On May 30, 2021, twenty-three people were shot, of whom three were killed, in a mass shooting outside a banquet hall in Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States. Some of the suspects in the shooting are still at large.

The National Airlines Open Invitational was a professional golf tournament in south Florida on the PGA Tour. It was held in late March in Hialeah at the West Course of the Country Club of Miami in 1969, 1970, and 1971 At the time, it was among the richest events on tour, with a $200,000 purse and a $40,000 winner's share.Gary Player was the final champion in 1971, two strokes ahead of defending champion Lee Trevino, who won the previous year in a playoff over Bob Menne. Player's win was his 75th worldwide. In 1972, it was replaced on the schedule by the Jackie Gleason Inverrary Classic in Lauderhill, initially a month earlier in late February. Miami-based National Airlines co-sponsored its second edition in 1973, also won by Trevino, but not after. That tournament ended its affiliation with Gleason after 1980 and continues today as The Honda Classic in Palm Beach Gardens. The other PGA Tour event in the Miami area was the Doral Open, which began in 1962 and was usually played in early March. It was sponsored by competing carrier Eastern Air Lines, also Miami-based, from 1970 through 1986.

If completed, it would become the largest shopping mall in North America. The project shares its branding with American Dream Meadowlands in New Jersey; the second largest mall in the USA. The mall is being developed by the Triple Five Group, who own the 3 largest malls in North America: The Mall of America, the West Edmonton Mall, and the American Dream Meadowlands. The American Senior High School, or The American High School, is a high school located in Country Club, unincorporated Miami-Dade County, Florida. Its principal is Stephen E. Papp. It has been named a Blue Ribbon School of Excellence.

Dade Christian School is a private Christian school that enrolls kindergarten through 12th grade students in Miami, Florida. DCS was founded as a segregation academy in response to the court-ordered desegregation of Miami-Dade public schools. It is one of two private schools run by New Testament Baptist Church, a Southern Baptist church that also runs The Master's Academy. DCS had a 2018-2019 enrollment of 152.

Barbara Goleman Senior High School is a secondary school located at 14100 NW 89th Ave in Miami Lakes, Florida; its principal is Manuel Sanchez. Goleman is part of Miami-Dade County Public Schools Region I, and is school number 7751.The school is named after Barbara Goleman, the 1969 National Teacher of the Year and the only Miami-Dade County Public School teacher to receive this title.Due to the construction of a new senior high school, Hialeah Gardens High School (located in nearby Hialeah Gardens), Barbara Goleman welcomed sophomores-to-be from American Senior High for the 2008-2009 school year, replacing a portion of the class of 2011, which was transferred to the new school.

The City of Hialeah Educational Academy, also known as COHEA Career and Collegiate Academy is a public charter school in Hialeah, Florida.The school serves middle and high school students from 6th to 12th grade. The curriculum is designed with college prep in mind and has a STEM influence, although emphasizes emergency response, health, and law enforcement career paths. The school is located on a college-style campus. COHEA has been nationally recognized by Newsweek magazine, was named U.S. News & World Report's Best High Schools Silver Award, and was ranked on The Daily Beast's 2014 list of top high schools in the U.S. Due to the school's high level of free and reduced lunches, the school was also ranked among the most transformative schools in the country. Miami Lakes Educational Center (MLEC), is a vocational-technical training center in Miami Lakes, Florida. It is part of the Miami-Dade County Public Schools system and one of only three area vocational-technical training centers. It is one of two schools in Miami-Dade County, providing adult vocational training in conjunction with a full-service high school. This allows students to attend regular academic classes and technical or vocational training programs during the same day on the same campus.

Hialeah-Miami Lakes Senior High School is a public high school operated by Miami-Dade County Public Schools, located at 7977 West Twelfth Avenue in Hialeah, Florida, United States, on the boundary with the city of Miami Lakes. As of the 2021–22 school year, the school had an enrollment of 1,300 students and 95.0 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 18.1:1. There were 1,278 students (74.5% of enrollment) eligible for free lunch and 113 (6.6% of students) eligible for reduced-cost lunch.

Everglades High School is a public school located in Miramar, Florida, United States. The school serves approximately 2,425 students from Miramar and Pembroke Pines in grades 9 through 12. The current school hours are from 7:40 a.m. to 2:40 p.m. The most recent principal was Haleh Darbar, who was promoted effective February 1, 2022. In the 2007–08 school year due to overpopulation, another high school was constructed in Pembroke Pines, Florida, West Broward High School to resolve the overcrowding issue. Everglades High currently has an FCAT school grade of an "A" for the 2017–18 Academic School Year. Everglades has a student to teacher ratio of 22:1, above the state average of 15:1.
