The Battle of Lauron (also known as the Battle of Lauro, not to be confused for the Battle of Lauro of 45 BC) was fought in 76 BC by a rebel force under the command of the renegade Roman general Quintus Sertorius and an army of Roman Republic under the command of the Roman general Gnaeus Pompeius Magnus (better known as Pompey). The battle was part of the Sertorian War and ended in victory for Sertorius and his rebels. The battle was recorded in detail by Frontinus in his Stratagems and by Plutarch in his Lives of Sertorius and Pompey.

Alzira (Spanish: Alcira) is a city and municipality of 46,451 inhabitants (62,094 floating population) in Valencia, eastern Spain. It is the capital of the comarca of Ribera Alta in the province of Valencia. The city is the heart of the second largest urban agglomeration in the province, with a population of over 100,000.

The Battle of Alzira took place in 1521, as viceroy Diego Hurtado de Mendoza, 1st Count of Melito, attempted to subjugate Alzira and end the Revolt of the Brotherhoods. In this battle, Alzira was supported by the Agermanado troops of Xàtiva and resisted the attacks for a year, until 9 December 1522, when the troops of the Viceroy entered the city.

Montortal is a pedania of l'Alcúdia in the province of Valencia, Spain, situated about two kilometres south of the centre of the town. Formerly it was owned by the Marquesses of Montortal. Montortal is a small village (100 inhabitants) set amongst the orange and caqui groves in an intensive agricultural area. Although Montortal has a reasonably high gipsy population in comparison to most other villages in the area it is well known and respected for its integration between races and is now beginning to experience a resurgence of population and restoration. Situated approximately 25 km from the beaches of the Costa del Azahar, the Valencia bay and 35 km from Valencia. It is one of the few original villages in the area to remain untouched by developers, mainly because most of the village sits on non urbanizable land causing planning permissions to be either extremely difficult or impossible to obtain. Montortal has a church circa 1716, devoted to the Virgin Mary, which has been basically abandoned by the cathedral of San Andrés in l'Alcúdia which took over the church and area in 1902; church services are no longer held in the village.
