Orchid is a town in Indian River County, Florida, United States. The population was 415 at the 2010 census and was the ninth highest-income place in the United States. It is ranked sixth in Florida locations by per capita income. Orchid is part of the Sebastian–Vero Beach Metropolitan Statistical Area. Most of the town is actually a gated community called Orchid Island Golf and Beach Club. East of SR A1A, there is a beach front condominium complex. The rest of Orchid is uninhabited islands. Some of the islands are Plug Island, Preachers Island, and Horseshoe Island. North of Horseshoe Island is Pelican Island, the first National Wildlife Refuge in the United States. Running along the town limits (mostly) is the historic, unpaved Jungle Trail.

The Wabasso Causeway Bridge is a two-lane concrete bridge spanning the Indian River (Intracoastal Waterway) in Indian River County, Florida. The bridge was built by Scott Construction Company and was completed in 1970. The Florida Department of Transportation numbers are 880051 and 880053. It crosses the Intracoastal Waterway at Statute Mile 943, southeast of unlighted day beacon #80. The two-lane bridge has a vertical clearance of 65 feet (20 m). The bridge replaced the old drawbridge that was built in 1927.

Wabasso Beach is a census-designated place (CDP) in Indian River County, Florida, United States. The population was 1,853 at the 2010 census, an increase of 72.4% since 2000. It is part of the Sebastian–Vero Beach Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Disney's Vero Beach Resort is a Disney Vacation Club resort located eleven miles north of Vero Beach in Wabasso Beach, on State Route A1A. Established in 1995, it was the first Disney Vacation Club resort to be constructed outside the Walt Disney World Resort.

Pelican Island National Wildlife Refuge is a United States National Wildlife Refuge (NWR), and part of the Everglades Headwaters NWR complex, located just off the western coast of North Hutchinson Island in the Indian River Lagoon east of Sebastian, Florida. The refuge consists of a 3-acre (12,000 m2) island that includes an additional 2.5 acres (10,000 m2) of surrounding water and is located off the east coast of Florida of the Indian River Lagoon. Established by an executive order of President Theodore Roosevelt on March 14, 1903, Pelican Island was the first National wildlife refuge in the United States. It was created to protect egrets and other birds from extinction through plume hunting.

Wabasso is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Indian River County, Florida, United States. The population was 609 at the 2010 census, down from 918 at the 2000 census. It is located at the intersection of U.S. 1 and SR 510. Wabasso is part of the Sebastian–Vero Beach Metropolitan Statistical Area.

The Indian River is a 121-mile (195 km) long brackish lagoon in Florida. It is part of the Indian River Lagoon system, which in turn forms part of the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway. It was originally named Rio de Ais after the Ais Indian tribe, who lived along the east coast of Florida, but was later given its current name. The Indian River extends southward from the Ponce de Leon inlet in New Smyrna Beach in Volusia County southward and across the Haulover Canal and along the western shore of Merritt Island. The Banana River flows into the Indian River on the island's south side. The Indian River continues southward to St. Lucie Inlet. At certain seasons of the year, bridges have tended to impede the flow of gracilaria (a red algae), resulting in an odor of hydrogen sulfide in the area.

The Old Town Sebastian Historic District, East is a U.S. historic district (designated as such on August 4, 2003) located in Sebastian, Florida. The district is bounded by Main and Washington Streets, Riverside Drive, and the FEC Railroad. It contains 13 historic buildings.

Mel Fisher's Treasure Museum is located at 1322 U.S. Highway 1, Sebastian, Florida. It houses exhibits on archaeology and the 1715 Spanish treasure fleet. Taffi Fisher, Mel Fisher’s daughter, opened the museum in December 1992 in an old abandoned fire station after renovating the building. The museum included a working conservation laboratory used to preserve artifacts recovered from underwater with an observation window for viewing conservation work from inside the museum.

The Old Town Sebastian Historic District West is a United States historic district (designated as such on January 6, 2004) located in Sebastian, Florida. The district is bounded by Palmetto Ave, Lake and Main Streets. It contains 15 historic buildings.

The Sebastian Grammar and Junior High School (also known as the Sebastian Elementary School) is a historic school in Sebastian, Florida. It is located at 1235 Main Street. On August 17, 2001, it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. The building is part of the Sebastian City Hall complex and currently houses a museum.
