Somerset County (Pennsylvania German: Somerset Kaundi) is a county in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. As of the 2020 census, the population was 74,129. Its county seat is Somerset. The county was created from part of Bedford County on April 17, 1795, and named after the county of Somerset in England. Somerset County comprises the Somerset, PA micropolitan statistical area, which is included in the Johnstown–Somerset, PA combined statistical area. The county is famous for being the crash site of United Airlines Flight 93, one of the four flights involved in the September 11 attacks, which crashed near the village of Shanksville after the flight's passengers struggled with Al-Qaeda hijackers for control of the plane, which terrorists intended to fly into either the U.S. Capitol or the White House.The Somerset County Amish community is the second oldest Amish community in the world that still exists, established in 1772. It is located in the South of the county around Meyersdale and Springs.

Somerset County Technology Center (SCTC) is a public vocational-technical school just outside Somerset, Pennsylvania. SCTC has eight sending high schools, in which students attend the center for one-half of the day and their home school for the other one half. It also offers adult education opportunities, both on- and off-site, to county residents.

The Negro Mountain Tunnel is a tunnel located in Negro Mountain in Somerset County, Pennsylvania. It was built by New York Central Railroad as part of the proposed but never completed South Pennsylvania Railroad, which over time became known as "Vanderbilt's Folly". The tunnel is located near milepost 116.7 on the Pennsylvania Turnpike where it is ten miles east of the Quemahoning Tunnel (also built for the railroad but never used by the Turnpike), 16 miles east of the Laurel Hill Tunnel (used by the Turnpike but bypassed in 1964), and seven miles west of the Allegheny Mountain Tunnel currently used by the Turnpike. When the newly formed Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission bought the South Pennsylvania Railroad's right-of-way in 1937, the Turnpike considered using the Negro Mountain Tunnel, but instead bypassed it, making it one of six tunnels bypassed along the highway, including Quemahoning and the original Allegheny Mountain Tunnel due to structural concerns, plus three used by the Turnpike but later abandoned.

Friedens is a census-designated place (CDP) that is part of Somerset Township in Somerset County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 1,523 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Johnstown, Pennsylvania Metropolitan Statistical Area.

UPMC Somerset is a non-profit, general acute care community hospital that was founded on January 31, 1921 and is located at 225 South Center Avenue Somerset, Pennsylvania 15501. It has 111 licensed beds and five operating rooms making it the largest hospital in Somerset County.On June 28, 2018, Somerset Hospital announced it was exploring an affiliation with the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC), and on November 1, 2018, the two entities announced that they had signed a binding integration and affiliation agreement. Somerset Hospital officially merged with UPMC on February 1, 2019, becoming UPMC Somerset.

Somerset Anglican Fellowship is a historic church building in Somerset, Pennsylvania. Completed in 1876 as St. Paul's Presbyterian Church, the church is a contributing property to the Uptown Somerset Historic District. and listed on the American Presbyterian/Reformed Historic Sites Registry

Somerset County Courthouse is a historic county courthouse building located at Somerset, Somerset County, Pennsylvania. It was built between 1904 and 1906, and is a two-story Classical Revival building measuring 146 feet by 112 feet, and 135 feet tall. It is built of Indiana limestone and sits on a sandstone foundation. The building has a terra cotta tile roof, and central tower with copper dome. It features a semicircular portico supported by four unfluted Corinthian order columns.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980. It is located in the Uptown Somerset Historic District.The Somerset County Soldiers' Monument (1888) stands at the northeast corner of Centre Avenue and Union Street, on courthouse grounds. About 100 feet east of it, between the courthouse and the old brick jail, stands the 142nd Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry Monument (2003).

The Uptown Somerset Historic District is a national historic district that is located in Somerset in Somerset County, Pennsylvania. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1995, with a boundary increase in 1997.
