Ashaway River

Ashaway () is an unincorporated village and census-designated place (CDP) in the town of Hopkinton, Rhode Island, USA. It is a principal village of Hopkinton, along with Hope Valley, although it is the smaller of the two. The population was 1,485 at the 2010 census. The name Ashaway is derived from the American Indian name for the river that runs through the village, the Ashawague or Ashawaug, which means "land in the middle" or "land between" in the Niantic and Mohegan languages. The name "Ashawague River" appears as late as 1832 on the Findley map of Rhode Island published in Philadelphia.

The Tomaquag Rock Shelters (RI-HP-1) are a prehistoric rock shelter site off Maxson Hill Road (formerly Burdickville Road) in Hopkinton, Rhode Island. The shelters are located under two east-facing granite outcrops in the valley drained by Tomaquag Brook. Nathan Kaye discovered the shelters in the late 1950s. Materials recovered from test excavations resulted in dating one shelter to 800 BC and the other to AD 800. Materials recovered include projectile points, stone knives, and evidence of stone tool construction. Both sites included evidence pointing to the presence of a fire pit.The shelters were added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1977.In 1982, Nathan Kaye gave the shelters to the State of Rhode Island. In 1996, the State Properties Committee entered into a "Park Use Agreement" with the Town of Hopkinton to preserve the shelter site. The Hopkinton Planning Board entered a requirement that the cultural aspects of the shelter be protected in a Master Plan agreement with the developers of a proposed solar farm across the road from the site on January 4, 2019.

Hopkinton City Historic District is a historic district encompassing the town center of Hopkinton, Rhode Island. The district is centered on the junction of Rhode Island Route 3 with Woodville Road, Clark Falls Road, Townhouse Road, and Old Rockville Road. It is a relatively modest town center, with twenty residences, two church buildings (one of which is no longer used as a church), the town hall, and post office. The most imposing house in the district is the Thurston-Wells House, a c. 1800 structure which was given a Victorian treatment in the mid-19th century; it stands opposite the 1836 Greek Revival First Baptist Church. The area was a major stop on the stagecoach route (now Route 3), and was eclipsed in the 20th century by the construction of Interstate 95, which passes nearby.The district was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.

Hopkinton is a census-designated place (CDP) in Washington County, Rhode Island, United States, comprising the central village in the town of Hopkinton. It was first listed as a CDP prior to the 2020 census. The village is also known as Hopkinton City, and the center of the village comprises the Hopkinton City Historic District. Hopkinton village is on the western edge of Washington County, in the west-central part of the town of Hopkinton. Its western border is the Connecticut state line. Rhode Island Route 3 passes through the center of the village, leading northeast 4 miles (6 km) to Hope Valley, the largest village in the town of Hopkinton, and south 3 miles (5 km) to Ashaway, the second-largest village. Interstate 95 runs through the southeast part of the Hopkinton CDP, with access from Exit 1 with Route 3 between Hopkinton village and Ashaway. I-95 leads northeast 36 miles (58 km) to Providence, the state capital, and southwest 19 miles (31 km) to New London, Connecticut.

Bradford is a census-designated place (CDP) and historic district in the towns of Westerly and Hopkinton in Washington County, Rhode Island, United States. The population was 1,406 at the 2010 census. The Bradford Village Historic District was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1996 as a 224-acre (91 ha) area including 149 contributing buildings, one other contributing site, and one other contributing structure. The CDP as defined by the United States Census Bureau is located only in Westerly. Bradford was named for Bradford, West Yorkshire, England.

WMOS (102.3 FM, "102.3 The Wolf") is a classic rock radio station that targets the Connecticut and Rhode Island coastlines from New London, Connecticut, to Wakefield, Rhode Island (according to Radio-Locator) and it is licensed to Stonington, Connecticut. It broadcasts at 102.3 MHz with 3 kilowatts ERP from a tower located in Westerly, Rhode Island. The station is owned and operated by Cumulus Media and is "powered by Mohegan Sun," the casino in Uncasville. The Mohegan Sun casino also hosts the station's studios. On March 17, 2008, WMOS changed its frequency from 104.7 FM to 102.3 FM, swapping frequencies with sister station WXLM.

The North End Historic District is a predominantly residential historic district in northwestern Westerly, Rhode Island. The area traces the industrial development of Westerly, with proximity to both its central business district as well as water-based textile mills, and stone quarries further inland. Most of the district's architecture was built between 1832 and 1955. The district is bounded on the east by High Street; on the south by properties on Friendship, West, Pleasant Streets, Marriott Avenue and Industrial Drive; on the west by properties on Pleasant, Canal, Pierce and Pond Streets; and on the north by properties on Pond, Pierce, Pearl, and High Streets, and Turano Avenue.The district was added to the National Register of Historic Places on April 20, 2006.

The George Kent Performance Hall (known previously as the Immaculate Conception Church and the Westerly Center for the Arts) is a historic building in Westerly, Rhode Island.

The Westerly Armory is an historic National Guard armory building located on Railroad Avenue, west of downtown Westerly, Rhode Island.

Westerly station is a passenger rail station on the Northeast Corridor located just north of downtown Westerly, Rhode Island. It is served by Amtrak's Northeast Regional. Amtrak's Acela also passes by this station, but does not stop. Westerly is one of a small number of Amtrak stations (along with Mystic and Aberdeen) on the Northeast Corridor that does not have high-level platforms for accessible boarding. However, Westerly is still handicapped accessible; passengers may use a portable lift to board trains, and the under-track passage includes a wheelchair lift on its staircases. Westerly is also one of three Northeast Corridor stations (along with adjacent Mystic to the south and Kingston to the north) that is served exclusively by Amtrak, with no commuter rail service, though there have been proposals to extend CTrail's Shore Line East into Westerly.
