Shanghai Southwest Weiyu Middle School (Chinese: 上海市西南位育中学; pinyin: Shànghǎishì Xīnán Wèiyù Zhōngxué), is a private school situated on Yishan Road in Xuhui District, Shanghai, PRC. Founded in 1993, it is the first large-scale private middle school in Chinese mainland since the adoption of the reform and opening up policy. The school is sponsored by Shanghai Xujiahui Department Group Store Company Ltd. The chairman of the school is Gao Yunsong. The founder of the school was Zhuang Zhongwen. The headmaster is Zhang Jianzhong. The school has three campuses with sixty classes and almost three thousand students. It has computer rooms, libraries and music classrooms. The school is called Shanghai Exemplary Entity for Physical Education, Shanghai Exemplary Entity for Moral Education, Shanghai Model School for Code of Conduct, Shanghai Experimental Base for Science and Technology Education and Shanghai Exemplary Entity for Spiritual Civilization. In April 2005, it became the first middle school to pass the Certification of the International and Trans-Regional Accreditation (CITA). In October 2005, it was approved as the experimental and exemplary high school in Xuhui District. The Overseas Students Department was established in 2006, and since then there have been overseas students from about twelve countries including the United States, France, Japan and Korea.

Xuhui District is a core urban district of Shanghai. It has a land area of 54.76 km2 (21.14 sq mi) and a population of 982,200 as of 2008.The Xuhui District is named after its namesake, the historic area of Xujiahui. Xujiahui was historically land owned by Ming dynasty bureaucrat and scientist Xu Guangqi, and later donated to the Roman Catholic Church. It and Luwan District jointly formed the core of Catholic Shanghai, centered in the former French Concession of Shanghai. Vestiges of the French influence can still be seen in the St. Ignatius Cathedral of Shanghai, Xuhui College, the Xujiahui Observatory, and some remaining boulevards and French-style districts. Parts of today's Xuhui District were once the premier residential districts of Shanghai. The former french neighborhoods in parts of Xuhui today constitute some of the city´s most popular café areas, including places such as pedestrian Tianzifang. After the revolution, however, the large estates near Xujiahui were turned into factories. In the 1990s, the Shanghai municipal government developed the district as a commercial zone. A once-prominent commercial area in the district was the Xiangyang Crafts and Gifts Market, a haven for souvenirs and intellectual property-infringing products; it was closed on June 30, 2006 by municipal authorities. Xujiahui itself has been redeveloped as a financial center, with a proliferation of large-scale shopping centers and department stores, and is now a major shopping destination in the city with shopping malls such as Grand Gateway Shanghai and Pacific Sogo. The educational tradition begun by Jesuits in Xuhui continues with Shanghai Jiao Tong University, the premier university in China. The district also has some of the best secondary schools in the municipality, such as South West Weiyu Middle School, Shanghai High School and Nanyang Model High School. A number of former residences of prominent personalities remain, including Soong Ching-ling and Sun Yat-sen's former residence. Yao Ming of Houston Rockets was a resident of the district. Luo "Ferrari 430" Feichi lives in Xuhui.Xuhui District has 12 subdistricts and two townships.

Shanghai Indoor Stadium, (simplified Chinese: 上海体育馆; traditional Chinese: 上海體育館; pinyin: Shànghǎi Tǐyùguǎn) also known as the Shanghai Grand Stage, is a multi-purpose gymnasium in Shanghai. Hailed as a great feat of engineering at the time of its construction, the building is now considered dated and out-classed by newly constructed sporting facilities nearby. It is now used for entertainment events and sporting competitions, like table tennis.

The Shanghai Stadium (simplified Chinese: 上海体育场; traditional Chinese: 上海體育場; pinyin: Shànghǎi Tǐyùchǎng) is a multi-purpose stadium in Shanghai. Between 2009 and 2019, the stadium hosted home matches of the Chinese Super League team Shanghai SIPG.

Shanghai Indoor Stadium (simplified Chinese: 上海体育馆; traditional Chinese: 上海體育館; pinyin: Shànghǎi Tǐyùguǎn) is an interchange station between lines 1 and 4 of the Shanghai Metro. This station is part of the initial southern section of the line that opened on 28 May 1993 and is located in Xuhui District; the interchange with Line 4 opened on 31 December 2005.

Yishan Road (Chinese: 宜山路; pinyin: Yíshān Lù) is the name of an interchange station between Lines 3, 4 and 9 on the Shanghai Metro. It is the southernmost station shared by Line 3 and Line 4, although the two lines do not share tracks (the Line 4 station is underground). The station opened on 26 December 2000 as part of the initial section of Line 3 from Shanghai South Railway Station to Jiangwan Town. The interchange with Line 4 opened on the final day of 2005, and the interchange with Line 9 opened on the final day of 2009 as part of that line's downtown section from this station to Century Avenue.While the Line 4 platform was formerly in a separate area from Lines 3 and 9, the three platforms of all three lines are now connected via an above-ground passageway.

Caoxi Road (Chinese: 漕溪路; pinyin: Cáoxī Lù) is a station on Shanghai Metro Line 3. The station opened on 26 December 2000 as part of the initial section of Line 3 from Shanghai South Railway Station to Jiangwan Town. It is within walking distance of Shanghai's first IKEA store.

Shanghai Astronomical Observatory (SHAO), is an astronomical observatory in Shanghai. It has a long history of astrometry, and also operates the 25-meter (82 ft) Sheshan radio telescope as part of the Chinese VLBI array and the European VLBI Network (EVN). It was formed in 1962 from the merger of the Xujiahui (also romanized as "Ziikawei") and Sheshan (Zose) observatories in Shanghai. It was involved with the Chang'e 1 moon mission as the VLBI array is used for position determinations.

The Roman Catholic Diocese of Shanghai (Latin: Dioecesis Sciamhaevensis; Chinese: 天主教上海教区) is an ecclesiastical territory or diocese of the Roman Catholic Church in the Municipality of Shanghai, China. It was erected on December 13, 1933 as the Apostolic Vicariate of Shanghai by Pope Pius XI, and was later elevated to the rank of a diocese on April 11, 1946 by Pope Pius XII. The diocese is a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Nanking.

The Xu Guangqi Memorial Hall (徐光启纪念馆) is a memorial and museum for the 17th-century Chinese scholar Xu Guangqi. It is located besides the tomb of Xu Guangqi in Guangqi Park (光启公园), Xujiahui, Xuhui District, Shanghai, China. Formerly Nandan Park (南丹公园), the park was renamed in 1983 for the 350th anniversary of Xu Guangqi's death.

The tomb of Xu Guangqi is the burial site of Xu Guangqi (24 April 1562 – 10 November 1633), a prominent late Ming dynasty statesman, scholar, and leader of the Catholic community, as well as some of his relatives. It is located north of Xujiahui, Shanghai, in the present-day Guangqi Park, covering an area of 3,000 square meters and standing 2.2 meters tall. The tomb is elliptical in shape. In the seventh year of the Chongzhen era (1634), he was posthumously granted the privilege of burial with the rank of a first-rank official, and a special envoy was dispatched to escort his coffin back to Shanghai for burial. Due to the unsettled situation at the time, the coffin was temporarily placed outside the Da'nan Gate of Shanghai (Old City) in the Shuangyuan Villa. In the fourteenth year of the Chongzhen era (1641), he was finally buried in the southwest corner of Gaochang Township, Shanghai County, Songjiang Prefecture. In the twenty-ninth year of the Guangxu era (1903), the Catholic Vicariate of Kiang-nan renovated and expanded the tomb. It was once abandoned, even turned into a vegetable garden. In 1957, it was briefly rebuilt.: 210  During the Cultural Revolution, it became an open-air warehouse and was severely damaged. It was once again restored in 1983. In 2003, it was reconstructed according to the tomb's design from 1903 and has since been well-maintained. On 26 May 1959, and 7 December 1977, the tomb of Xu Guangqi was declared a cultural relic protection unit of Shanghai. On 13 January 1988, it was announced as a national major cultural relic protection unit by the State Council.

Shanghai Swimming Center (simplified Chinese: 上海游泳馆; traditional Chinese: 上海遊泳館; pinyin: Shànghǎi Yóuyǒngguǎn) is a station on Line 11 of the Shanghai Metro, which opened on August 31, 2013.This station is located underground near Shanghai Indoor Stadium station and Shanghai Stadium station.
