Beardsley is a populated place situated within the Sun City West CDP in Maricopa County, Arizona, United States. It has an estimated elevation of 1,263 feet (385 m) above sea level, and was named for William H. Beardsley, an irrigation pioneer who began an irrigation project at this location in 1888.

It has an estimated elevation of 1,191 feet (363 m) above sea level.Lizard Acres (noted as Lizard on topographic maps) was a train stop just north of Surprise, Arizona. The stop is near current day Grand Avenue and Bell Road in Surprise, Arizona. The site also held a cattle farm.

The school population is largely from the cities of El Mirage, Surprise, Peoria, Youngtown and Glendale. ACA provides instructions for students in grades kindergarten through 8th grade. ACA has been designated by the Arizona Learns Achievement Profile as "Performing Plus". It was a candidate for accreditation by the now dissolved North Central Association. The school mascot is a bulldog. Starting in the 2017–2018 school year, this school has dropped the high school portion of the school, making it a K-8 school.

The Surprise Recreation Campus is an athletic facility based in Surprise, Arizona built in 2002. It features such amenities as Surprise Stadium (spring training home of Major League Baseball's Kansas City Royals and Texas Rangers), 12 baseball fields (6 lighted), and Mark Coronado Park, an 8-acre (32,000 m2) multipurpose field (lighted).The facility at one time played host to an independent professional baseball team, the Golden Baseball League's Surprise Fightin' Falcons and previously host a minor league baseball team, the Surprise Rafters of the Arizona Fall League. The recreation campus hosts an annual Christmas event, Sparkling Surprise, that includes food trucks, hot air balloons, sky divers, vendors and live music.In 2023, the campus hosted the Bases and Brews Music Festival to mark the end of the year’s Cactus League spring training.

Surprise Stadium is a baseball venue located at the Surprise Recreation Campus athletic facility in Surprise, Arizona, United States. The stadium opened in 2002 and seats 10,714 people. It is the spring training facility for the Kansas City Royals and the Texas Rangers. It is also the home of the Arizona Fall League's Surprise Saguaros. The venue was previously the home of the Golden Baseball League's Surprise Fightin' Falcons, which disbanded after their only season in 2005. Surprise Stadium is owned and managed by the City of Surprise Sports and Tourism Department.

Arizona's 8th congressional district is a congressional district located in the U.S. state of Arizona. It includes many of the suburbs north and west of Phoenix, in Maricopa County, Arizona. The district includes several high-income retirement communities, including Sun City West. After redistricting for the 2012 general election, the new 8th district encompasses most of the Maricopa County portion of the old 2nd district, while most of the former 8th district became the 2nd congressional district. It is the geographic and demographic successor of the old 2nd; while the 4th district contains most of the old 2nd's land, more than 92 percent of the old 2nd's constituents were drawn into the 8th.This seat was vacated by Representative Trent Franks on December 8, 2017. A special election was held on April 24, 2018, and won by Republican Debbie Lesko.

Imagine Prep at Surprise is a public charter school in Surprise, Arizona, and is a member of the Cambridge international program offering the Cambridge Advanced International Certificate of Education (AICE) and Grand Canyon Diploma along with college level courses. The school opened on September 2, 2008. It is operated by Imagine Schools. The school is a member of the Canyon Athletic Association.

Waddell is an unincorporated community in Maricopa County, Arizona, United States, northwest of the city of Phoenix. Waddell is named after Donald Ware Waddell, a native of Ohio, who was a partner in the New York City investment firm of Brandon, Gordon and Waddell. It was this firm that organized the private financing for construction of the dam for the water reclamation project that creates Lake Pleasant. The intended Waddell town site was laid out by Donald W. Waddell in 1935, on property he owned on the northeast corner of Waddell Road and Cotton Lane (Section 12, T3N, R2W, G&SRB&M). Waddell moved to the area to oversee the firm's interests in the project. He served on the board of the Maricopa Water District and invested in land through his interests in the Arizona Citrus Land Company and the Waddell Ranch Company. In 1937, the Waddell Post Office was established inside the store on the original town site. Later, the post office moved across the street and shared space with the cotton gin office. The current Waddell Post Office was built in 1992 and is located on Glendale Avenue and Cotton Lane, four miles south of the original site. The town never did develop, but remained a post office and place name for the area.The dam on the Agua Fria River that creates Lake Pleasant (once called Frog Tanks Dam then, Pleasant Dam) was renamed for Donald W. Waddell in 1963, shortly after his death, in recognition of his contributions to the Maricopa Water District. Barry M. Goldwater spoke at the dedication ceremony.With the expansion of the city of Surprise, use of the name Waddell to describe the location is rapidly falling into disuse. Influence of the name can still be seen in the name of Waddell Road, an arterial street running through Surprise, as well as the New Waddell Dam at Lake Pleasant. In November 2010 the White Tank Regional Library opened.The community contains the Wat Promkunaram Buddhist Temple. This facility was the site of a mass shooting in 1991 which left nine people dead, among them monks and temple helpers. It remains the deadliest homicide incident in Arizona history since statehood. Sixteen-year-old Alessandro Garcia and 17-year-old Jonathan Doody were charged with the crime, convicted, and sentenced. Doody was tried three times and sentenced to 281 years of prison in 2014.
