Amberg-Sulzbach (Northern Bavarian: Amberg-Suizboch) is a Landkreis (district) in Bavaria, Germany. It surrounds but does not include the city of Amberg. It is bounded by (from the north and clockwise) the districts of Neustadt an der Waldnaab, Schwandorf, Neumarkt, Nürnberger Land and Bayreuth.

Sulzbach-Rosenberg (Northern Bavarian: Suizboch-Rosnberg) is a municipality in the Amberg-Sulzbach district, in Bavaria, Germany. It is situated approximately 14 km northwest of Amberg, and 50 km east of Nuremberg. The town consists of two parts: Sulzbach in the west, and Rosenberg in the east. Archeological evidence tells that Sulzbach was an important centre from the 8th century on. Sulzbach castle was founded during the early 8th century, probably by the late-Merovingian/early-Carolingian kingdom. The castle was the residence of the powerful counts of the Nordgau (9th–10th century), the important counts of Sulzbach (c. 1003 – 1188) — one of whose daughters, Bertha of Sulzbach became the Empress of Byzantine Emperor Manuel I Comnenus — and later of the counts of Hirschberg (1188–1305), the counts of Wittelsbach (1305–1354, 1373–1504), emperor Karl IV (1354–1373), the palatine-dukes of Neuburg and of the dukes of Palatinate-Sulzbach (17th–18th century) of the House of Wittelsbach. Since 2005, Sulzbach has hosted the Sulzbach-Rosenberg International Music Festival (known as the InterHarmony International Music Festival in other locations). It is one of several locations that hosts the InterHarmony international Music Festival, first conceptualized in 1997.

The Battle of Amberg, fought on 24 August 1796, resulted in an Habsburg victory by Archduke Charles over a French army led by Jean-Baptiste Jourdan. This engagement marked a turning point in the Rhine campaign, which had previously seen French successes.

The Ostbayerische Technische Hochschule Amberg-Weiden (OTH-AW) is a state university of applied sciences (UAS), which was founded in 1994 under the name Fachhochschule Amberg-Weiden. At the two locations Amberg and Weiden, over 40 bachelor's and master's degree programs as well as part-time degree programs are offered in four faculties. The name "Ostbayerische Technische Hochschule" is based on an existing cooperation agreement in association with the Ostbayerische Technische Hochschule Regensburg.

The Eh'häusl is an eight-foot-wide hotel in the city of Amberg, in the Upper Palatinate of Bavaria in Germany. According to the operator, the Urban Planning Society of the town of Amberg, it is now regarded as "the smallest hotel in the world." The name of the building, derived possibly from Early New High German Ehalten (for servants) and was probably reinterpreted in the vernacular to marriage house or matrimonial home in the 18th or 19th century. Built in 1728, the 2 metre wide house was sold between young couples to circumvent local laws prohibiting marriage between poor people who did not own their own home.The house was built on an area of approximately 20 square meters with no side walls and is mounted between the two neighboring houses. Though tiny in size the hotel has flat-screen TV, a mini spa, and several other amenities for its guests.
