Murrieta Mesa High School (MMHS) is a comprehensive, four-year high school located in Murrieta, California, United States. It is operated by the Murrieta Valley Unified School District. The school opened in 2009 to keep up with population growth in Murrieta. The first graduating class was the class of 2012. The school derives its name from the mesa it sits on, identified in an 1884 surveyor's map of the valley.

Calvary Murrieta Christian Schools (CMCS) is a private Christian school education system in Murrieta, California, United States, which was founded by the Calvary Chapel of Murrieta Church. CMCS runs three schools at Pre-School, Elementary and Junior High level and is based at 24275 Monroe Avenue, Murrieta, CA 92562.

The Temecula Valley is a graben rift valley in western Riverside County, California. The Temecula Valley is one of the graben valleys making up the Elsinore Trough, created by the Elsinore Fault Zone. It lies between the Wildomar Fault on the east, at the foot of the Temescal Mountains and of the Temecula Basin and the Willard Fault on the west, at the foot of the Santa Ana Mountains. The Temecula Valley lies northwest of Temecula Creek, and its head (33°36′46″N 117°17′33″W) is south of the Elsinore Valley, from which it is divided by a low rise between the Temescal and Santa Ana Mountains. The valley is drained by Murrieta Creek, Temecula Creek, and their tributaries. Their confluence forms the Santa Margarita River.The original centers of the cities of Murrieta, Temecula and Wildomar are located in the Temecula Valley.

Murrieta Valley High School (MVHS), colloquially known as MV or Murrieta opened in 1990 as the first four-year comprehensive high school in Murrieta, California. The school is nestled at the base of the Santa Rosa Plateau, at the western end of the city. It is operated by the Murrieta Valley Unified School District. MVHS is a California Distinguished School, and is fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.

Rancho Temecula was a 26,609-acre (107.68 km2) Mexican land grant in present-day Riverside County, California given on December 14, 1844 by Governor Manuel Micheltorena to Feliz Valdez. The grant extended south along the east bank Murrieta Creek to Temecula Creek and encompassed present-day Temecula, Murrieta and Murrieta Hot Springs. At the time of the US patent, Rancho Temecula was a part of San Diego County. Riverside County was created by the California Legislature in 1893 by taking land from both San Bernardino and San Diego Counties.

Vista Murrieta High School (VMHS) is a comprehensive, four-year high school located in Murrieta, California, United States. It is operated by the Murrieta Valley Unified School District. It opened in August 2003, relieving the overcrowding at Murrieta Valley High School, which had been the district's only comprehensive high school until that time. During the 2022–2023 school year, the school served over 3,800 students. The campus sits on 68 acres (280,000 m2) overlooking most of the City of Murrieta to the south. VMHS is a four-year comprehensive high school accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (as of 2006). The current principal is Celeste Scallion, who took over after the 2020–2021 school year, after former principal Mick Wager. This school was named "the most spirited school in the nation" from MaxPreps.com on March 31, 2009, as well as 2010. It was awarded the same title from Varsitybrands.com for the 2015–2016 school year, and recently won the title again for the 2022–2023 school year. It is a California Distinguished School. In the 2022–2023 school year, Vista Murrieta celebrated its 20th anniversary, after opening in 2003. Celebrations included a 20th anniversary themed Homecoming, 20th anniversary flags on light posts around the school, and merchandise including sweatshirts and baseball caps. Although this was their 20th year open, the school's 20th graduating class will walk in 2026.

Calvary Chapel Bible College is an evangelical Christian biblical studies college at 39407 Murrieta Hot Springs Road in Murrieta, California. It is a ministry of Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa. It operates on a 15-week spring and fall semester schedule. Classes offered include individual books of the Bible, topical courses (in Worship, Missions, Apologetics, Christian Leadership, and Biblical Greek and Hebrew), Old and New Testament Surveys, Practical Christian Ministry, Community Worship, and Chapel.

Murrieta Hot Springs is a neighborhood in the eastern region of Murrieta, California, which was annexed on July 1, 2002. Prior to annexation, Murrieta Hot Springs was a Census-designated place of Riverside County, California. The population was 2,948 at the 2000 census.French Valley Airport (FAA designator: F70), near Murrieta Hot Springs, has a 6,000-foot (1,800 m) runway.

Linda Rosa, or Linda Rose, is a former populated place, formerly in San Diego County, now in Riverside County, California. The town site of Linda Rosa was located southwest of the old town of Murrieta, California on the west side of Murrieta Creek. Linda Rosa is a name derived from Spanish meaning "pretty rose".Linda Rosa was one of the many land development schemes of the 1880s in Southern California. In 1887, the Santa Rosa Land & Improvement Company, belonging to the Englishman, Parker Dear, owner of the Rancho Santa Rosa subdivided the 400-acre Linda Rosa Tract southwest of Murrieta along the California Southern Railroad line. The company spent approximately $5,000 building a depot, but the railroad did not make Linda Rosa a scheduled stop. The Linda Rosa Hotel was built by the land company in 1888 at an estimated cost of $15,000. The large hotel provided a place where visitors and land buyers could stay.Linda Rosa Fruit Canning and Preserving Company was formed on June 30, 1888, to grow and can fruit and vegetables. Linda Rosa had its own post office, Linda Rose, from November 20, 1888, to March 20, 1890. When the land boom went bust, the town lots failed to sell and the office was closed and mail service was moved to Temecula Station. The hotel was torn down and used to build a house. With the failure of his development, Parker Dear went bankrupt and lost the rancho to his bank in 1893.

The Murrieta Hogbacks are Miocene basalt capped granitic hogbacks located in northeastern Murrieta on the southern end of the Temescal Mountains of Riverside County, California.

Willow Springs Station was a changing station at Alamos or Willow Springs along the Second Division route of the Butterfield Overland Mail, in what is now Murrieta, in Riverside County, California. It was also known as Alamos, Clines's or Kline's, or Willows, was one of the later Butterfield Overland Mail stations, placed in 1859, between some of the original stations for changing teams and providing water between stops in hot dry areas. Willow Springs, also originally known as Alamos Springs, was located west of the hills that line the east side of the Temecula Valley, on land of the Rancho Temecula, near Santa Gertrudis Creek on the low flood plain of Murrieta Creek, between Santa Gertrudis and Warm Springs Creek.
