The Kleines Schulerloch inscription is the runic inscription of debated authenticity discovered in the Kleines Schulerloch cave that was found in 1937, Altmühl valley (near Essing, Bavaria) was not noticed until the 1950s. It reads birg : leub : selbrade,probably meaning "Birg, beloved of Selbrad", next to a drawing of an ibex or stag scratched into the stone from perhaps the same time, but whose the authenticity is also debated. The inscription was generally considered to be fake shortly after its discovery.The discovery of a parallel inscription in grave 172 of the "Unterer Stollen" cemetery in Bad Krozingen in 2001, reading boba : leub | agirikerevived discussions regarding the authenticity of the Kleines Schulerloch inscription. Still, in 2003, Looijenga concluded that the inscription is an obvious falsification. In 2012, Findell, accepting the Bad Krozingen inscription as genuine, noted that most scholars still objected to its authenticity and considered the Kleines Schulerloch inscription to be at least "suspect".

Weltenburg Abbey (Kloster Weltenburg) is a Benedictine monastery in Weltenburg near Kelheim on the Danube in Bavaria, Germany.

The Danube Gorge near Weltenburg (German: Donaudurchbruch bei Weltenburg) is a narrow section of the Danube Valley in the Lower Bavarian county of Kelheim, which has been recognised as a nature reserve and geotope. This section of the valley in the southern Franconian Jura is officially called the Weltenburg Narrows (Weltenburger Enge).

The Abens is a river in Bavaria, Germany, and a right-bank tributary of the Danube. Its source is near Au in der Hallertau. Some 71 kilometres (44 mi) long, it flows generally northward through the small towns of Au in der Hallertau, Rudelzhausen, Mainburg, Siegenburg, and Abensberg. It empties into the Danube at Eining, part of Neustadt an der Donau.

Arresting is a small rural village, that is an Ortsteil of Neustadt an der Donau in the Kelheim district of Lower Bavaria. It is situated about 7 km north of Neustadt's center, on the left bank of the Danube. As of 1 April 2022 it has a population of 84.

Schloss Hexenagger is a Bavarian castle located in the district of Hexenagger located near the town of Altmannstein in the Altmühl Valley Nature Park (Naturpark Altmühltal). The castle probably was first built in the tenth century, as it is first mentioned in a record from the Monastery of St. Emmeram of Regensburg in 982. Originally, the Bavarian noble family of Muggenthaler resided in the castle. The castle was destroyed during the Thirty Years' War and rebuilt in the Baroque style. Since the extinction of the Hexenagger Muggerthaler family line, the castle has passed through several owners. One of the most notable owners was Elector Karl Albrecht, later Holy Roman Emperor Charles VII, who purchased the castle in 1724 as a gift for his mistress, Countess Maria Josepha von Morawitzky.Today, the castle is privately owned by Eberhard Leichtfuß and his family. Mr. Leichtfuß is the sixth generation of the noble family von Weidenbach to inherit and live in the castle. The family supports the restoration of the castle by hosting events including summer medieval festivals, weddings, company events, and Christmas markets.

The Ilm is a river in Bavaria, Germany, left tributary of the Abens. Its source is near Altomünster. It is approx. 84 km long. It flows generally north through the small towns Hilgertshausen-Tandern, Reichertshausen, Pfaffenhofen an der Ilm, Geisenfeld and Vohburg. It flows into the Abens near Neustadt an der Donau.

Riedenburg (German: [ˈʁiːdn̩ˌbʊʁk] ) is a town in the district of Kelheim, in Bavaria, Germany. It is situated on the river Altmühl, 16 km (10 mi) northwest of Kelheim and 29 km (18 mi) northeast of Ingolstadt. Prunn Castle (de) is located in Riedenburg. The town is on the Rhine–Main–Danube Canal. On the evening of 5 June 2019, a Viking ship, initially said to be the Viking Var, damaged the lock of Riedenburg, on the canal. After the impact, the lock could not be properly closed. No one was injured in the accident. The repair was expected to take two to three weeks to complete. Later reports indicated the vessel involved in that incident was actually the Viking Tir. The site Vessel Tracker stated that this ship returned to Regensburg a few hours later and remained there; its records indicate that the Tir did not continue on to Budapest until 13 June.

Wöhr is an historic town, and now district of Neustadt an der Donau in Lower Bavaria on the Danube in Bavaria, Germany. The settlement of Wöhr is between Neustadt and the Danube riverbank, and is actually older than Neustadt. Wöhr was incorporated in the late Middle Ages as part of the city of Neustadt and residents of Wöhr could be citizens of the city, but lived outside the fortification. Wöhr was also the seat of the noble family of the Lords of Wöhr and the ducal Urbar Office who lived in the so-called Burgstall Castle(now ruins).

The Kuchlbauer Tower (German: Kuchlbauer-Turm) is an observation tower designed by Austrian architect Friedensreich Hundertwasser on the grounds of the Kuchlbauer brewery in Abensberg, a town in Lower Bavaria.
