Lovejoy High School (LHS) is a public high school in Hampton, Georgia, United States. It is the southernmost secondary school in Clayton County. Lovejoy is a part of the Clayton County Public Schools. Middle schools generally associated with Lovejoy High are Lovejoy Middle School, Mundy's Mill Middle School and Eddie White Academy. Lovejoy High School is one of two International Baccalaureate Organization-accredited schools in Clayton County.Clayton State University is the nearest post-secondary school, though some college-bound students enroll at the University of Georgia, Georgia Southern University, University of West Georgia, Georgia Gwinnett College and Georgia State University. Lovejoy High School offers a variety of sports, including football, basketball, tennis, golf, baseball, track, and soccer. The school's teams are known as the Wildcats.

Irondale is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Clayton County, Georgia, United States. The population was 8,740 at the 2020 census.

The Crawford-Dorsey House in Lovejoy, Georgia was first begun by William Crawford in circa 1820. The area was then Henry County. Then in the mid-1850s Mr. Stephen Dorsey bought the home. He then moved his home on log rollers to the site of the Crawford home and connected the two homes together to form one residence. In 1858, this part of Henry County became Clayton County. Mr. Dorsey also became a Judge for the county. He was married to Lucinda McConnell. By the time of the Civil War in 1861, he had amassed 2,400 acres of land in Clayton County and 500 acres in Henry County. He also possessed 41 slaves which made him one of the largest land and slave owners of Clayton County. The Civil War came to his home on July 28, 1864, during the McCook-Stoneman Raid. Judge Dorsey was hidden for fear of capture by the Union soldiers. Then the next incursion to his property was on August 20, 1864, during the Kilpatrick Raid to Lovejoy Station. The fighting began at Lovejoy and spread across Judge Dorsey's land on into Henry County. Then the Union Soldiers returned when General Hardee of the CSA lost at Jonesboro on August 31-September 1, 1864. Then General Hood CSA also abandoned Atlanta to move into Lovejoy where he stayed for approximately two weeks. Then the last time the Union forces came to Lovejoy and Mr. Dorsey's land was when General Kilpatrick came through on the March to the Sea and drove General Iverson CSA to Griffin. After the Civil War, in 1867 a group of women from Griffin brought a train of flat cars to Lovejoy and recovered approximately 700 skeletons to take to Griffin to start the Confederate Cemetery. Lovejoy and the Dorsey property would not change much. Mr. Dorsey filed for reparations from damages done during the war, but by 1881 he had gotten nowhere. By the time the 20th century would come around the Hastings Seed Company would come to the area to grow flowers, shrubs, and trees to be shipped everywhere. Even the Dorsey family had gotten in on the Nursery business and they still to this day have a tree farm in Henry County. The old Crawford-Dorsey House and family cemetery were placed on the National Register of Historic Places on July 5, 1984. The Clayton County Historical Society was thinking of restoring the old home for an attraction when it mysteriously burned in December 1984. From 1979 to 1984 there was extensive archaeological and artifact recovery done and shipped to the Atlanta Historical Society. The property had become part of the Clayton County Water Authority to be used as a sprayfield. The cemetery remains as well as the earthworks from the Civil War out behind where the old house once stood.

Lovejoy is a city in Clayton County, Georgia, United States. As of the 2010 census, the city had a population of 6,422, up from 2,495 in 2000. During the American Civil War, it was the site of the Battle of Lovejoy's Station during the Atlanta Campaign of 1864. Lovejoy is proposed by the Georgia Department of Transportation and MARTA to be the endpoint of metro Atlanta's first commuter rail line.

The Battle of Lovejoy's Station was fought on August 20, 1864, near what is now Lovejoy, Georgia, in Clayton County, during the Atlanta Campaign of the American Civil War. The two sides had arrived at something of a stalemate, with the Union army half-encircling Atlanta and the Confederate defenders staying behind their fortifications.

Stately Oaks Plantation is a Greek Revival antebellum mansion located in Margaret Mitchell Memorial Park in Jonesboro, Georgia. Built in 1839, the house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972. It is also known as Orr House, The Oaks, and Robert McCord House and it is included in the Jonesboro Historic District. Stately Oaks is owned by Historical Jonesboro/Clayton County Inc., and features the period house, the home's separate log kitchen, a well house, a tenant house, an 1896 country store, and a one-room schoolhouse. The house, along with Rural Home, was believed to be the inspiration for Tara, the legendary home of Scarlett O'Hara and her family in Margaret Mitchell's novel Gone with the Wind.

Mundy's Mill High School is a public school in the Clayton County Public Schools (CCPS) system in Jonesboro, Georgia, United States. The school's teams compete as the Tigers. It opened in October of 2002.

Golucke.This or a predecessor courthouse was designed by Maximilien van den Corput (c. 1825 – 1911), also known as Max Corput, a Belgian-American architect.The Twiggs County Courthouse and the Madison County Courthouse (Danielsville, Georgia) (1901), both designed by J.W. Golucke, have been noted to be similar.It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as a contributing building in the Jonesboro Historic District. In 1980, it was in use as a court offices building.A previous courthouse was destroyed in the August 20, 1864 cavalry raid of Judson Kilpatrick, which burned most of the town.

Jonesboro Historic District in Jonesboro, Georgia is a historic district that was listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) in 1972.Jonesboro was the setting of much of the 1936 novel Gone with the Wind; the fictional houses Tara and Twelve Oaks were placed near it, in Clayton County.It includes Stately Oaks, also separately listed on the NRHP, which is believed to be the inspiration for Tara.It includes the Clayton County Courthouse.

Jonesboro is a city in and the county seat of Clayton County, Georgia, United States. The population was 4,724 as of the 2010 census. The city's name was originally spelled Jonesborough. During the Civil War, the final skirmish in the Atlanta Campaign was fought here south of Atlanta, cutting off the city and forcing the mayor of Atlanta to surrender at Marietta in early September 1864. The final fall of Atlanta in the Battle of Jonesborough ended up being a decisive point in the nation's history, propelling Abraham Lincoln to re-election two months later, and continuing the war until the Confederacy finally surrendered the following year.

Lake Jodeco is a private 70 acre man-made lake in Clayton County, Georgia, east of Jonesboro, Georgia. The area now known as Lake Jodeco was once inhabited by the Muskogee Creek Nation.
