Lodève

The canton of Lodève is an administrative division of the Hérault department, southern France. Its borders were modified at the French canton reorganisation which came into effect in March 2015. Its seat is in Lodève.

The Bishopric of Lodève is a former Roman Catholic diocese in southern France. Its episcopal see was located in Lodève, in the modern department of Hérault. Its territory is now part of the archdiocese of Montpellier.

Lodève Cathedral (French: Cathédrale Saint-Fulcran de Lodève) is a Roman Catholic church in Lodève, Hérault, southern France. The edifice is a typical example of local Gothic architecture. Lodève is an ancient town of Celtic origin, situated some 50 kilometres (as the crow flies) from the Mediterranean coast. It sits at the foot of the mountains of the Languedoc-Roussillon region, about 45 kilometres north-west of Montpellier. The former Diocese of Lodève, probably founded towards the end of the 4th century, was suppressed during the French Revolution and was not restored; its territory was instead attached to the Diocese, later Archdiocese, of Montpellier. The See of Lodève was restored in 1877 in the person of the Bishop of Montpellier. The cathedral, the former seat of the Bishops of Lodève, was classed a national historical monument in 1840.

The arrondissement of Lodève is an arrondissement of France. It is part of the Hérault département. Its INSEE code is 342 and its capital city is Lodève. It has 122 communes. Its population is 146,845 (2021), and its area is 2,005.0 km2 (774.1 sq mi). It is the northernmost of the arrondissements of the department. The main towns in the arrondissement, with more than 7,000 inhabitants in 2019, are Saint-Gély-du-Fesc (10,197 inhabitants), Clermont-l'Hérault (9,029 inhabitants) and Lodève (7,477 inhabitants).

The Jardin botanique du Puech is a private botanical garden located in Le Puech, Hérault, Languedoc-Roussillon, France, which contains a variety of fruit trees and Mediterranean plants. As of January 2009, it is unclear whether the garden is still open to the public.

Soubès (French pronunciation: [subɛs]; Occitan: Sobès) is a commune in the Hérault department in Occitanie in southern France, situated on a hill near the confluence of the Brèze and Suberbet rivers. The village dates from the 12th Century, and even today only one main street, the Coural, is suitable for motor traffic. The ancient city walls are visible in many places. The village has two châteaux, a church, two schools, a Mairie, a café (Café du Terral), a small post office and a general store. A modern sports and social centre lies just outside the village proper, the other side of the D25 road to Ganges.

Les Plans (French pronunciation: [le plɑ̃]; Occitan: Los Plans) is a commune in the Hérault department in the Occitanie region in southern France.
