Wingfield, Rotherham

Wingfield Academy is a coeducational secondary school with academy status, located in the Wingfield area of Rotherham, South Yorkshire, England. It has been renamed three times since it opened. It was originally named Wingfield Comprehensive School until September 2006 when it became simply Wingfield School. In September 2008, it became a specialist school and was rebranded as Wingfield Business & Enterprise College. The third rename occurred in August 2013 when the college completed its transition to an academy becoming Wingfield Academy. On 1 December 2020 Wingfield Academy become part of the New Collaborative Learning Trust.

Greasbrough is a small suburb in Rotherham, in South Yorkshire, England. The suburb falls in the Greasbrough Ward of Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council. Greasbrough had its own local council, Greasbrough UDC (Urban District Council), until its absorption into the County Borough of Rotherham in 1936. Until 1974 it was in the West Riding of Yorkshire. Greasbrough has 2,038 inhabitants and 2,270 acres (9.2 km2) of land belonging to Earl FitzWilliam. It is located two miles (3 km) north of Rotherham. Greasbrough has a gothic-style church called St. Mary's, which was completed in 1828. A schoolroom is built into the rear lower part of the building. There are also Wesleyan and Independent chapels, also with attached schools. There is a main school in Greasbrough named Greasbrough Junior & Infant School, situated on Munsbrough Rise. This also has a nursery in the same building, starting from the age of 3. Greasbrough also has a football team called Greasbrough Youth, with players from ages 6. It is also well known for its Working Men's Club which has been host to many famous acts over the years such as Johnnie Ray, Bob Monkhouse, Matt Monro and Adam Faith.

Bradgate Brickworks (grid reference SK413935) is a 0.9 hectare (2.2 acre) geological site of Special Scientific Interest in South Yorkshire. The site was notified in 1988. In November 2001 a report by Rotherham Borough Council noted concern that overgrown vegetation at the site presented a risk to the geological features of the quarry face and proposed the acquisition and management of the site by the Council.

Greasbrough War Memorial is a 20th-century grade II listed war memorial in Greasbrough , South Yorkshire, England.

Old Hall Comprehensive School was a comprehensive school located in Kimberworth, Rotherham, South Yorkshire, England. It merged with Kimberworth Comprehensive School to form Winterhill School in September 2004.

Winterhill School is a mixed secondary school located in Kimberworth, Rotherham, South Yorkshire, England. The school was formed in 2004 by the merger of Old Hall Comprehensive School and the nearby Kimberworth Comprehensive School. It lies on the former site of Old Hall School, at the corner of High Street and Little Common Lane in Kimberworth. The name of the new school was chosen by pupils and is derived from the “Winter Hills”, a range of hills that lie directly behind the school. These "Winter Hills" were the spoil heaps from the coal-mining operations in the area and were effectively removed by landscaping in 1976. The school retains Old Hall's motto, 'Other People Matter'. In September 2017, the City Learning Centre @ Winterhill has been combined with the school and now contains the visitor entrance. It has been renamed "The Network." The school employs around 150 staff and has an enrolment of 1,200 pupils (despite having the capacity for almost 1,600) and accommodates children from Years 7–11. There is no sixth form, but many leaving pupils go on to complete further education in other institutions, such as Thomas Rotherham College and Rotherham College of Arts and Technology. Winterhill School has also become an Accredited Test Centre for the European Computer Driving Licence. Previously a community school and then a foundation school, both administered by Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council, Winterhill School converted to academy status on 1 February 2016. However, the school continues to coordinate with Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council for admissions.

Ferham Park was a cricket ground in Rotherham, Yorkshire, England. The first recorded match on the ground was in 1880, when the North played a United South of England Eleven, in what was the ground's only first-class match. The final recorded match on the ground saw Rotherham play Yorkshire in 1914. The ground was later built on.

Scholes Coppice (also called Scholes Wood) in an area of ancient woodland located to the north-west of Kimberworth in the Metropolitan Borough of Rotherham in South Yorkshire, England. It was once part of the Kimberworth Deer Park, and contains a number of archaeological sites, the most significant of which is thought to be an Iron Age hill fort. Known as Caesar's Camp or Castle Holmes, this Scheduled Ancient Monument was partially excavated in the 1990s. It consists of an outer bank 2–5 metres high and 15 metres wide that may have been topped by a wooden palisade, which is paralleled by a 15-metre-wide ditch. There is no obvious entrance to the site. Scholes Coppice and the neighbouring Keppel's Field (which was once a part of the woodland) were designated a Local Nature Reserve by Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council in 1996.

Scholes is a small village in the Rotherham borough of South Yorkshire, England, near the southern boundary of Wentworth Woodhouse, formerly the family seat of the Earls Fitzwilliam. The village is the location of Keppel's Column. Scholes Coppice contains several archaeological features, including Caesar's Camp, an Iron Age fort, regarded as one of the best examples of its kind in South Yorkshire.

Holmes railway station was a railway station in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, England. The station served the communities of Masbrough and Holmes and was situated on the former Sheffield and Rotherham Railway (S&R) line between Rotherham Westgate Station and Wincobank and Meadowhall Station. The station, which had two flanking platforms, opened with the line. With the building of the North Midland Railway through Rotherham Masborough, Holmes became the junction of the curve from this station to the Sheffield line. A second curve, allowing trains to travel from the Sheffield line to the North Midland facing south was opened in 1869.The station was closed in 1955. Nowadays a footbridge spans the two tracks almost above Holmes Junction which, via a British Rail - built chord line, known as "The Holmes Chord", now links the former S&R line to the former Great Central Railway line through Rotherham Central. The access line to Booth's scrapyard leaves the Holmes Chord shortly after the junction. This line was an original part of the S&R to Rotherham Westgate. Nearby was the factory of Isaac Dodds and Son who supplied the early locomotives for the S&R.

The Rockingham Mausoleum, Wentworth, near Rotherham, South Yorkshire, England is a cenotaph commemorating Charles Watson-Wentworth, 2nd Marquess of Rockingham, who was Prime Minister at the time of his death in 1782. The name by which the memorial is now known is in fact a misnomer, since Charles Watson-Wentworth is buried in York Minster. Eighteenth and nineteenth century sources refer to the edifice simply as "the Monument".

Abbey School is a mixed special school for children with moderate and complex learning difficulties. It is located in Kimberworth, South Yorkshire, England.Abbey School was opened in September 1994, and was originally administered by Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council. The school was converted to academy status in June 2016 and is now part of the Nexus Multi-Academy Trust. However the school continues to coordinate with Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council for admissions.
