Duropolis is the name of an archaeological site at Winterborne Kingston in the English county of Dorset, believed to be the remains of the first planned town in Britain. The site's first discoveries were made in 2008 led by co-directors Miles Russell and Paul Cheetham. The 32,000 square metres (340,000 sq ft) Iron Age settlement is believed to date to around 100 BCE, making it 70 years older than the Roman town of Silchester.

Winterborne Muston is a village in Dorset, England. The first name of "Winterborne" comes from the River Winterborne, which flows from west to east through the village. The river only flows overground during the winter, hence the name. To the west is Winterborne Kingston and to the east is Anderson. The river flows through both these villages as well.

Anderson, sometimes known as Winterborne Anderson, is a small village and civil parish in Dorset, England, situated in the Dorset administrative district about 9 miles (14 km) northwest of Poole. To the west are Winterborne Muston and Winterborne Kingston and to the east are Winterborne Tomson (which is also within Anderson parish) and Winterborne Zelston. In 2013 the estimated population of the parish was 60. Anderson Manor was built for the third John Tregonwell of Milton Abbas in 1622. It is constructed out of dark red brick with bands of vitrified headers. The civil parish was formed in 1933, following the merger of Winterborne Anderson and Winterborne Tomsom.

Anderson Manor is a Grade I listed manor house in the Dorset village of Anderson in England. It was built in 1622 for John Tregonwell. Today it is privately owned, but its gardens are open to the public under the National Gardens Scheme. The gardens are Grade II listed in the National Register of Historic Parks and Gardens.

Woodbury Hill is a hill near Bere Regis in Dorset, England. It is the site of an Iron Age hillfort (a scheduled monument), and the location of an annual fair from medieval times until the mid 20th century.

Combs Ditch is a linear earthwork in Dorset on Charlton Down. It was once at least 6.4 km long but now only 4.4 km is visible. It is sometimes spelt Comb's Ditch or Combe Ditch. The earthwork consists of a bank with a ditch on the north east side. Combs Ditch forms the boundary between several parishes in Dorset. The parishes of Charlton Marshall and Spetisbury lie to the north east of Combs Ditch while Winterborne Whitechurch, Winterborne Kingston and Anderson lie to the south west.Combs Ditch is to the north of the Roman road that ran from Badbury Ring to Dorchester but there is no evidence that it intersected the road. The bank ranges from 5.4 m to 8.5 m wide with a maximum height of 2.2 m. The ditch varies in width from 4.8 to 8.5 m. Excavation found third- or fourth-century Roman pottery lying on the turf line behind the bank probably before its final reconstruction. The limited excavation seems to show an Iron Age boundary ditch being enlarged into a defensive earthwork in the late Roman or post-Roman period. This is similar to the nearby linear earthwork of Bokerley Dyke. It is a scheduled ancient monument.

Winterborne Tomson is a village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Anderson, in the Dorset, district, in the ceremonial county of Dorset, England. In 1931 the parish had a population of 35. On 1 April 1933 the parish was abolished and merged with Anderson.

St Andrew's Church in Winterborne Tomson, Dorset, England, was built in the 12th century. It is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade I listed building, and is a redundant church in the care of the Churches Conservation Trust. It was declared redundant on 1 June 1972, and was vested in the Trust on 26 March 1974.The small flint and stone Norman Anglican Church of St Andrew has an apse at the east end and a barrel vault roof which curves around it. The roof was replaced and windows inserted in the 16th century. The oak door is heavily studded. The interior has limewashed walls, a 15th-century font and flag stone floor, along with early 18th-century oak fittings. The eighteenth century oak pews, the pulpit, screen, communion rails and matching table with barley sugar turned legs, and other woodwork were provided by William Wake, Archbishop of Canterbury, who had been raised in the village of Shapwick and whose family lived locally. The west end has a late medieval gallery with a panelled front which was probably originally a rood screen. The roof is topped by a small weatherboard belfry which resembles a dovecote.By the early 20th century, the church had fallen into disrepair and was being used as an animal shelter by a local farmer. Repairs were paid for by the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings who sold a collection of Thomas Hardy’s manuscripts to raise the funding. The work was supervised by A. R. Powys who also oversaw the work at the Old St Cuthbert's Church, Oborne.

Bere Regis () is a village and civil parish in Dorset, England, situated 6 miles (9.7 km) north-west of Wareham. In the 2011 census the civil parish had a population of 1,745. The village has one shop, a family-owned cheese barn, a post office, and two pubs, The Royal Oak and The Drax Arms. The parish church is St. John the Baptist Church. The village features in the Domesday Book of 1086.

Bloxworth House is a Grade I listed manor house just northwest of the village of Bloxworth in Dorset, England. It was built in 1608 by George Savage and was the first brick building in Dorset.

Shitterton is a hamlet in Bere Regis, Dorset, England. It includes a collection of historic thatched buildings dating back to the 18th century and earlier. Its name dates back at least the eleventh century and means "farmstead on the stream used as an open sewer". Shitterton has frequently been noted on lists of unusual place names, due to having the vulgar term "shitter" in its name.
