Wenlock Basin

Waterside Contemporary was a visual art gallery in Hackney, central-east London. The gallery's programme focused on politically- and socially-engaged artists, including Oreet Ashery, George Barber, Mirza and Butler, Nikita Kadan, and Chiara Fumai. The gallery exhibition programme involved over a hundred artists like Libia Castro & Ólafur Ólafsson, Mathilde ter Heijne, Slavs and Tatars in nearly thirty exhibitions, performances, public events, publishing, and institutional collaborations.Waterside Contemporary was founded in 2008 by Pierre d'Alancaisez as the Waterside Project Space, named after the Waterside building on Wharf Road in which it was located. Initially an artist-run not-for-profit, the gallery became commercially active in 2010 with a presentation at ViennaFair. Olga Ovenden became co-director with the gallery's move to nearby Hoxton. The gallery stopped exhibiting operations under the Waterside name in 2017. Waterside Contemporary commissioned, curated and premiered landmark works such as Animal with a Language by Oreet Ashery, The Unreliable Narrator by Karen Mirza and Brad Butler, and The Freestone Drone by George Barber.

The Wenlock Arms is a public house in Hoxton, in London's East End, which began trading in 1787. The pub is located halfway between Old Street and Angel, just off the City Road and the City Road Basin and Wenlock Basin on the Regent's Canal. The pub has won awards for the quality and range of its cask ales.

The City Road Basin is an English canal basin and part of the Regent's Canal in Central London, owned by the Canal & River Trust. It opened in 1820, and made a large contribution to the prosperity of the Regent's Canal. By the 1950s, its surroundings were largely derelict, but a programme of regeneration began in 2004, involving several large-scale residential developments, and public access to the basin was provided for the first time in 2009. The basin is used for canoeing by the Islington Boat Club.

The Victoria Miro Gallery is a British contemporary art gallery in London, run by Victoria Miro. Miro opened her first gallery in 1985 in Cork Street, before moving to larger premises in Islington in 2000 and later opening a second space in St George Street, Mayfair.

The Parasol Unit Foundation for Contemporary Art is an educational charity and a not-for-profit contemporary art gallery based in London. Established in 2004, the foundation is housed in a converted warehouse over two floors in a building that was renovated to a design concept by the Italian architect, Claudio Silvestrin. The gallery comprises roughly 5,000 sq ft (460 m2) of exhibition space. Parasol Unit was established by its director and curator, Ziba Ardalan. A graduate in the History of Art from Columbia University New York, Ardalan worked as Guest Curator at the Whitney Museum of American Art. She guest curated the exhibition 'Winslow Homer and the New England Coast' at the Whitney's Stamford, Ct. Branch (1984). Ardalan became the first Director/Curator of New York City's Swiss Institute in 1987, before moving to Zurich, Switzerland, and then relocating to UK and founding Parasol Unit. She has curated numerous exhibitions and has also lectured and written about art. Prior to her career in art, Ardalan obtained a Ph.D. in physical chemistry.

The Packington Estate is a large council estate in Islington, London. The Estate was built in the 1960s by Islington Council. In 2006, it was transferred to the Hyde Group, a housing association. The lead contractor for the redevelopment was Rydon, with a £130 million contract over eight years, replacing 538 structurally defective flats with 791 mixed-tenure houses and flats.In November 2016, a new park on the Regent's Canal was opened called Canalside Square.

The Chronicle Tower (aka Lexicon Tower) is a 36-storey 115m tall residential building in City Road, London, on the west side of the City Road Basin, part of the Regent's Canal. The closest underground station is Angel. The building includes 146 apartments and is close to the "Square Mile" (London financial city) and "Silicon Roundabout". The architects were Skidmore Owings & Merrill (SOM) who also designed other notable buildings in the world including Willis Tower in Chicago and Burj Khalifa in Dubai. The building has an on-site gym, spa and swimming pool.

The Island Queen is a Grade II listed public house at 87 Noel Road, Islington, London.It was built in 1851.

Tech City College (Formerly STEM Academy) is a free school sixth form located in the Islington area of the London Borough of Islington, England.It originally opened in September 2013 as STEM Academy Tech City and specialised in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) and the Creative Application of Maths and Science. In September 2015 STEM Academy joined the Aspirations Academy Trust was renamed Tech City College. Tech City College offers A-levels and BTECs as programmes of study for students.

City Road is a disused London Underground station in Islington, central London. It was opened in 1901 as part of the City & South London Railway's extension from Moorgate Street to Angel. City Road was situated between Old Street and Angel. The railway is now part of the Northern line. The station was closed in 1922 due to low passenger usage. The underground tunnels remain at track level, but the station remained derelict until the 1960s, when it was demolished except for the structure around the original lift shaft. This remained at City Road's junction with Central Street and Moreland Street until the late 2010s, when it was replaced by the Bunhill 2 Energy Centre.

City Road Lock is a lock on the Regent's Canal, in the London Borough of Islington, England. It is located a short distance to the east of Islington Tunnel, and immediately to the west of City Road Basin.

250 City Road is a residential-led scheme under construction in the borough of Islington, London, designed by Foster + Partners and developed by Berkeley. It was given planning permission in 2014 by the then London Mayor Boris Johnson after being rejected by Islington Council. Phase one started in 2015. Upon completion, the development will have two towers of 43 and 36 storeys, 930 apartments and a 190-room hotel.
