center Promenade. The town is also home to the Vehe Farm, an Illinois Centennial Farm. Residential zoning is mainly single family homes with lot of sizes of 1-acre (4,000 m2) or more. Upscale townhomes are available near the Deer Park Center. The Metra/Chicago & Northwestern train line provides commuter service to Chicago with stations in nearby Barrington and Palatine.

The Barrington Area Library, located at 505 N. Northwest Highway in Barrington, Illinois, serves the approximately 42,157 residents of the Barrington Public Library District. The largest geographic public library district in Illinois, the Barrington Public Library District covers a 72-square-mile (190 km2) area in Cook, Lake, Kane, and McHenry counties, and encompasses all or part of the communities of Barrington, Barrington Hills, Deer Park, Lake Barrington, North Barrington, South Barrington, Tower Lakes, Algonquin, Fox River Grove, Hoffman Estates, Inverness, Kildeer, Lake Zurich, Palatine, Port Barrington, and some unincorporated areas. Located in the center of the library district, the 60,000-square-foot (5,600 m2) library building houses a collection of 330,000 books, audiobooks, CDs, DVDs, audio and video downloads, and other items. The library's park-like campus includes a sculpture garden, and a series of gardens designed to spotlight native plants. Wi-fi service is available throughout the building and grounds.
