Crane Valley

Cranbrook was a rural district in Kent, England. In 1974 the district was merged into the Borough of Tunbridge Wells.The district covered Cranbrook and the surrounding villages of Benenden, Frittenden, Goudhurst, Hawkhurst, Sandhurst and Sissinghurst.

Cranbrook is a town in the civil parish of Cranbrook and Sissinghurst, in the Weald of Kent in South East England. It lies roughly half-way between Maidstone and Hastings, about 38 miles (61 km) southeast of central London. The smaller settlements of Sissinghurst, Swattenden, Colliers Green and Hartley lie within the civil parish. The population of the parish was 6,717 in 2011.

St Dunstan's Church, also known as the Cathedral of the Weald, in Cranbrook, Kent, England, dates to the late 13th century. It is now Grade I listed.Its 74 feet-high tower, completed in 1425, has a wooden figure of Father Time and his scythe on the south face. It also contains the prototype for the Big Ben clock in London. Work started in the late 13th century, the chancel arch and porch are a century later, the nave and tower were added after 1500, and William Slater and Ewan Christian restored the building in 1863. It is administered by the Weald Deanery, part of the Archdeaconry of Maidstone, which is in turn one of three archdeaconries in the Diocese of Canterbury. Cranbrook native Comfort Starr, one of the founding members of Harvard College, was baptised at the church on 6 July 1589. A memorial plaque to Starr was installed in the church after his death in 1659.

The Cranbrook Strict Baptist Chapel, is a Strict Baptist place of worship in the town of Cranbrook in the English county of Kent. The chapel was built in 1787.

Cranbrook School (formerly Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School) is a co-educational state funded boarding and day grammar school in the market town of Cranbrook, Kent, England. Selection is made of pupils at age 11 and 13.

Union Mill is a Grade I listed smock mill in Cranbrook, Kent, England, which has been restored to working order. It is the tallest smock mill in the United Kingdom.

The High Weald Academy was a coeducational secondary school that opened in 1971 located in Cranbrook, Kent, England. The academy permanently closed in September 2022, with all the pupils from Year 7 to Year 10 offered places at Mascalls Academy.

School Field Ground is a sports ground owned by Cranbrook School located in the town of Cranbrook, Kent. It is known by the school as Big Side Playing Field. The field, which is 4.63 hectares (11.4 acres) in size, and located south of Quaker Lane, is used by the school for cricket, rugby union and hockey.

Swattenden is a small settlement in the parish of Cranbrook and Sissinghurst in England. It is situated on the B2086 (Swattenden Lane) about a mile from Hartley, where the A229 crosses the settlement. At Swattenden, one can find an agricultural/country shop, a fruit farm, fishing centre, and the Swattenden Centre.

Swifts Park is a former country estate and manor house 1 mile (1.6 km) north-east of the town of Cranbrook in the English county of Kent. Through its history, the estate has been variously known by the names Swifts, Great Swift, Great Swifts, and Swifts Place and since 1995 as Oak Hill Manor. At its greatest extent it covered an area of around 158 hectares (390 acres). An estate has existed at Swifts Park from at least the early 15th century, with the current house having been built in 1937. The grounds held two first-class cricket matches played by Kent County Cricket Club in the 1860s.

Robins Wood is a 47.7-hectare (118-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest between Tunbridge Wells and Ashford in Kent.This is a deep valley along a stream in the Weald, and has the humid conditions typical of such areas. It has a diverse flora of mosses, ferns and liverworts, and woodland which is thought to date back to recolonisation after the last ice age ended 11,700 years ago.Footpaths go through some parts of the site.

Hartley is a village one mile southwest of Cranbrook in Kent, England. The only retailer in the area is a local farmshop, which has a cafe and fishmongers. Hartley lies on the A229. Hartley Badgers are the local football team. Traditionally, only Hartley natives are eligible for selection- in a policy similar to that of Athletic Bilbao. They share the hosting of the annual grudge match against their fierce rivals, Gills Green Gulls. It is a historically hotly contested fixture, with three hospitalisations from crowd trouble in the last ten years.
