Leroy Keener House

Seven Islands Methodist Church is a historic church located near the south bank of the French Broad River in Knox County, Tennessee. The church building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The congregation was founded in 1803, the first Methodist congregation established in Knox County. The church was built circa 1865. As of 1994 it was being used by a non-denominational congregation. The building was listed on the National Register in 1997.The church is part of a community that also includes a log house from the early 1800s, timber frame and brick homes from the 1830s and 1850s, and other churches. The Peter Keener home, located one quarter mile from the church and built circa 1790s still stands today. The Seven Islands Wildlife Refuge has been created to maintain the 19th century history of this area.

The Captain James Newman House is a historic home in Knox County, Tennessee, United States, located at 8906 Newman Lane. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The house was built adjacent to the French Broad River in 1898 by Captain James Newman, who owned and operated a riverboat on the river. Like most houses built along the French Broad River in that era, the house had a steamboat landing in its front yard. The two-story house is an example of Queen Anne style architecture in the United States.The house was listed on the National Register in 1998. It is privately owned.

Johnson University is a private Christian university with its main campus in Kimberlin Heights, Tennessee, and a second campus in Kissimmee, Florida. It is affiliated with the Christian churches and churches of Christ, a branch of the Restoration Movement.

Seven Islands State Birding Park is a state park in Knox County, Tennessee located east of Knoxville near Kodak along the French Broad River. The park was created for birdwatching. The diverse grassland landscapes and the river create a habitat for more than 180 species of birds. The park was opened on July 1, 2014 by state and local officials.

Kimberlin Heights is an unincorporated community in southeast Knox County, Tennessee. It is the location of Johnson University and SNMP Research International.

Midway is an unincorporated community in Knox County, Tennessee. Midway is 12.8 miles (20.6 km) east of Knoxville, just off Interstate 40 exit 402 (Midway Road). Seven Islands State Birding Park is located just south of Midway.

Keener-Johnson Farm is a historic farmhouse in Seymour, Tennessee, U.S.. It was built circa 1853 for Adam Harvey Keener. It has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since March 18, 1999.

Wheatlands is an antebellum plantation in Sevier County, in the U.S. state of Tennessee. The plantation's surviving structures— which include the plantation house, a storage shed, and smokehouse— have been placed on the National Register of Historic Places. The plantation house has been called "the best example of a Federal-style building remaining in Sevier County."Wheatlands, named after its large annual wheat crop, was established as a family farm by Revolutionary War veteran Timothy Chandler in 1791. Chandler's son, John Chandler (1786–1875), inherited Wheatlands in 1819, and under his direction the plantation grew to become one of Sevier County's largest farms, covering 3,700 acres (1,500 ha) by 1850. Chandler's freed slaves inherited part of Wheatlands in 1875, and formed the Chandler Gap community in the hills south of the plantation.

Thorn Grove is an unincorporated community in eastern Knox County, Tennessee, United States. It is located 15.4 miles (24.8 km) east of Knoxville and 2 miles (3.2 km) north of Midway. It is included in the Knoxville Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Boyds Creek is an unincorporated community in Sevier County, Tennessee, United States. It is named for a small southward-flowing tributary of the French Broad River of the same name, which itself derives its name from a Virginian trader, killed by a band of Cherokee people, whose body was thrown into the stream. The creek was the site of a 1780 battle (The Battle of Boyd's Creek) between white settlers and Cherokee angry at the settlers' encroachment onto their hunting territory.

Carter is an unincorporated community in eastern Knox County, Tennessee. It is included in the Knoxville Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Brabson's Ferry Plantation is a Pioneer Century farm and former antebellum plantation near the U.S. city of Sevierville, Tennessee. Located at what was once a strategic crossing of the French Broad River, by 1860 the plantation had become one of the largest in East Tennessee, and one of the few in the region that rivalled the large plantations of the Deep South in size and influence. The farm remains in operation, and several of its historic structures— including two plantation houses and an 18th-century plank house— have been added to the National Register of Historic Places. John Brabson II (1773–1848) established Brabson's Ferry Plantation after purchasing the plantation's namesake ferry in 1798, and acquired the surrounding fertile farmland over subsequent decades. Brabson's sons continued operating the plantation after his death, and established a business that catered to the ferry's traffic. As the Brabsons supported the Confederacy during the U.S. Civil War, their plantation was looted by Sevier County Unionists and toward the end of the war most members of the family were forced to flee. Several eventually returned, however, and by the end of the 19th century had rebuilt the plantation and ferry. The Brabson family still owns and manages the farm.
