Everest Public High School is a college preparatory, tuition-free, and public charter high school in Redwood City, California, United States. The school, which was modeled after Summit Preparatory Charter High School in Redwood City, opened in August 2009 following State approval of the Everest charter.In 2016, Everest received U.S. News & World Report's Best High Schools Gold Award, ranking it as #21 in California and #186 nationally. The AP® participation rate at Everest Public High is 97 percent. The student body makeup is 52 percent male and 48 percent female, and the total minority enrollment is 71 percent. GreatSchools has given Everest a 9 out of 10 rating.The location of the school has been disputed, with Sequoia District seeking to relocate it to East Palo Alto, but a lawsuit with the district was settled in May 2010. In August 2011, Everest moved to its permanent location on 5th Avenue in Redwood City.Everest admits roughly 100 freshmen each year. As per California state charter law, when the number of applicants to a charter school exceeds the number of open spots, offers of admission are distributed through a blind lottery.

Atherton station is a former Caltrain station in Atherton, California. The station had one side platform and one island platform serving the two tracks of the Peninsula Subdivision, with a concrete and wooden shelter on the west side of the tracks. The station opened by the Southern Pacific Railroad in 1866 as Fair Oaks and was renamed Atherton in 1912. Caltrain cut weekday service to the station in 2005 due to low ridership and a hold-out rule that prohibited two trains from being at the station simultaneously. Weekend service continued until December 2020.

Rancho de las Pulgas was a 35,240-acre (142.6 km2) 1795 Spanish land grant in present-day San Mateo County, California to José Darío Argüello. The literal translation is "Ranch of the Fleas", probably named after a village of the local Lamchin people. The grant was bounded by San Mateo Creek on the north and San Francisquito Creek on the south, and extended about one league from San Francisco Bay to the hills. The grant encompassed present-day San Mateo, Belmont, San Carlos, Redwood City, Atherton and Menlo Park.

The school comprises a middle school, grades 6–8, with approximately 230 students and a high school, grades 9–12, with about 580 students. The middle and high school share a campus and have some overlapping administration, such as the Head of School. Menlo was established in 1915 and in 1927, a junior college was added, which later became Menlo College. The college was formally separated from Menlo School in 1994, but the two institutions shared a single dining hall until 2017, when Menlo School built a separate cafeteria.Menlo School is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges and is a member of the National and California Associations of Independent Schools. Menlo's tuition for the 2022–2023 school year was $58,700, a 48.6% increase from the 2014–2015 school year.

Atherwood is a subdivision in Redwood City, California, that was built in 1950 by housing developer Joseph Eichler. It was one of Eichler's first developments working with an architect and his first major subdivision in San Mateo County. It consists of 64 original single family homes designed by architectural firm Anshen and Allen based on their AA-1 design. The Atherwood subdivision is accessed by Atherwood Avenue off of SR-84 and is located at the border of Atherton and Redwood City.
