Coyote, California

Coyote station was a railroad depot in Coyote, California, United States. Established in 1869, the station was part of the Southern Pacific Railroad's first line connecting San José and Gilroy. Located in the heart of the Coyote Valley, the depot took its name from the Coyote Creek and explorer Juan Bautista de Anza who referred to the area as "Arroyo del Coyote." The train station was in use until the cancellation of the train route in 1959. Recently, in May 2024, Coyote station was relocated to History Park at Kelley Park in San José. The building will be restored and made into a transportation museum.

Coyote Grange is Chapter 412 of the California State National Grange of the Order of Patrons of Husbandry. Its headquarters are an historic hall and gardens in Coyote, California, near San Jose. The hall itself was built in 1902 on land deeded by Fiachro Fisher from his Coyote Valley estate. From its inception, the building was used as a community meeting place. The Coyote Grange Chapter was founded in 1925 and for many years rented the hall for its meetings. On May 5, 1949 the organization bought the building and surrounding gardens and still uses them today for its activities which include monthly dances, expeditions, potluck dinners, and a group for 13- to 17-year-olds, many of whom are home schoolers. The Coyote Grange Hall is also used for meetings of the local 4-H club and other community organizations, and can be rented for private functions.

On April 16, 2013, an attack was carried out on Pacific Gas and Electric Company's Metcalf transmission substation in Coyote, California, near the border of San Jose. The attack, in which gunmen fired on 17 electrical transformers, resulted in more than $15 million worth of equipment damage, but it had little impact on the station's electrical power supply.

The Metcalf Energy Center is a 605 megawatt combined cycle power plant located in Silicon Valley, located in unincorporated Coyote Valley, south of San Jose, California and north of Morgan Hill, California. The power plant is owned by Calpine and powered by natural gas. Some of the power generated by the plant is sent to far away places via Path 15, a major electrical power transmission corridor that is connected to the power plant.

Fisher Creek is a 13.8 miles (22.2 km) stream that flows northwesterly through the Coyote Valley in southern Santa Clara County, California, United States. It is tributary to the largest freshwater wetland in Santa Clara County, Laguna Seca, a seasonal lake important to groundwater recharge. From Laguna Seca, Fisher Creek was connected to Coyote Creek by an artificial channel.

Tulare Hill is a prominent hill in the Santa Teresa Hills of western Santa Clara County, California. It lies along the southernmost edge of San Jose, California, adjacent to the Metcalf Energy Center. The hill and surrounding 330 acres (130 ha) of serpentine grasslands are home to the endangered Bay checkerspot butterfly and Dudleya setchellii wildflower. A portion of the hill makes up the Tulare Hill Ecological Preserve.

Laguna Seca is a seasonal lake located in south Santa Clara Valley in the Coyote Valley, an area critical to wildlife as the narrowest corridor connecting Mt. Hamilton and the Diablo Range on the east to the foothills of the Santa Cruz Mountains to the west. It is the largest freshwater wetland in Santa Clara County, California and lies between Tulare Hill and the Santa Teresa Hills just west of Santa Teresa Boulevard and north of Bailey Avenue. Laguna Seca is fed by Fisher Creek. A man-made channel extends Fisher Creek to Coyote Creek.

Coyote Ridge Open Space Preserve" is an 1,831-acre (7.41 km2) publicly owned park in southern Santa Clara County. It is currently undergoing restoration and infrastructure work and is scheduled to open to the public in 2018.

Rancho Laguna Seca (also called "Refugio de la Laguna Seca") was a 19,973-acre (80.83 km2) Mexican land grant in present day Santa Clara County, California given in 1834 by Governor José Figueroa to Juan Alvires. "Laguna Seca" means "Dry Lake" in Spanish, and refers to the seasonal lake, Laguna Seca. The grant extended southward along Coyote Creek from Rancho Santa Teresa and Coyote to Rancho Ojo del Agua de la Coche and Morgan Hill.

KBAY (94.5 MHz, "Bay Country 94.5") is a commercial FM radio station licensed to Gilroy, California, serving San Jose and the San Francisco Bay Area, broadcasting a Country Music radio format. KBAY is owned by Alpha Media, along with sister station 106.5 KEZR. The radio studios and offices are located off U.S. Route 101 and Hellyer Ave in South San Jose. KBAY has an effective radiated power (ERP) of 44,000 watts. The transmitter is on a hill in Santa Teresa County Park, near Coyote Peak, south of San Jose.The station switched to the country format on April 5, 2022 after five years as a classic hits station and various other formats before that since going on the air in 1970.

KEZR (106.5 FM, "Mix 106.5") is a radio station licensed to San Jose, California, and serving the southern San Francisco Bay Area. KEZR airs an Hot adult contemporary format and is owned by Connoisseur Media through the licensee Alpha Media Licensee LLC. Co-owned with KBAY, its studios are located in South San Jose just off US 101 on Hellyer Ave, and the transmitter is based from a site in Santa Teresa County Park.
