Hawkhurst

Beal's Green is a hamlet north of Hawkhurst in Kent, South East England.

Collingwood is a 3-hectare (7.4-acre) nature reserve south of Hawkhurst in Kent. It is managed by the Kent Wildlife Trust.This reserve is woodland which has many exotic species as well as native trees. It is centred on a lake which has birds such as mallards, kingfishers and moorhens.There is access from Stream Lane.

Hawkhurst Moor is a village green and sports field at Hawkhurst in Kent. It was the centre of the original village and lies to the south of the modern town, with the A229 road running across the area. A cricket ground on the Moor was the venue for two first-class cricket matches in the 1820s. The Moor was originally an area of common land. The right to hold an annual fair was held on the green was established by a deed granted by Edward II in 1311, and a fair was held annually until the 19th century. A market was also held on the green until the 17th century and the area is used today for community events. The area is designated a conservation area, one of four in Hawkhurst. The village church, the Eight Bells public house, parish council office, a former brewery, the original Victorian village school, closed in 2003, and a former post office and stores building surround the village green area. To the east, the King George V playing field was established in 1937 and is the modern sports ground.

Marlborough House School is a co-educational preparatory school situated in 34 acres (14 ha) of countryside in Hawkhurst, Kent. The school currently has just over 260 pupils between the ages of 2.5 and 13 with a teaching staff of 60. Marlborough House is predominantly a day school, but operates a flexi-boarding policy for pupils over the age of eight. The school is a member of the Independent Association of Preparatory Schools (IAPS). Classes up to Year 4 have teaching assistants. The pupil teacher ratio in the school's Pre-Prep (Reception - Year 2) is 1:6 and in Years 3-4 it is 1:9. The school's sporting and cocurricular facilities include a full size sports hall, a swimming pool, an astroturf, tennis courts, an outdoor classroom, Forest School areas, a shooting range, an observatory and a pitch and putt golf course. The current Head is Eddy Newton. Prior to becoming Headmaster of Marlborough House School, Mr Newton was Chief Executive of The Cothill Trust and held the position of Chairman of the Independent Association of Prep Schools. Before this, Mr Newton was Headmaster of Chafyn Grove School and Headmaster Felsted School. The school is inspected by the Independent Schools Inspectorate and their last inspection was in 2015.

Robins Wood is a 47.7-hectare (118-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest between Tunbridge Wells and Ashford in Kent.This is a deep valley along a stream in the Weald, and has the humid conditions typical of such areas. It has a diverse flora of mosses, ferns and liverworts, and woodland which is thought to date back to recolonisation after the last ice age ended 11,700 years ago.Footpaths go through some parts of the site.

Swattenden is a small settlement in the parish of Cranbrook and Sissinghurst in England. It is situated on the B2086 (Swattenden Lane) about a mile from Hartley, where the A229 crosses the settlement. At Swattenden, one can find an agricultural/country shop, a fruit farm, fishing centre, and the Swattenden Centre.

Hartley is a village one mile southwest of Cranbrook in Kent, England. The only retailer in the area is a local farmshop, which has a cafe and fishmongers. Hartley lies on the A229. Hartley Badgers are the local football team. Traditionally, only Hartley natives are eligible for selection- in a policy similar to that of Athletic Bilbao. They share the hosting of the annual grudge match against their fierce rivals, Gills Green Gulls. It is a historically hotly contested fixture, with three hospitalisations from crowd trouble in the last ten years.

Cranbrook railway station is a disused English station which was on the closed Hawkhurst Branch in Kent, England.

Bodiam Manor School was founded more than 50 years ago and was an Independent Preparatory School for children aged 3 to 13 years old, very close to the East Sussex village of Bodiam. It was co-educational. Set in 10 acres (40,000 m2) of land, and housed in an old Manor House, (hence the name) the school closed, 11 August 2010 due to falling pupil numbers and an inability to meet financial commitments. It was succeeded by Claremont Senior School.

Crane Valley is a 0.8-hectare (2.0-acre) Local Nature Reserve in Cranbrook in Kent. It is owned and managed by Tunbridge Wells Borough Council.Much of this site is wet woodland with lush vegetation, including the locally rare large bitter-cress. There is semi-natural woodland in drier areas, with oak, hornbeam and field maple.There is access from the park north-east of the site.

Parsonage Wood is a 9.7-hectare (24-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest south-east of Cranbrook in Kent. It is owned and managed by the Kent Wildlife Trust.This is an example of a woodland ghyll in the High Weald. The trees are mainly coppiced, but some of the ground flora are species which are indicative of ancient woods, such as butcher's broom, violet helleborine and pendulous sedge.There is access from a footpath which runs north from Scullsgate House.
