State Correctional Institution – Somerset is a medium-security, all-male correctional facility located outside Somerset, Pennsylvania, about 70 miles southeast of Pittsburgh, and about five miles off the Somerset Interchange of the Pennsylvania Turnpike.

The Somerset Wind Farm is a wind farm in Somerset County, Pennsylvania with six GE 1.5 MW Wind Turbines that began commercial operation in October 2001. The wind farm has a combined total nameplate capacity of 9 MW, and produces about 25,000 megawatt-hours of electricity annually, which is roughly a 30% capacity factor. The wind farm was constructed by NextEra Energy Resources, based in Florida.The wind farm is just one-half mile (0.80 km) south of the Pennsylvania Turnpike, which makes its 215-foot-tall (66 m) towers easily visible to turnpike travelers.

Somerset County Technology Center (SCTC) is a public vocational-technical school just outside Somerset, Pennsylvania. SCTC has eight sending high schools, in which students attend the center for one-half of the day and their home school for the other one half. The Negro Mountain Tunnel is a tunnel located in Negro Mountain in Somerset County, Pennsylvania. It was built by New York Central Railroad as part of the proposed but never completed South Pennsylvania Railroad, which over time became known as "Vanderbilt's Folly". The tunnel is located near milepost 116.7 on the Pennsylvania Turnpike where it is ten miles east of the Quemahoning Tunnel (also built for the railroad but never used by the Turnpike), 16 miles east of the Laurel Hill Tunnel (used by the Turnpike but bypassed in 1964), and seven miles west of the Allegheny Mountain Tunnel currently used by the Turnpike. When the newly formed Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission bought the South Pennsylvania Railroad's right-of-way in 1937, the Turnpike considered using the Negro Mountain Tunnel, but instead bypassed it, making it one of six tunnels bypassed along the highway, including Quemahoning and the original Allegheny Mountain Tunnel due to structural concerns, plus three used by the Turnpike but later abandoned.

UPMC Somerset is a non-profit, general acute care community hospital that was founded on January 31, 1921 and is located at 225 South Center Avenue Somerset, Pennsylvania 15501. It has 111 licensed beds and five operating rooms making it the largest hospital in Somerset County.On June 28, 2018, Somerset Hospital announced it was exploring an affiliation with the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC), and on November 1, 2018, the two entities announced that they had signed a binding integration and affiliation agreement. Somerset Hospital officially merged with UPMC on February 1, 2019, becoming UPMC Somerset.

Somerset Anglican Fellowship is a historic church building in Somerset, Pennsylvania. Completed in 1876 as St. Paul's Presbyterian Church, the church is a contributing property to the Uptown Somerset Historic District. and listed on the American Presbyterian/Reformed Historic Sites Registry

Somerset County Courthouse is a historic county courthouse building located at Somerset, Somerset County, Pennsylvania. It was built between 1904 and 1906, and is a two-story Classical Revival building measuring 146 feet by 112 feet, and 135 feet tall. It is built of Indiana limestone and sits on a sandstone foundation. The building has a terra cotta tile roof, and central tower with copper dome. It features a semicircular portico supported by four unfluted Corinthian order columns.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980. It is located in the Uptown Somerset Historic District.The Somerset County Soldiers' Monument (1888) stands at the northeast corner of Centre Avenue and Union Street, on courthouse grounds. About 100 feet east of it, between the courthouse and the old brick jail, stands the 142nd Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry Monument (2003).

Somerset Area High School is a public high school in Somerset, Pennsylvania, United States, the county seat of Somerset County. The school serves about 700 students in grades 9-12 and is attached to the Somerset Area Middle School.
