The William T. Hendricks House, at 218 Center Ave in Pacheco, California, is a one-story house upon a raised basement, built in 1857. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.In 1857 William Hendrick purchased a tract of land from a Mr. Loucks and on it erected a dwelling house and a flour mill. This mill was the only flour mill ever operated in Contra Costa County.The house as built in 1857 in Queen Anne style was a rectangle 20 by 40 feet (6.1 m × 12.2 m) in plan with a porch all around; a detached kitchen was behind. The house was expanded in the 1890s to the west with an addition having a slanted bay window on its front, bringing the plan to 42 by 40 feet (13 m × 12 m).The raised basement has gained a door and three windows which were not part of the early house.

According to Card Player magazine, the California Grand Casino is the oldest continuously operating poker room in the world, with poker games since 1854.A new casino facility opened across the street in July 2009 with 19 gaming tables, a bar and a restaurant called The Grand Cafe. Eight times the California Grand Casino has been voted Best Casino in the San Francisco East Bay, including Best Local Casino for 2023, by readers of the Bay Area News Group which includes the East Bay Times, San Jose Mercury News and Oakland Tribune.

Rancho Las Juntas was a 13,293-acre (53.79 km2) Mexican land grant in present day Contra Costa County, California given in 1844 by Governor Manuel Micheltorena to William Welch. The name Las Juntas translates as "the Crossroads". The grant was located between Ygnacio Martinez’ Rancho El Pinole and Salvio Pacheco’s Rancho Monte del Diablo, and included northwestern Walnut Creek, all of Pleasant Hill, and the eastern portion of Martinez. The original borders of the claim were defined as the straits to the north, "Las Juntas" (a junction of streams) to the south, the Walnut creek to the east, the Reliz ridge to the west, and, to the northwest, the Alhambra creek.

Located off Interstate 680, Sunvalley is owned and operated by the Taubman Company and is anchored by two Macy's locations, JCPenney, and Sears. Grayson Creek is a stream in Contra Costa County in northern California that flows northeasterly 7.4 miles (11.9 km) from its origin in Briones Regional Park to Pacheco Slough four miles east of Martinez. Pacheco Slough, in turn, connects to Suisun Bay. The Grayson Creek subwatershed is part of the Walnut Creek watershed and includes the cities of Pleasant Hill and Pacheco, California. Murderer's (aka Murderous) Creek is a seasonal drainage creek also located in Pleasant Hill. Murderous Creek was named when the surveyors found a victim hanging from a tree near the stream in 1849. Today, large portions of the Creek have disappeared, but it can be found meandering through several residential subdivisions below the hillside near Pleasant Hill Road and Withers Avenue. The portion of Murderer's Creek that remains is being heavily surcharged and overburdened by the discharge of runoff water into the Creek from County roads and from upslope private developments, and the riparian property owners are experiencing extensive erosion and subsidence issues.

Vine Hill is a census-designated place (CDP) in Contra Costa County, California, United States. The population was 3,761 at the 2010 census. It is located 2.25 miles (3.6 km) east of downtown Martinez.

Matteo's Dream is an all-abilities playground in an urban park in Concord, California. It opened on May 16, 2007. Matteo Henderson was a boy with serious disabilities including blindness, cerebral palsy, and cognitive development. He used a wheelchair for transportation. The playground was built with US$770,000 of donated materials and with the labor of 1600 volunteers. Matteo, and many other children of all abilities have enjoyed the playground. Persons with disabilities are able to drive their wheelchairs directly onto the structure. Features of the playground are specially engineered to accommodate people with various disabilities. Matteo died on March 16, 2011, at the age of 11. In January 2014, a Matteo's Dream themed Rose Parade float was featured in the 125th Rose Parade in Pasadena, California.

Contra Costa is the 150th American Viticultural Area (AVA) in California located in the San Francisco Bay Area. It lies east of San Pablo Bay in Contra Costa County on the southern banks of the Carquinez Strait encompassing the area around the cities of Concord, Martinez, Pittsburg, Antioch and Brentwood. It was established on March 15, 2024 by the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB), Treasury after reviewing the petition submitted by Patrick Shabram on behalf of the Contra Costa Winegrowers Association proposing to establish an viticultural area named "Contra Costa." Upon careful review of the petition and the submitted comments, TTB found the evidence provided by the petitioner supported the establishment of the 167,146 acres (261 sq mi) Contra Costa AVA and the expansion of the San Francisco Bay and Central Coast viticultural areas boundaries by approximately 109,955 acres (172 sq mi) avoiding a boundary overlap and entirely encompass Contra Costa AVA. As of 2024, the AVA contains at least 14 wineries and 60 commercial vineyards cultivating about 1,700 acres (688 ha) under vine. The most commonly grown grape varietal is Zinfandel, but other varieties grown in Contra Costa include Petite Sirah, Mourvedre, Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon.
