Ashkirk

Salenside is a village off the A7, on the Ale Water, near Ashkirk, in the Scottish Borders area of Scotland, in the former Selkirkshire. There was a Salenside Tower house, but nothing remains of it. Salenside Farm and Salenside Cottage exist. The placenames Selkirk and Salenside are related. Other places nearby include Appletreehall, Essenside, Hawick, Lilliesleaf, Philiphaugh, and Woll.

Woll is a village on the Ale Water, off the A7, in the Ettrick Forest, north of Hawick, and south of Selkirk in the Scottish Borders area of Scotland.

The Haining is a country house and estate in Selkirk in the Scottish Borders. The present house dates from the 1790s, and was a property of the Pringle family. In 2009, the house and grounds were bequeathed to The Haining Charitable Trust which manages the estate for the benefit of the people of Selkirkshire and the wider public. The Haining Charitable Trust is now working on developing the building as a centre for exhibitions and events, highlighting art, culture and history. The House is currently being refurbished and will be let out for various events and functions. The Old Coach House and Stable outbuildings have been refurbished and now offer six brand new artists studios. Holiday apartments, The Ettrick, and The Yarrow, and the two-beroomed, Dairy Cottage, are also now available within the grounds available for booking via Visit Scotland. The "Old Ginger" statue is located in the kennel yard. The house is protected as a category A listed building, and the grounds are included in the Inventory of Gardens and Designed Landscapes in Scotland, the national listing of significant gardens.

Harden Castle is a 16th-century tower house, about 3.5 miles (5.6 km) west of Hawick, Scottish Borders. It is alternatively known as Harden House or Harden Tower. The castle is situated strongly, above a deep ravine.

The Borthwick Water (Border Scots: Borthwick Witter) is a river in the Scottish Borders area of Scotland, and a tributary of the River Teviot. The Aithouse Burn, the Howpasley Burn, and the Northhope Burn (amongst others) are some of the feeder burns for what becomes the Borthwick Water at Craik, in the heart of the Craik Forest. The Water continues via Meadshaw, Muselee, and Deanburnhaugh, to Burnfoot and Roberton until it joins the Teviot at Borthaugh and Martinshouse, at the end of the B711, and less than 2 miles from the centre of Hawick. Places of interest nearby are the Alemoor Loch reservoir and Borthaugh Hill, as well as the villages of Borthwickshiels, Branxholme, Broadhaugh, and Buccleuch.

Stirches is an area of Hawick in the Scottish Borders, mostly consisting of ex-council housing built in 1973. It is often considered to be one of the more desirable housing schemes in the town.

Wilton Dean is a village in the Scottish Borders area of Scotland, on the Cala Burn, and close to the River Teviot. Along with Stirches and Burnfoot, Scottish Borders, Wilton Dean is now often considered to be a suburb of Hawick which is situated very close to the village.

Selkirk Town House is a municipal building in the Market Place, Selkirk, Scottish Borders, Scotland. The structure, which is used as a local history museum is a Category A listed building.

County Buildings is a municipal structure in Ettrick Terrace, Selkirk, Scottish Borders, Scotland. The complex, which was the headquarters of Selkirkshire County Council and was also used as a courthouse, is a Category B listed building.

Selkirk High School is a high school in Selkirk, Scotland, which serves the town and its surrounding area including the Ettrick and Yarrow valleys and the villages of Midlem and Lilliesleaf. The school's motto is 'Trusty and Leal', taken from the common riding song 'Up wi' the Souters'.

Philiphaugh is a rugby union ground in the Royal Burgh of Selkirk, Scotland with a capacity of approximately 6,000. It is the home of Selkirk Rugby Football Club, who currently play in Scottish Hydro Electric Premiership Division One and the Border League. Rugby was first recorded being played in the town of Selkirk in 1877, not far from the ground's current site. However it was Selkirk Cricket Club who first used the current pitch, before moving to larger premises. Selkirk RFC first played at Philiphaugh in September 1926.The Border Reivers professional team played their first game at Philiphaugh in 1999.
