Ditherington

Heathgates is a small suburb and the name of a notable roundabout in Shrewsbury, England; it is also the name for a short stretch of the A5191 road leading up to the roundabout, the wetlands found just off Telford Way nearby. Along with the Old Heath estate and the homes along First Avenue and First Terrace, it is also the name of the residential neighborhood and suburb that is close to the roundabout. There is a public house north of the roundabout, named The Heathgates. The roundabout is the junction of Whitchurch Road (the A5112, historically the A49), Sundorne Road (the B5062), Telford Way (the A5112), and Heathgates (the A5191 towards Shrewsbury town centre).

Sentinel Waggon Works Ltd was a British company based in Shrewsbury, Shropshire that made steam-powered lorries (steam wagons), railway locomotives, and later, diesel engined lorries, buses and locomotives.

Underdale is a district of the town of Shrewsbury, county town of Shropshire, England. It is situated between the suburbs of Monkmoor and Castlefields, and stretches from Shrewsbury Abbey to the Telford Way, which is situated towards the north of the town. Underdale Road runs parallel to Monkmoor Road and is roughly the same length. The suburb is an electoral district of Shropshire Council. It is currently a Liberal Democrat held ward. The population of the ward as taken at the 2011 Census was 4,495.The River Severn flows around the western edge of the area.

Ditherington Flax Mill (promoted as the Shrewsbury Flaxmill Maltings), a flax mill located in Ditherington, a suburb of Shrewsbury, England, is the first iron-framed building in the world, and described as "the grandfather of skyscrapers", despite its five-storey height. Its importance was officially recognised in the 1950s, resulting in it becoming a Grade I listed building. It is also locally known as the "Maltings" from its later use. The mill is in the hands of Historic England and is currently in use as a mixed-use workspace and exhibition following its official opening in 2022.

Monkmoor is a suburb located in the north-east of the town of Shrewsbury, Shropshire, England. It is connected to the suburbs of Underdale and Abbey Foregate. The ward's population in 2015 was 4,451. Much of Monkmoor is residential; there is approximately 1,904 households in the suburb and 1,939 total dwellings.

Sundorne is a suburb of the town of Shrewsbury, county town of Shropshire. It is located 2 km north of the town centre. The B5062 road begins at Heathgates Roundabout and is called Sundorne Road in the Sundorne area, before crossing the Shrewsbury by-pass (the A49) at Sundorne Roundabout and heading east towards Newport. Population (2001 census): 5123, reducing to 3,957 at the 2011 census.It is an electoral division of Shropshire Council, returning one councillor, and a ward of the town, returning a councillor to the town council. The suburb has its own library/community centre and also now has the main sports centre for the town (the Shrewsbury Sports Village). The sports centre hosted the counting for the 2009 elections to Shropshire Council and Shrewsbury Town Council. There is a pub on Sundorne Road, called the Coracle and another pub at Heathgates Roundabout, called the Heathgates.

Shrewsbury Academy is an 11-16 mixed secondary school with academy status in Shrewsbury, Shropshire, England. It was established in September 2016 following the amalgamation of Sundorne School and The Grange School, operating across the two former school sites known as Corndon Crescent Campus and Worcester Road Campus respectively.

The A5112 is a road in Shropshire, England that runs north–south through the town of Shrewsbury. It runs around the town centre, to the east, and acts as a quicker route through the town than going via the town centre. Starting north at Battlefield Island where it joins the A49 (52.7461°N 2.7182°W / 52.7461; -2.7182 (A5112 road (northern end))), it consists of Battlefield Road, Whitchurch Road, Telford Way, Robertsford Way, Bage Way, Pritchard Way, Hazeldine Way and Hereford Road. The junctions along it are Battlefield Roundabout, Battlefield Road Crossroads, Harlescott Crossroads, Heathgates Roundabout, Telford Way Roundabout, Crowmere Roundabout, Rea Brook Roundabout, Sutton Park Roundabout, Meole Brace Island, Hereford Road Roundabout and Bayston Hill Roundabout where it rejoins the A49, as well as the A5 (52.6825°N 2.7586°W / 52.6825; -2.7586 (A5112 road (southern end))). The road has a speed limit of 50 mph (80 km/h) between Meole Brace Island and the Telford Way Roundabout with a 40 mph (64 km/h) speed limit between the Bayston Hill Roundabout and Meole Brace Island, and between the Telford Way Roundabout and the Heathgates Roundabout, and a 30 mph (48 km/h) speed limit for the remainder of the route. The road crosses the River Severn on Telford Way Bridge and is a safe route during flooding of the river. The road was for a short time in the late 1980s and early 1990s the A49, which now runs around a bypass of the town.

Old River Bed, Shrewsbury is a Site of Special Scientific Interest located two miles north of Shrewsbury town centre, to the east of the A528 in Shropshire, England. It is currently owned and managed by Shrewsbury Town Council. The site is designated as a SSSI as it forms part of the former bed of the River Severn, which has been cut off from the main course of the river since the last glaciation. The Old River Bed is of particular value for the extensive sedge fen which now fills this cut-off meander of the River Severn. Although differing in its mode of origin, the Old River Bed is complementary to other wetland sites in North Shropshire. Castle Walk Footbridge spans the River Severn in Shrewsbury, England, and was the first prestressed concrete bridge in Shropshire. The footbridge was completed in November 1951, and built using balanced cantilever construction, with two cantilever sections and a central suspended span. The total central span is 150 ft. It was designed by L.G. Mouchel and Partners and built by Taylor Woodrow. It links the Castlefields area of the town to the northwest with the Cherry Orchard/Underdale part of town to the southeast.

Harlescott ( HARL-scott, locally also HOLS-kət) is a suburb of the town of Shrewsbury, county town of Shropshire. It is one of the most industrial parts of the town, and is the 5th most deprived ward in non-metropolitan Shropshire Neighbouring suburbs include Sundorne to the east and Ditherington to the south. Note that many locals, particularly those born before about 1985, use the term "Harlescott" to refer to a wider area than the council ward, including much of what is officially "Sundorne" (to the east of Whitechurch and Battlefield Roads) and also much of the Heathgates and Mount Pleasant areas (sometimes called "Heath Farm").
