Aldeburgh

The Church of Our Lady and St Peter is a Roman Catholic church in Aldeburgh, Suffolk. It is part of the Diocese of East Anglia. The church is still not complete. A wood-paneled north wall indicates uncompleted plans for further extension. The building is aligned north–south rather than east–west, and the porch faces east. But stepping into the nave, you may be momentarily disorientated. That 'apse' is to the right, which intuitively should be liturgically east, and contain the sanctuary; but it is screened off, for use as a sacristy. Instead, you turn left to face the altar. The reason is simple - it is not an apse at all. It is all that remains of a round tower, one of Suffolk's few modern ones. When this church was built, it was intended to be very much in the style of the 40-odd round towered medieval churches that you find in the county, particularly along the coast.

The Aldeburgh Beach Lookout is a historic landmark on the Aldeburgh sea front, in Suffolk, England. Grade II listed, it was built around 1830 as a lookout tower to assist or plunder shipping along the hazardous North Sea coast. It now houses an artistic space, hosting exhibitions by British artists including Sir Antony Gormley RA.

Aldeburgh Lifeboat Station is an RNLI station located in the town of Aldeburgh in the English county of Suffolk.The present station has two boats on station. These are the Mersey-class lifeboat 12-34 RNLB Freddie Cooper (ON 1193) and the D-class (IB1) Inshore lifeboat Susan Scott (D-808). The station covers the coast between Harwich station to the south, and Southwold station to the North.

Aldeburgh railway station (formerly Aldborough) was a station in Aldeburgh, Suffolk, England. It was opened in 1860 by the East Suffolk Railway, and later came under the control of the Great Eastern Railway. The terminus of an 8.5-mile branch line to Saxmundham, the station closed in 1966 as part of the Beeching Axe as much of the British rural rail network was cut back.

Scallop is a 2003 work by British artist Maggi Hambling. It is located on Aldeburgh beach, Suffolk, in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is a tribute to composer Benjamin Britten.

The Haven, Aldeburgh is a 20.2 hectare Local Nature Reserve in Aldeburgh in Suffolk. It is owned by East Suffolk Council and managed by the Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It is in the Leiston - Aldeburgh Site of Special Scientific Interest and Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.The site covers the beach north of Aldeburgh and an area of lagoons and reedbeds which are protected as nature reserves. It has a sculpture called Scallop by Maggi Hambling, designed as a tribute to Benjamin Britten.The beach is open to the public, but not the lagoons and reedbeds.

Crag Pit, Aldeburgh is a 0.2-hectare (0.49-acre) geological Site of Special Scientific Interest in Aldeburgh in Suffolk. It is a Geological Conservation Review site, and within the Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.This is the most northern site which exposes the Pliocene Coralline Crag Formation around five million years ago. It has rich and diverse fossils, including many bryozoans, and other fauna include serpulids and several boring forms.This site, which has been filled in, is on private land with no public access.
