Nazaré, Portugal

Pederneira is a former village in Portugal, and currently part of the larger city of Nazaré, Portugal on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean.

The Nazaré Funicular (Portuguese: Ascensor da Nazaré) is a funicular situated in the civil parish of Nazaré, Portugal, municipality of Nazaré, in the Portuguese district of Leiria.

The Nazaré bullring (Portuguese: Praça de Touros da Nazaré) is situated on the west coast of Portugal in the village of Sitio in Nazaré, Leiria District. The present bullring was built in 1897 in neo-Arab style and continues to be used for bullfights and other entertainment. An earlier bullring was destroyed by fire.

Memory Hermitage, also known as the Chapel of Our Lady of Nazaré (Portuguese: Ermida da Memória / Capela de Nossa Senhora da Nazaré), is located on the edge of promontory in Nazaré, Portugal. It is a four-sided chapel decorated with blue and white tiles and has a pyramidal roof.

The Sanctuary of Our Lady of Nazaré is an imposing Marian shrine that memorializes an ancient miracle that occurred under the intercession of the Virgin Mary. It is located on the hilltop called O Sítio, overlooking Nazaré, in Portugal, and was founded in the 14th century.

German submarine U-965 was a Type VIIC U-boat of Nazi Germany's Kriegsmarine during World War II. She was ordered on 5 June 1941, and was laid down on 4 May 1942 at Blohm & Voss, Hamburg, as yard number 165. She was launched on 14 January 1943 and commissioned under the command of Oberleutnant zur See Klaus Ohling on 25 February 1943.

German submarine U-963 was a Type VIIC U-boat of Nazi Germany's Kriegsmarine during World War II. She was ordered on 5 June 1941, and was laid down on 20 April 1942 at Blohm & Voss, Hamburg, as yard number 163. She was launched on 30 December 1942 and commissioned under the command of Leutnant zur See Karl Boddenberg on 17 February 1943.

The Fort of São Miguel Arcanjo (St. Michael the Archangel) is situated in Nazaré, Leiria District, Portugal. It was first constructed in 1577 but has undergone remodeling and expansion on several occasions since then. The fort is a popular tourist site, particularly because of its proximity to a surfing area famous for the height of its waves. It now functions as both a lighthouse and a museum, which is devoted in part to surfing.

Praia do Norte (‘North Beach’) is a beach located in Nazaré, portuguese West region, which due to its giant white breaking waves is famed for its surfing conditions. Nazaré's waves were listed on the Guinness Book of Records for the biggest waves ever surfed.

The Alcoa (Portuguese pronunciation: [alˈkoɐ]) is a river of Portugal, flowing into the Atlantic Ocean. It rises in the municipality of Alcobaça and flows into the ocean near Nazaré. The river section below the confluence with its tributary Baça is also referred to as Alcobaça.

Igreja de São Gião is a medieval church in Famalicão, a parish of Nazaré, in the district of Leiria, Portugal. It was discovered by Eduíno Borges Garcia in 1961 and is regarded as one of the oldest temples in Portugal and the Iberian Peninsula. It is classified as a National Monument. It was initially presumed to be built by the Visigoths (7th century), but more recent works have given it Asturian origins (10th century) due to its similarity to some Asturian temples.
