Afton, Wisconsin

The Town of Rock is a located in Rock County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 2,981 at the 2020 census. The unincorporated community of Afton is in the town.

Riverside Energy Center is an electrical power station located north of Beloit, Wisconsin in the Town of Beloit, just west of the Rock River. It consists of two 2-on-1 units (2 Combustion turbines per 1 HRSG). The facility is owned and operated by Alliant Energy.

The University of Wisconsin–Whitewater at Rock County is a branch campus of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater located in Janesville, Wisconsin. Known informally as "U Rock," and home to the College of Integrated Studies, the campus enrolls approximately 1,000 students pursuing an Associate of Arts and Sciences. Rock County campus students are welcome to live in residence halls on the Whitewater campus, and a free shuttle runs between the two campuses.

Rock River Generating Station was an electrical power station located north of Beloit, Wisconsin in the town of Beloit at 827 (West Beloit Rock) W. B. R. Townline Road on the west bank of the Rock River. The facility was owned and operated by Wisconsin Power and Light, a wholly owned subsidiary of Alliant Energy.

MacFarlane Pheasants Inc., America's largest pheasant farm, hatches more than 1.5 million chicks and sells more than 400,000 mature game birds to game preserves across North America. In both 2007 and 2010 MacFarlane Pheasants was named to the Inc. Magazine top 5000 companies list. The farm lis located in the Town of Rock, just outside the southern city limits of Janesville, Wisconsin, USA. Rock County's Prairie Knoll Park lies just across Center Avenue (U.S. Route 51), to the west.

Blackhawk Technical College (commonly Blackhawk Tech) is a technical school in Rock County, Wisconsin and a component of the Wisconsin Technical College System. The main campus lies between the cities of Beloit and Janesville; there are also several other locations. Blackhawk Technical College is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (NCA). The two primary counties in Wisconsin served by Blackhawk Technical College are Rock and Green Counties.

The Town of Beloit is located in Rock County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 7,721 at the 2020 census. The City of Beloit is located adjacent to the Town of Beloit. The unincorporated communities of Belcrest, Crestview, and Victory Heights are located in the town. The town hosts Festival on the Rock, an annual celebration held in September at Preservation Park.

The Wisconsin School for the Blind and Visually Impaired (WSBVI) is a state school that specializes in teaching the visually impaired. It is operated by the Wisconsin Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired (WCBVI), a unit of the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction. Founded in 1849, the school is located in Janesville, Wisconsin.Originally known as the Wisconsin Institute for the Education of the Blind, the school changed its name in 1885 to the Wisconsin School for the Blind. In 1945 it became the Wisconsin School for the Visually Handicapped, and in 2012 it was renamed the Wisconsin School for the Blind and Visually Impaired.Wisconsin youth who are blind or visually impaired are eligible to attend the regular school year program of the Wisconsin School for the Blind and Visually Impaired, which operates as part of the free public school system of the state. WSBVI is a residential school whose curriculum is both academic and applied. The school maintains a core academic curriculum, along with teaching functional life skills, including specialized skills related to blindness, vocational skills, physical education and recreation, and personal management. WSBVI cooperates with the Janesville Public School System and Blackhawk Technical College. Most of the students in the WSBVI program have a disability in addition to visual impairment.The school has a residential life, as in a dormitory program.

F. J. Turner High School is a high school located in the Town of Beloit in Rock County, Wisconsin, and is part of the Beloit Turner School District. The school was named after frontiersman Frederick Jackson Turner. It has 470 students in grades 9 through 12. The school's athletic teams compete in the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association. The mascot is the Turner Trojan. Their rivals include the Clinton Cougars and the Jefferson Eagles.

Janesville Assembly Plant is a former automobile factory owned by General Motors located in Janesville, Wisconsin. Opened in 1919, it was the oldest operating GM plant when it was largely idled in December 2008, and ceased all remaining production on April 23, 2009. The demolition of the plant began in April 2018. The plant covers 4,800,000 sq ft (450,000 m2). It employed around 7,000 workers at its peak in 1970, but was down to about 1,200 when it ceased production of GM vehicles in December 2008.

George S. Parker High School is a comprehensive public high school located on the west side of the city of Janesville, Wisconsin. The school, named for George S. Parker, founder of the Parker Pen Company, is a part of the School District of Janesville and was constructed in 1967. The rival east side school is Joseph A. Craig High School. In Nov 2006, a referendum passed that provided nearly $71 million for updates and renovation to both Parker and Craig High Schools. Construction began in October 2007 and lasted two years.
