Sunshine 60 (サンシャイン60, Sanshain rokujū) is a 60-story, mixed-use skyscraper located in Ikebukuro, Toshima, Tokyo, adjoining the Sunshine City complex. At the time of its completion in 1978, the 239.7 m (786 ft) building was the tallest in Asia, a title it held until 1985 when it was surpassed by the 63 Building in Seoul. Sunshine 60 was also the tallest building in Tokyo and Japan until the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building was completed in 1991, and housed the world's fastest elevators (at 600 metres per minute (2,000 ft/min)) until the opening of the Yokohama Landmark Tower in 1993; Mitsubishi Electric installed the elevators at the former's highest-rise bank (partially from designs MELCO licensed from the Westinghouse Electric Corporation) as well as the latter, and Mitsubishi Estate owns both buildings.

Sugamo Prison (Sugamo Kōchi-sho, Kyūjitai: 巢鴨拘置所, Shinjitai: 巣鴨拘置所) was a prison in Tokyo, Japan. It was located in the district of Ikebukuro, which is now part of the Toshima ward of Tokyo, Japan.

Sunshine City (サンシャインシティ, Sanshain Shiti) is a building complex located in East Ikebukuro, Toshima, Tokyo, Japan. It has the 240-metre tall Sunshine 60 skyscraper at its centre. Sunshine City consists of four buildings: Sunshine 60, the main and tallest building, which includes corporate offices as well as restaurants; the Prince Hotel; the World Import Mart; and the Bunka Kaikan building. The complex sits on land that was once occupied by Sugamo Prison.The lower floors of the complex cater toward passerby and customers with a large shopping mall and numerous restaurants, while the higher floors tend to include corporate offices and hotel rooms. The complex, which was opened in 1978, contains numerous attractions including an observatory (observation deck) located at the top of Sunshine 60 called Sky Circus, the Ancient Orient Museum, an aquarium, a planetarium, the Prince Hotel, a Namco-run indoor amusement park, a convention centre, and a theatre. When it was opened, Sunshine 60 office tower block was reputed to be the tallest building in Asia. It is an early example of a "city within a city", a self-contained area with places to live, work, and shop all within one area.Since Sunshine 60's Sky Circus observatory was opened, other observation decks have opened in Tokyo, such as at Roppongi and the Tokyo Government offices.

Nekobukuro Cat's House (ねこぶくろ) is a petting zoo for cats located on the eighth floor of the Ikebukuro Tokyu Hands store. Nekobukuro is a play on the Japanese word for cat, "neko", and the location Ikebukuro. It is one of the better known cat-petting destinations, being included in tourist and sightseeing guides.For an entrance fee, customers may interact and play with any of the fifteen to twenty cats currently running free around Nekobukuro at the time. Over 30 cats are rostered in and out over the course of the day to ensure they are not over-handled. Like Tokyo's many cat cafés, Nekobukuro is viewed as an alternative to pet ownership while still maintaining pet interaction. Not only is buying and keeping a pet in Japan expensive, many apartments will not allow pets, and some Tokyo residents feel their work schedule may not be compatible with the ownership of an animal.Nekobukuro has no attached cafe and does not permit food or drink, but a couples discount and no time limit ensures its continued popularity as a destination on dates.

The Ancient Orient Museum (古代オリエント博物館, Kodai Oriento Hakubutsukan) is a small private museum in Tokyo, Japan, specializing in artifacts of the ancient Near East and Central Asia. It has a collection of Greco-Buddhist art of Gandhara, and several works of art pertaining to the art of Palmyra and Persia.

Toshima (豊島区, Toshima-ku) is a special ward in Tokyo, Japan. It is one of the eight central wards of the Tokyo Metropolitan area. Located in the northern area of Tokyo, Toshima is bordered by the wards of Nerima, Itabashi, and Kita in the north and Nakano, Shinjuku, and Bunkyo in the south. The ward was founded on March 15, 1947, and reached a peak resident population of 370,000 in 1965. The population has continued to decline and as of May 1, 2015, the ward had an estimated population of 298,250, with a population density of 22,920 persons per km2. During the day the population swells with commuters, resulting in a daytime population of around 378,475. The total land area of Toshima is 13.01 km2, sitting on a moderate plateau with a difference of 28 m between the ward's highest and lowest points. Approximately 47% of Toshima's land is residential, and 20% is commercial and public areas.Although Toshima is a ward, it is referred to as a city. The ward offices are located in Ikebukuro, which is also the commercial and entertainment center of Toshima.With a non-Japanese population of 19,868, or 7.42% of the total, Toshima is one of the most international wards in Tokyo. Of the foreign population, 56% is of Chinese descent, 20% is of Korean descent, with the rest being of primarily Filipino and European descent.

The Owl Tower (アウルタワー) is a residential building in the Toshima special ward of Tokyo, Japan. Completed in January 2011, it stands at 189.2 m (621 ft) tall, with the top floor located at 182.8 m (600 ft). It is the 38th tallest building in Tokyo and the 55th tallest building in Japan.

Higashi-ikebukuro-yonchome Station (東池袋四丁目停留場, Higashi-Ikebukuro-yonchōme-Teiryūjyō) is a tram station located in Toshima, Tokyo, Japan. It opened on December 12, 1925. On maps, it is marked as an interchange with the Tokyo Metro Yurakucho Line at Higashi-ikebukuro Station.

Higashi-Ikebukuro Station (東池袋駅, Higashi-ikebukuro-eki) is a subway station on the Tokyo Metro Yurakucho Line in Toshima, Tokyo, Japan, operated by the Tokyo subway operator Tokyo Metro. The station is numbered "Y-10". It opened on October 30, 1974.

Minami-Ikebukuro Park (南池袋公園, Minami Ikebukuro Kōen) is a public park in Toshima, Tokyo, Japan. A cafe called RACINE FARM TO PARK is also on the premises.

The Toshima Incineration Plant (豊島清掃工場) is a waste treatment plant located in Kami-ikebukuro, Toshima, Tokyo, Japan. It covers an area of 12,000 square meters and has two incineration units with a combined capacity of 400 tons of waste per day.The plant was constructed with a large fitness center in order to appease area residents who may have otherwise opposed its construction. The center's swimming pool is heated from burning garbage while electricity is supplied from a steam-driven turbine. The plant outputs 7,800 kW of electricity, enough to supply 20,000 homes.The plant's smokestack, at 210 meters in height, is the tallest industrial chimney in the special wards of Tokyo and was constructed in order for exhaust from the plant to clear the nearby 239-meter Sunshine 60 building.
