Dorset County Council's 2013 mid-year estimate of the population of the civil parish is 100.Beer Hackett was not recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086. The nave and west tower of the parish church were originally built in the early 15th century, though the whole building was radically restored in the 19th century.

Ryme Intrinseca ( ) is a village and civil parish in northwest Dorset, England, 4 miles (6.4 km) south of Yeovil and 1 mile (1.6 km) west of Yetminster. It is sited on a low ridge of cornbrash limestone on the edge of the Blackmore Vale. The Intrinseca part of the name derives from the existence of the manors of Long Bredy and Langton Herring in the south of the county which also went by the name Ryme; that Ryme was known as Ryme Extrinsica but the name has long fallen out of use. In the 2011 census the parish had a population of 115.The church at Ryme Intrinseca, which dates back to the 13th century, is dedicated to St. Hippolytus and there are only two churches dedicated as such in England: cf. St Ippolyts, a village on the southern edge of Hitchin in Hertfordshire. The chancel and nave of the church are basically from the 13th century, but architecturally the most interesting features lie in the unusual 17th-century work which includes the east window and most of the windows in the nave, (including the little trefoil placed high to light the pulpit). Also from the early 17th century is the tower, with its intricate profile caused by the projecting stairway. There is an alms dish in the church which was lost in 1873 and found its way back to Dorset from Bideford in Devon in 1938. Ryme once constituted a separate liberty, containing only the parish itself.

Thornford is a village and civil parish in north west Dorset, England, situated in the Yeo valley 4 miles (6.4 km) southwest of Sherborne. Dorset County Council's 2013 mid-year estimate of the population of the parish is 830.Thornford is in Thornhackett Parish, a combined parish comprising the villages of Thornford and Beer Hackett. The Parish Council comprises seven elected members from Thornford and three from Beer Hackett, all of whom serve a four-year term of office. The village has a general store and post office, a pub, a primary school, a Norman church, a village hall, a recreation field, a cricket club and a railway station. Thornford railway station is on the Heart of Wessex Line running between Bristol and Weymouth. Thornford is also served by Damory Coaches bus 74 running between Yeovil and Sherborne.There are four buses each way Monday to Friday and no buses run on Saturday nor Sundays Thornford is mentioned in the Domesday Book where it is called Torneford and is listed as belonging to the Bishop of Salisbury. Archeological finds suggest Bronze Age or earlier inhabitation. A Roman villa has been excavated close to the village.There are a number of Grade II listed buildings in the village, the centre of which, dominated by a Victorian clock tower, was designated a Conservation area in 1994. The most recent Grade II listing (in February 2008) is the British Telecom telephone box.

Chetnole is a village and civil parish in the county of Dorset in southern England. It lies approximately 6 miles (9.7 km) south-southwest of Sherborne and 5.5 miles (8.9 km) southeast of Yeovil in Somerset. It is sited on Oxford clay by the small Wriggle River at the western end of the Blackmore Vale. There are around 128 houses in the village. It has a railway station on the Heart of Wessex Line that is served by Great Western Railway services. Dorset County Council estimate that in 2013 the population of the parish was 330. In the 2011 census the population of Chetnole parish combined with the small parish of Stockwood to the west was 344.Chetnole was not recorded in the Domesday Book in 1086.

Bradford Abbas Railway Cutting (grid reference ST592145) is a 1.4 hectare geological Site of Special Scientific Interest in Dorset, notified in 1990.

Bradford Abbas is a village and civil parish in north-west Dorset, England, on the border with Somerset. The village is 3 miles (5 km) south-east of Yeovil and 5 miles (8 km) south-west of Sherborne. The parish includes the small settlement of Saxon Maybank to the north, and had a population of 975 at the 2011 Census.The name of the village signifies the "Abbot's broad ford" on the River Ivel, the abbot in question being that of Sherborne; the land was given to Sherborne Abbey by King Alfred the Great. In the dry summer of 2010 cropmarks in sun-parched fields of barley, visible from the air, revealed the existence of a previously unsuspected 1st-century temporary Roman camp, one of only four detected in southwest Britain. In the 19th century five Roman kilns were found in a field to the east of the village. Also found at the site were pottery, roof slates, bracelets and querns.

Stockwood is a village and civil parish in west Dorset, England, around eight miles south-west of Sherborne and less than a mile away from Chetnole railway station on the Heart of Wessex Line. There are a few houses on the road leading to the A37 between Yeovil and Dorchester. In 2001 the parish had a population of 27. St Edwold's Church, often described as Dorset's smallest church, is located in Stockwood.

Clifton Maybank is a hamlet and civil parish in the English county of Dorset. It is located about a mile southwest of the village of Bradford Abbas. It is known for Clifton Maybank House, a country house with surviving Tudor fabric. Dorset County Council estimate that the population of the parish in 2013 was 40.
