Jackson County Courthouse is a two-story brick building designed by architect W.W. Thomas and built in 1879 in Jefferson, Georgia. Its Classical Revival clock tower was added in 1906. It was one of the first post-Civil War county courthouses built in Georgia. It is unusual for surviving little-altered since construction. In 2004, a new courthouse was built in Jefferson. It was renovated in 1978.Its courtroom has a "Cathedral quilt" pressed metal coved ceiling and egg and dart cornices.Its architect, William Winstead Thomas (1848-1904), was president of an insurance company but also designed buildings, including the White Hall estate house outside Atlanta and at least two other courthouses.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.

It is run by the Jackson County Schools Board of Education along with superintendent Dr. Philip Brown.

Gresham Motorsports Park (formerly Jefco Speedway, Georgia International Speedway and Peach State Speedway) is a half-mile (.8 km) paved oval auto racing track in Jefferson, Georgia. The track opened in 1967, named Jefco Speedway. Tom Pistone won the inaugural event, a NASCAR Late Model Sportsman race. Two NASCAR Grand National races were held at the track in 1968 and 1969, won by Cale Yarborough and Bobby Isaac. Since 1983, the track has held the World Crown 300 for late model stock cars. The track was renamed Peach State Speedway in the early 1990s. The circuit was renamed and extensively renovated in 2009. NASCAR started running K&N Pro Series East races in 2010.

The Mulberry River is a 28.2-mile-long (45.4 km) tributary of the Middle Oconee River in the U.S. state of Georgia. It rises in southeastern Hall County (Braselton) and flows southeast, forming the boundary between Jackson and Barrow counties, to join the Middle Oconee south of Jefferson. The river's name is an accurate preservation of the native Creek-language name Tishmaugu.
