Rimsting

Rimsting station is a former railway station in the Upper Bavarian district of Rimsting on the Rosenheim–Salzburg railway in southern Germany. The first halt was installed in 1881 for the Bavarian King Ludwig II, who wanted to visit the construction site for his next palace, Schloss Herrenchiemsee. The present-day station building was erected in 1911. In 1981 the station was closed to passenger services; a siding is still in use for the delivery of liquid gas. Since 2006 a cultural meeting place has been housed in the station building.

Prien am Chiemsee (official: Prien a.Chiemsee, High German [priːn], Bavarian (local) dialect [breˑɐ̯̃ⁿ]) is a municipality in the Upper Bavarian district of Rosenheim in Germany. The town is a certified air and Kneipp spa on the western shore of the lake of Chiemsee, 16 km (9.3 mi) east of Rosenheim. The name of Prien is derived from the Celtic denomination of the river Prien (Brigenna, 'coming from the mountains').

Prien is a river of Bavaria, Germany. Its source is at 1,150 metres (3,770 ft) above sea level at the Spitzstein. After 33 kilometres (21 mi) it discharges into the Chiemsee at the bay Schafwaschener Bucht. It is one of the longest mountain streams in the Bavarian Alps. The name probably derives from the Celtic name of the river, Brigenna, the one coming from the mountains (female) in Celtic languages. The town Prien am Chiemsee was named after the river. Before Prien, on a weir the Mühlbach is fed, which flows independently into the Chiemsee further southward. The Prien is, after the Tiroler Achen, the second largest tributary to the Chiemsee.

Prien am Chiemsee station is the largest station of the Bavarian market town of Prien am Chiemsee. The station was opened in 1860 and is classified by Deutsche Bahn as a category 4 station. It has four platform tracks, one of which is a bay platform. It is served by about 85 Deutsche Bahn trains each day. The station is a separation station and is located on the Rosenheim–Salzburg, Chiemgau Railway (Chiemgaubahn) and the Chiemsee Railway (Chiemseebahn). Prien am Chiemsee also contains the terminus of the Chiemsee Railway to Prien-Stock, which is called the Prien (Stock) station.

Bad Endorf is a municipality and a village in the district of Rosenheim in Bavaria in Germany. The market town is located about 15 km outside of Rosenheim and is in close proximity to Lake Simssee and Chiemsee lake and its larger shore towns, Prien, Gstadt, and Seebruck. The town is home to a large health spa, as well as the German Federal Police winter sports training center which is famous for "producing" medal winners at the Winter Olympics such as female speed skater Claudia Pechstein. Bad Endorf has one main bus station and several minor ones located around the town for regional destinations. The town also has a Deutsche Bahn railway station on the Rosenheim–Salzburg line with service to minor towns in the area as well as Rosenheim, Munich, and Salzburg, Austria.

Vachendorf is a village in the municipal district of the market town of Prien am Chiemsee in Landkreis Rosenheim in the state of Bavaria in southern Germany. It has about 55 inhabitants and lies centrally between the larger villages of Prien am Chiemsee, Bernau am Chiemsee, Frasdorf and Aschau im Chiemgau. Because of its proximity to the Chiemsee, Wildenwart Castle and a nature protection area, it is a favourite destination with the area for walkers.

Breitbrunn am Chiemsee is a municipality in the district of Rosenheim in Bavaria in Germany.

Herreninsel (German pronunciation: [ˈhɛʁənˌʔɪnzl̩] (listen); old name: Herrenwörth) is a 238 hectare island in Bavaria's largest lake, Chiemsee. It is the biggest of three main islands, Fraueninsel and "Krautinsel" joining it to form the municipality of Chiemsee. Herreninsel is famous for the Herrenchiemsee palace of Ludwig II of Bavaria. Never completed, it was only inhabited by the king for nine or ten nights before he mysteriously died of drowning at age 40. The island is inhabited by about 30 people, Frauenchiemsee some 300. It is also the site of a previous royal home, the Old Palace Herrenchiemsee, a former Augustinian monastery (Monastery Herrenchiemsee).

Herrenchiemsee is a complex of royal buildings on Herreninsel, the largest island in the Chiemsee lake, in southern Bavaria, Germany. Together with the neighbouring isle of Frauenchiemsee and the uninhabited Krautinsel, it forms the municipality of Chiemsee, located about 60 kilometres (37 mi) southeast of Munich. The island, formerly the site of an Augustinian monastery, was purchased by King Ludwig II of Bavaria in 1873. The king had the premises converted into a residence, known as the Old Palace (Altes Schloss). From 1878 onwards, he had the New Herrenchiemsee Palace (Neues Schloss) erected, based on the model of Versailles. It was the largest, but also the last of his building projects, and remained incomplete. Today maintained by the Bavarian Administration of State-Owned Palaces, Gardens and Lakes, Herrenchiemsee is accessible to the public and a major tourist attraction.

Eggstätt is a municipality in the district of Rosenheim in Bavaria in Germany. Eggstätt is situated on a flat ridge (539 m) between a forested, undulating region and the wetland area to the northwest of Lake Chiemsee. The Eggstätt-Hemhof Lakes District contains 17 smaller and larger lakes surrounding the township. There is evidence of human settlement in the area dating back to the Bronze Age; the name Eggstaett (“Echistat”) was first documented in the year 925 AD.
