Station Road is a street in the city centre of York, in England.

The Principal York is an historic Grade II listed building on Station Road, adjacent to York railway station, England. It is a five-storey building of yellow Scarborough brick and was completed in 1878, a year after the present station opened.

York Integrated Electronic Control Centre was a major signalling control centre on the East Coast Main Line railway between London and Edinburgh. The centre also contained the electrical control centre for the line and the LNE regional control office of Network Rail. Its responsibility for signalling across Yorkshire was transferred to York Rail Operating Centre in December 2018.

York City Rowing Club is a rowing club by the River Ouse in York, England. It has over 200 members, of all ages. The boathouse is on the west (here briefly south) bank of the river next to Lendal Bridge and in Memorial Gardens. The club has modern buildings but is three years older than the oldest coastal rowing club in Britain, Dover; it is 25 years younger than the oldest non-academic rowing club, Leander. The reach of canalised river it enjoys is unusually long – over 20 mi (32 km).

Scarborough Bridge carries the railway line to Scarborough over the River Ouse in York, England. The first bridge was built in 1845, and has been renovated and rebuilt at least twice since its initial opening. A new bridge was installed in 2015 at a cost of £6 million. The first bridge had a pedestrian walkway which was located between the two running lines on the deck of the bridge, this was later moved to the east side of the bridge (in the 1875 rebuild), and finally, in the 2010s rebuild, the walkway became a separate wider bridge. The bridge is still in daily use carrying Trans-Pennine services between Scarborough and either York, or Manchester and Liverpool.

The Windmill Inn is a pub on Blossom Street, immediately west of the city centre of York, in England. The oldest part of the pub is on the corner of Blossom Street and Queen Street, although until 1911 another building separated it from Queen Street. Dating from the late-17th century, it was constructed as two cottages and was probably part of reconstruction in the area following the Siege of York. This section is brick built, but with timber framed internal partitions. It contains early chimney breasts and a mid-18th century staircase, and the bay windows at the front date from 1785 or earlier, though they have been heavily altered.The building is first recorded as the "Windmill Inn" in a deed of 1735. At the time, it was owned by the Lee family, who had previously leased a windmill near the top of The Mount. Soon after the purchase, it was extended south along Blossom Street, and then in 1820 a further extension was added to the south, incorporating a carriage arch into the hotel's yard. A stable range was also added, behind the main range. In about 1890, the building was extended to the west, along Queen Street, with the extension incorporating parts of a mid-18th century building including its staircase, and doors dating to about 1840. When the inn was sold in 1867, it was advertised as one of the oldest in the city, and having stabling for 65 horses, with a total value of £800. Trade increased with the opening of York railway station nearby, and in 1893 it sold for £3,750, including a neighbouring brewhouse. By 1902, it had 21 bedrooms available, and it began catering to cyclists and motor car drivers.Legend holds that the pub is haunted by the ghost of a girl who was run over by a brewer's cart, and also by an ostler. A mysterious cold mist has been said to have been experienced. The York Press has listed the pub as one of the five most haunted in the city.As of 2022, the pub is owned by Greene King. Since 1968, the building has been grade II listed.

The North Eastern Railway War Memorial is a First World War memorial in York in northern England. It was designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens to commemorate employees of the North Eastern Railway (NER) who left to fight in the First World War and were killed while serving. The NER board voted in early 1920 to allocate £20,000 for a memorial and commissioned Lutyens. The committee for the York City War Memorial followed suit and also appointed Lutyens, but both schemes became embroiled in controversy. Concerns were raised from within the community about the effect of the NER memorial on the city walls and its impact on the proposed scheme for the city's war memorial, given that the two memorials were planned to be 100 yards (90 metres) apart and the city's budget was a tenth of the NER's. The controversy was resolved after Lutyens modified his plans for the NER memorial to move it away from the walls and the city opted for a revised scheme on land just outside the walls; coincidentally the land was owned by the NER, whose board donated it to the city. The NER memorial was unveiled on 14 June 1924 by Field Marshal Lord Plumer. It consists of a 54-foot (16-metre) high obelisk which rises from the rear portion of a three-sided screen wall. The wall forms a recess in which stands Lutyens' characteristic Stone of Remembrance. The wall itself is decorated with several carved swags and wreaths, including a wreath surrounding the NER's coat of arms at the base of the obelisk. The memorial is a grade II* listed building, and is part of a "national collection" of Lutyens' war memorials.

The City Walls Experience at Micklegate Bar is located in the southern gatehouse of the historical city walls of York, England. It is operated by the Jorvik Group (part of York Archaeological Trust) and uses maps, display screens and video presentations to tell the story of the fortifications surrounding the city.

Blossom Street is a road in York, in England, immediately west of the city centre.

The Odeon Cinema is a Grade II listed building immediately west of the city centre of York, in England. The Odeon Cinemas chain was keen to build a cinema in York, but it could not gain permission to construct a large building within the York city walls. Initial plans were toned down, and the resulting building is almost entirely of brown brick, with none of the tiles which often feature in Harry Weedon's work. Following these changes, permission was granted to build on Blossom Street, just outside the walls.The building opened as an Odeon Cinema on 1 February 1937. It was designed by Harry Weedon, with the assistance of Robert Bullivant, and with interiors attributed to Lily Deutsch. The construction cost £40,500. On opening, it had 1,484 seats: 934 in the stalls and 550 on the balcony. In 1972, it was converted to have three screens, with the balcony extended forward to form one 800-seat space and the rear of the former stalls split into two smaller screens, each with 111 seats. It was listed in 1981. The building is in the Art Deco style, and has a low front range, with a three-storey range behind, a tower to the left, and two-storey wings on either side. Part of the front range is occupied by shops. The tower retains an illuminated "Odeon" sign, rendered in Roman capital letters, not the chain's usual style.Odeon planned to close the cinema in 2003, with a 13,000-name petition leading to a short reprieve. It closed in 2006, but reopened in 2009 as part of the Reel Cinemas chain. In 2017, it was purchased by Everyman Cinemas and renovated to accommodate four screens, each with sofa seating.The official listing notes that "the architecture ... is well designed and executed, and is a good example of Odeon cinema design" and that original windows survive, along with some original design elements and ancillary rooms. John Brooke Fieldhouse describes it as having "... the overall texture of a building belonging to an ancient civilisation".

The Priory is a pub on Micklegate, in the city centre of York, in England. The building originated as four tenements in a row of seven, constructed in the mid-14th century, probably before 1369. From this period survives the jettying at the front, crown post roof trusses, and wattle and daub walls at attic level. The section now forming the pub had attics added in the 17th century, at which time a rear wing was added to what became 103 Micklegate. That tenement was refaced in brick in the following century. In the 19th century, shop fronts were inserted at ground-floor level, which largely survive, and 99 and 101 were combined into a single shop. 103 was created from two of the original tenements, and by 1818 it was the Coach and Horses pub. In the early-20th century, the freehold of the pub became owned by Richard Pickard's Charity, and they sold it in 1945 to Joshua Tetley's & Son brewery. The following year, they also purchased 99 and 101 Micklegate, and expanded the pub into them. The rear wall of 99 and 101 was rebuilt in brick in 1958. The remainder of the tenements were demolished in 1961. In 1968, the building was Grade II listed. The pub was later renamed as The Coach, then the Phalanx and Firkin, and in 2003 as The Priory, after Micklegate Priory, the gateway to which neighboured the building.

The former York railway station served the city of York, England between 1841 and 1877. It is a Grade II* listed building.
