The station is located alongside Kamehameha Highway near its intersection with Kuala Street and is the main arterial connection for Skyline riders from Central Oʻahu and the North Shore, including Waipio, Mililani, Wahiawa and Haleʻiwa. It opened on June 30, 2023.In Hawaiian, "waiawa" means "milkfish water" and is the name of the ahupuaʻa in which it is located, referring to the fact it housed multiple fishponds and comprises the largest watershed on Oʻahu. The Hawaiian Station Name Working Group proposed Hawaiian names for the nine rail stations on the ʻEwa end of the rail system (stations west of and including Aloha Stadium) in November 2017, and HART adopted the proposed names on February 22, 2018.

The station is located alongside Ala ʻIke Street and can be accessed from a building on the college campus, with passengers using a tunnel to travel under Ala ʻIke Street and the eastbound track. It is the only station on the system not built on elevated tracks. It opened on June 30, 2023.In Hawaiian, "hālaulani" means "heavenly hālau, chief’s house, name of a star" and is the name of the ʻili (ahupuaʻa division) in which it is located. The Pearl Harbor National Wildlife Refuge is a National Wildlife Refuge on the island of Oʻahu, Hawaii. It was created in 1972 to mitigate the wildlife resource disturbances caused by construction of the Honolulu International Airport Reef Runway. The Refuge includes three units, the Honouliuli, Waiwa and Kalaeloa. The Honouliuli and Waiawa Units are managed under a cooperative agreement with the United States Navy. The Kalaeloa Unit was established during Base Realignment and Closure proceedings in 2001. Through these cooperative efforts with the Federal Aviation Administration, the State of Hawaii, and the U.S. Navy, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service made Pearl Harbor NWR a reality.

Kalauao station (also known as Pearlridge station) is a Skyline metro station in Waimalu, Hawaiʻi, serving the Pearlridge Center shopping mall. The station is located in the median of Kamehameha Highway above its intersection with Kaonohi Street. It opened on June 30, 2023 with a temporary 16-space park and ride lot.In Hawaiian, "kalauao" means "the multitude of clouds" and is the name of the ahupuaʻa in which it is located. The Hawaiian Station Name Working Group proposed Hawaiian names for the nine rail stations on the ʻEwa end of the rail system (stations west of and including Aloha Stadium) in November 2017, and HART adopted the proposed names on February 22, 2018. The Hawaiian name initially proposed for the station, Puʻuloa, means "long hill" and refers to an ʻili that marked the entrance to the bays of Puʻuloa.

In Hawaiian, wai piʻo means "curved water". As of the 2020 census, the CDP had a population of 12,082. The U.S. ZIP Code for Waipiʻo is 96797.

Waipahu High School is located at 94-1211 Farrington Highway in Waipahu on the island of Oʻahu in the state of Hawaiʻi. Waipahu High School was founded in 1938 under the Session Laws of 1937 and Act 191 of 1938. The first graduates of Waipahu High School were from the class of 1941. The last graduating class from the "termite palace" was the class of 1969. Clarence B. Dyson became principal in 1942. Zachary Sheets became the new principal of the school in August 2022, after former principal Keith Hayashi was appointed as Hawaii Department of Education Superintendent in July 2022. Preceding Hayashi was long-time principal Patricia Pedersen, who retired in July 2009 following the graduation of the Class of 2009 of Waipahu High. Waipahu High School offers Early College, which is a program that allows students to take college courses, from selected universities on the island, for free to further their education.

Pearlridge Center is the second largest shopping center in Hawaiʻi, after Ala Moana, and is Hawaiʻi's largest enclosed shopping center, located in ʻAiea. Opened in 1972 and expanded in 1976, the enclosed mall is split into three "phases" (Uptown, Downtown, and Phase Three) and overlooks historic Pearl Harbor and the USS Arizona Memorial. The property includes the only monorail in Hawaiʻi, the only emergency clinic located on mall property (Pali Momi Medical Center), and an eight-story office complex (Pearlridge Office Center). The mall is owned by Washington Prime Group. and is on land owned by Kamehameha Schools.It is served by Kalauao (Pearl Highlands) station on the Honolulu Skyline.
