Lookout Mountain, Georgia

The Lookout Mountain Fairyland Club on Lookout Mountain in Georgia, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It was designed by Chattanooga architect William Hatfield Sears. Grounds were enhanced by landscape architect Warren Henry Manning.The listing included 11 contributing buildings: a main clubhouse and ten cottages. The clubhouse has a tower and crenelations and 65 rooms. The cottages were each two-story and had six or more rooms.Its grounds had the world's second miniature golf course. This is associated with Rock City attraction, also listed on the National Register.

Rock City is a tourist attraction on Lookout Mountain in Lookout Mountain, Georgia. Opened in May 1932 (1932-05), the attraction gained prominence after owners Garnet and Frieda Carter hired Clark Byers in 1935 to paint "See Rock City" barn advertisements throughout the Southeast and Midwest United States; Byers painted over 900 barn roofs and walls, in nineteen states, by 1969.Since its earliest days, Rock City has claimed that it is possible to see seven states from a particular spot (Lover's Leap) in Rock City; a scientist at the University of Tennessee, when asked to prove the issue in 2007, pointed out that the claim refers to seeing mountains and other high points in many of these other states, adding that the claim was made long before the air pollution associated with the proliferation of automobiles and coal-fired power plants, and summed up with "I never thought it significant."

Covenant College is a private, liberal arts, Christian college in Lookout Mountain, Georgia, United States, located near Chattanooga, Tennessee. As the college of the Presbyterian Church in America, Covenant teaches subjects from a Reformed theological worldview. Approximately 1,000 students attend Covenant each year.

Lookout Mountain is a town in Hamilton County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 1,832 at the 2010 census. Bordering its sister city of Lookout Mountain, Georgia to the south, Lookout Mountain is part of the Chattanooga, TN–GA Metropolitan Statistical Area.

The Lookout Mountain Hotel is a grand resort hotel that was built on Lookout Mountain in Dade County, Georgia in 1928. The building is now part of the Covenant College campus, where it is named Carter Hall. It is nicknamed "The Castle in the Clouds". It is a five-story building designed by architect Reuben Harrison (R.H.) Hunt, and opened as a hotel on June 23, 1928. It was built as part of a tourism surge in the area. Nearby attractions similarly built in the Dixie Highway area there, and were supported by the 1927 paving of roads there, are Fairyland Inn (1925), Rock City Gardens (1932), and Ruby Falls (1930). It was extensively renovated in the late 1970s but was restored to be more like the original over a period of a decade, ending in 2017. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2019.

WMBW (88.9 FM, Moody Radio Southeast) is a non-commercial educational radio station licensed to Chattanooga, Tennessee serving the Chattanooga metropolitan area. Owned by the Moody Bible Institute since 1973, the station broadcasts a religious format and is the Chattanooga affiliate for Moody Radio. WMBW extends its signal by using a repeater, WMKW (89.3 FM), in Crossville, Tennessee. Local programming includes Moody in the Morning and The Journey Home, week-day drive-time programs.

Flintstone is an unincorporated community in Walker County, Georgia, United States. Located in northwestern Georgia, Flintstone lies approximately 12 miles south of Chattanooga, Tennessee, 120 miles northwest of Atlanta, 135 miles southeast of Nashville, Tennessee, and 150 miles northeast of Birmingham, Alabama. Although Flintstone is unincorporated, it has a post office, with the ZIP code of 30725; the ZCTA for ZIP Code 30725 had a population of 3,456 at the 2000 census.

Reflection Riding Arboretum and Nature Center (317 acres) is a nonprofit arboretum, botanical garden, nature center and historical site located at 400 Garden Road, Chattanooga, Tennessee. The facility includes the 317-acre arboretum, 15 miles of trails, live animals indoor and outdoors, and a treehouse. The nature center participates in the endangered Red Wolf Species Survival Plan or SSP, breeding red wolves in captivity. The riding was created by John and Margaret Chambliss, and incorporated in 1956 to a vision laid out in the 1940s. It is dedicated to the study and conservation of native plant life. The riding contains over 1,000 species of flora, with over 150 tree species. It includes a driving loop (3 miles) through woodland gardens, wildflower meadows, ponds, and along the banks of Lookout Creek, as well as some 12 miles (19 km) of walking trails and paths.

The Lookout Mountain Incline Railway is a 4 ft 8+1⁄2 in (1,435 mm) standard gauge inclined plane funicular railway leading to the top of Lookout Mountain from the historic St. Elmo neighborhood of Chattanooga, Tennessee. Passengers are transported from St. Elmo's Station at the base, to Point Park at the mountain summit, which overlooks the city and the Tennessee River. It is just a short drive to three of Chattanooga's main tourist attractions, Ruby Falls, Cavern Castle, and Rock City. The railway is approximately one mile (1.6 km) in length (single-track except for a short two-track passing loop at the midway point, allowing operation of two cars at one time). It has a maximum grade of 72.7%, making it one of the world's steepest passenger railways. It obtained Historic Mechanical Engineering Landmark status in 1991. The cable system for the cars was made by the Otis Elevator Company.

The Battle of Wauhatchie was fought October 28–29, 1863, in Hamilton and Marion counties, Tennessee, and Dade County, Georgia, in the American Civil War. A Union force had seized Brown's Ferry on the Tennessee River, opening a supply line to the Union army in Chattanooga. Confederate forces attempted to dislodge the Union force defending the ferry and again close this supply line but were defeated. Wauhatchie was one of the few night battles of the Civil War.
