Nesselwang

Reuterwanne is a 1541 m high mountain in the Allgäu Alps near Wertach and Jungholz. Due to its secluded location, the view from the top goes very far.

The Grüntensee is a 2.5 km long and 11.2 m deep reservoir of the Wertach river with a circumference of 8.2 km in the district of Oberallgäu on the border with the district of Ostallgäu, Bavarian Swabia, Bavaria, Germany, 3.1 km west of Nesselwang. The reservoir was completed in 1962 and is used for flood protection and power generation. A hydroelectric power plant generates 1 MW of power. The Grüntensee and some areas of its shore are also used as recreational areas. On the northern shore of the Grüntensee is the Kletterwald Grüntensee (a high ropes course). On the southern shore there is a small patch of houses with a playground near the shoreline. The lake was named after the Grünten mountain on the northern edge of the Allgäu Alps, which lies about 11 kilometres to the southwest.

The lack of a road connection to anywhere else in Austria led to Jungholz being included in the German customs area before Austria joined the EU in 1995. It also used the Deutsche Mark instead of the Austrian schilling as currency until 2002, when the euro took over. Letters to Jungholz can be addressed with either a German or an Austrian postal code.

The Schwaltenweiher is a reservoir in the Ostallgäu foothills of the Alps in Bavaria, Germany. It lies 14 km (8.7 mi) from the Allgäu Alps between the towns of Seeg and Rückholz. It was named after the Schwaltenmühle mill built beside it, which was in turn named after the Schwalt or Schwald family. It is now used for bathing and fishing.

Hohenfreyberg Castle (German: Burg Hohenfreyberg), together with Eisenberg Castle directly opposite, forms a castle group in the southern Allgäu that is visible from a long way off. It is located about four kilometres north of Pfronten in the county of Ostallgäu. The late mediaeval hilltop castle was abandoned during the Thirty Years’ War and set on fire. From 1995 to 2006 the former aristocratic seat was comprehensively made safe and conserved as part of a closely observed "example of renovation".
