Belt Line station is a DART station in Irving, Texas. It is located on Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport property and serves the Orange Line. The station opened in December 2012 and was the terminus of the Orange Line until the DFW Airport station opened on August 18, 2014.

Dallas College North Lake Campus station is a DART Light Rail station in the Las Colinas development of Irving, Texas. It is on the Orange Line and serves adjacent Dallas College North Lake Campus. The station was proposed to be opened July 30, 2012 as a transfer point between three modified bus routes, but it was delayed until December 3, 2012, with the expansion of the Orange Line to Belt Line station.The station was known as North Lake College station until 2021, when it was renamed at the request of Dallas College. In 2020, the college had consolidated seven previously separate institutions under one accreditation.

Dallas College North Lake Campus (often referred to as North Lake or NLC) is a public community college in Irving, Texas. It is part of Dallas College. It opened in 1977 and enrolls about 5,000 credit students and an additional 3,000 continuing education students.

North Lake Early College High School, also known as North Lake Collegiate Academy, is a public high school located in Dallas County, Texas and operated by the Dallas Independent School District (DISD). It has a campus for 9th and 10th grade students at the main campus at North Lake College in Irving and will have a campus for 11th and 12th grade students in the future. Under Texas law, DISD can have operations, including schools, outside of its own boundaries, and North Lake College is not in the DISD boundaries. The school opened with grade 9 students in 2019 and will expand by one grade level per year.

Delta Air Lines Flight 191 was a regularly scheduled Delta Air Lines domestic service from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, to Los Angeles with an intermediate stop at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW). On August 2, 1985, the Lockheed L-1011 TriStar operating Flight 191 encountered a microburst while on approach to land at DFW. The aircraft impacted ground over one mile (1.6 km) short of the runway, struck a car near the airport, collided with two water tanks, and disintegrated. 137 people died and 25 others were injured in the crash. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) determined that the crash resulted from the flight crew's decision to fly through a thunderstorm, the lack of procedures or training to avoid or escape microbursts, and the lack of hazard information on wind shear. Forecasts of microbursts improved in the following years; as of 2023 this was the last microburst crash in the US.

Hidden Ridge Station is a DART Light Rail station located in the Las Colinas development of Irving, Texas, for service on the Orange Line. The station is located on Meadow Creek Drive, west of the Orange Line's grade crossing on Green Park Drive. Originally named Las Colinas Carpenter Ranch, it was originally planned to open in December 2012 to serve the surrounding neighborhood of Las Colinas. In April 2010, the station's construction and opening was deferred until further development justified a station.The construction of a $1 billion office, residential, and entertainment development spearheaded by Verizon Wireless, which has an office campus across the street, prompted DART to resume plans for the station's construction. On April 24, 2019, DART announced that its board had officially approved the renaming of Carpenter Ranch Station to Hidden Ridge Station to tie in with the adjacent project. Construction was set to begin in mid 2020, with revenue service planned to begin in early 2021. The station began service on April 12, 2021.

Jack E. Singley Academy (formerly The Academy of Irving ISD) is a career-oriented public high school in Irving, Texas, United States. The school is a part of the Irving Independent School District. The Academy grants admission to students through a non-merit based selection process, which requires applying to the school during the spring semester of their 8th grade year. Students who are not selected may reapply their 9th and 10th grade years. In 2009, 2010 and 2011 the school was rated "recognized" by the Texas Education Agency.

Las Colinas is a mixed-use planned community development in Irving, Texas, part of the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex, governed by The Las Colinas Association, a Texas non-profit corporation. Due to its central location between Dallas and Fort Worth and its proximity to Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport and Dallas Love Field airport, Las Colinas has been a focus of corporate and business relocation. It has many corporate office and retail spaces, luxury hotels, townhomes, single-family homes, private country clubs, gated enclaves, urban lofts, parks, landscaped water courses, and formerly its own people mover system.

The Las Colinas Resort, Dallas is a golf resort in Irving, Texas, United States. The resort contains a 431-room hotel, two restaurants, lounge bars, a spa, swimming pool, gym, tennis courts and two golf courses, featuring a Tournament Players Club course, TPC Las Colinas, that hosted the PGA Tour's annual AT&T Byron Nelson from 1983-2017.

Delta Air Lines Flight 1581 was a scheduled flight from Dallas Fort Worth International Airport to George Bush Intercontinental Airport. On January 7, 1992, the Boeing 737-200 operating this flight lost its right engine on takeoff. The pilots were able to land the plane safely back at the airport.
