Damüls

Damüls-Mellau is a ski area in Vorarlberg, Austria. It is most popular for its snow safety. In 2006, the village Damüls was awarded the honorary title 'snowiest village of the world'.

The Bregenzerwald (German: Bregenzerwald, pronounced [ˈbʁeːɡɛnt͡sɐˌvalt] ) is one of the main regions in the state of Vorarlberg (Austria). It overlaps, but is not coterminous with, the Bregenz Forest Mountains, which belong to a range of the Northern Limestone Alps, specifically the northern flysch zone. It is the drainage basin of the Bregenzer Ach river.

The Glatthorn (obsolete: Damülser Horn) in Vorarlberg in Austria is the highest mountain in the Bregenz Forest Mountains with a height of 2,133 m (AA). It lies west of and above the saddle of Faschinajoch, between Damüls to the north and Fontanella in the Großwalsertal to the south.

The Bregenz Forest Mountains, also the Bregenzerwald Mountains (German: Bregenzerwaldgebirge), are a range of the Northern Limestone Alps and Eastern Alps, named after the town of Bregenz. The Bregenz Forest Mountains are located entirely in the Austrian state of Vorarlberg.

Damülser Mittagsspitze is a 2,095 m (AA) high mountain in the Bregenz Forest Mountains in the Austrian state Vorarlberg. The normal route starts from the upper station of a chairlift at 1810 m and is UIAA grade I.

Vorarlberg ( FOR-arl-burg, Austrian German: [foːɐ̯ˈarlbɛrk] ; Vorarlbergisch: Vorarlbearg, Voralbärg, or Voraadelbearg) is the westernmost state (Land) of Austria. It has the second-smallest geographical area after Vienna and, although it also has the second-smallest population, it is the state with the second-highest population density (also after Vienna). It borders three countries: Germany (Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg via Lake Constance), Switzerland (Grisons and St. Gallen), and Liechtenstein. The only Austrian state that shares a border with Vorarlberg is Tyrol, to the east. Vorarlberg is also the only state in Austria in which the local dialect is not Austro-Bavarian, but rather an Alemannic dialect; it therefore has much more in common culturally with (historically) Alemannic-speaking German-speaking Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Baden-Württemberg, Bavarian Swabia, and Alsace than with the rest of Austria, southeastern Bavaria, and South Tyrol. Vorarlberg is to a large extent mountainous. About 37% (97,000 hectares) of its surface is forest.

Furkajoch (el. 1761 m.) is a high mountain pass in the Austrian Alps in the Bundesland of Vorarlberg. It connects the valley of the Bregenzer Ach (Bregenzer Wald) near Damüls with the Frutz valley near Laterns. The road is very popular with motorcycle riders and is closed in winter.

The Kanisfluh is a mostly isolated massif in the central Bregenz Forest Mountains between the municipalities Mellau and Au.The Kanisfluh is considered the most famous mountain and landmark of the Bregenz Forest, Vorarlberg, Austria.
